Chef To Go - Come and cook with Chef Bob Arniel of Chef To Go at 2 Barnes Road

While chef Bob Arniel is well known for his cooking classes, he is probably less well known for the…read moredinners he offers from time to time. This should change. On Feb 10 and 11, Chef to Go offered one of the best 5 course meals that I have ever tasted. From the local smoked salmon and brie tarte, to the squash soup with carmelized pears on the bottom and stabilized beer foam on the top, to the melt-in-your mouth pork prepared by the sous-vide method, to the perfectly cooked white fleshed turbot on peas pudding ( with a hint of wasabi), to the beet ice cream --everything was supurb! And for the roughy 16 patrons each night, all served in a warm and inviting dining room . All this for only $200 a couple. A friend asked how we had "scored" an invitation to this dinner. It was easy--just check the website or call and ask Bob about his next dinner. My only concern about writing this review is that we may not be able to " score" a ticket for the next occassion. But something this good is meant to be shared.

Extremely Disappointed with Taste of Class Catering…read more We hired Taste of Class for our wedding reception, expecting the professionalism and service we were promised during the planning process. Sadly, what we experienced fell far short of those expectations. Several key issues left both us and our guests disappointed: Food Shortages: Two full tables (16 guests) were left with only rice and a few pieces of chicken. No salad, no lasagna, hardly any vegetables. The Caesar salad wasn't replenished until 25 minutes after everyone had already finished eating. This was not because guests "over-served themselves," but because the buffet was poorly monitored--there was no staff at the serving line, and it took one of our guests knocking on the kitchen door to get more food brought out. Unprofessional Staff Conduct: Guests saw staff helping themselves to food before all guests had been served. Regardless of the explanation given later, the optics were terrible and made it seem like the guests weren't the priority. Coffee & Tea Missing: Several guests--including the groom--went to get coffee before tables were cleared and found none available, despite the promise it would be the last thing removed. Head Table Cleared Too Early: Our wine and glassware were removed without asking, while we were away briefly greeting guests. This felt dismissive and rushed. Basic Standards Missed: Paper napkins at a formal wedding reception--an oversight that should never have happened. After the wedding, we reached out multiple times via email to raise these concerns. Management at Taste of Class never once replied to us directly. The only communication we received came from someone who seemed more interested in defending the company's actions than in taking responsibility or offering solutions. This complete lack of direct response from management only added to our frustration and disappointment. On one of the most important days of our lives, the service, food management, and follow-up were all well below what was promised. We did have some positive moments--one server in particular checked in on us and was kind--but overall, we cannot recommend Taste of Class and would urge other couples to consider their options carefully.
