If you are specifically looking for a gym where you feel like you are royalty working out (but unfortunately have to share limited equipment with others) then this is the place to go. Chandeliers, arches, exposed brick etc make the vibe. However, this gym is essentially like a row home turned into a gym, so expect low ceilings on the bottom level, large fans for ventilation, and again, limited equipment. But then again, this place is convenient if you live in Mount Vernon (and can walk here instead of trying to find parking) and aren't looking for a big gym like Merritt or something else.

Another update! Back to report that the new configuration of spin class downstairs and mat classes…read more(like yoga, barre, and pilates) upstairs works very well. I've been loving Monday night spin classes with Zain - he is an incredible instructor with the best playlists. His class is some of the most fun I've had at a workout class. It feels more like dancing with a group of friends than working out. I bike about 10 miles in his 45 minute class which is something I just never thought I'd be capable of. I've also been enjoying Wednesday evening barre classes upstairs with Erin. This is a new class and I hope they keep it on the schedule! Erin is a great instructor who queues very clearly and makes the class feel fun with her high energy. As someone who primarily weight lifts, barre is such a refreshing challenge for me. I feel like I'm learning a whole new skill set in that class. For a bit, I was also liking the Thursday evening mat pilates class with Chi but they seemed to have taken it off the schedule now :( The weight training areas continue to be conducive for a great workout. My only wish would be that they replace some of the elliptical machines with treadmills. When the gym gets a little busy, it's easy for the treadmills to fill up pretty fast since there's about 8 treadmills total. Whereas, there's probably twice as many ellipticals and I don't think I've ever seen more than a few people using them at a time. I'm also not a huge fan of the fact that you now how to ask the front desk for a towel - this isn't something I've seen at any of the other locations. The bathrooms are a bit outdated and could use some updating as well.

Love this gym! The staff are so friendly and the facilities are always clean. I have all of the…read moreequipment that I need for my lifts, which I also really appreciate.

However, before I even stepped foot into the gym, multiple employees called and text me. I feel like this, and I am sure others do too, of I say I will be there on Monday, I will be there on Monday. Unfortunately, they will call and text you almost everyday, even after you share when you will take a tour. Look, I don't owe you any money, don't call me as if I do. City Fit is the best gym and no one will ever change my mind about it…read more I've been a member since June 2018. I'm not the typical person you think of when you think about a gym person and I have struggled with society's perception of my fitness. Knowing this when I began looking into gyms and that I would need guidance and accountability I looked for a gym that I could get training at. I knew that joining a chain wouldn't be a good fit because I would be someone paying the rent and I wouldn't feel supported. Then I found City Fit! At the time I was still living in Mount Vernon and over the moon I could walk there. I went in for a tour/ introduction and joined in the spot. Over the past 3.5 years, City Fit has brought so much into my life. Suz is an amazing trainer and always willing to meet you where you are at, no matter what. She pushes all of us in ways that prove to us we are more capable than we give ourselves credit for. I have made wonderful friends from the gym, but it's not a requirement. The community is there, we support each other, and that is what makes this gym so special. I've always preferred the small group training over classes because I am personally more self-aware when I am doing something wrong in a class vs. in small group. That's a me thing; their classes are great though! I've taken a few and done cardio while others were in session. When the pandemic hit, CF closed (obv) and found a way to adapt. Suz began posting workout videos, hosting zoom classes and sent at home work outs as we requested. She even loaned supplies out to those who needed things at home. Upon reopening, she further adapted by starting with 60m workout slots to keep everyone safe. Now the gym is open to classes with limited sizes, but you can still sign up for open gym slots and she still hosts zoom classes. All of these things have been crucial... but at the end of the day the thing that has been the most impactful is the love and support that flows from this establishment. No matter what stage of life or mentality, Suz meets me where I am at. She helps me see my goals and celebrates with me when I accomplish them. She never makes me feel bad when I fall off my routine because I have too much going on. Suz is the owner and trainer, but many of us call her our dear friend. This is mirrored in the community members here too. If you are looking for a gym to support you and your goals and one that you won't feel invisible at, I highly suggest City Fit. Take a tour or try a class! I promise you, it's worth it.

Ita located in the circle area by Raw Juice. I could see parking to be a hassle as its tight. The gym is below apartments and surrounded by other shops. Once I walked in, I was greeted and as I am accustom to a norm of being provided with a towel or 2; I asked as I was provided and was told they dont provide them at this location. I then asked the direction of the locker room for women as this was my first time at this location. This is definitely new and updated compared to Reisterstown location but smaller then Padonia. I went to the locker room, changed out to gym fit and browsed the place to adjust for working out. Unfortunately, my brain didnt adjust well as thete arent towels nor mats. Its pretty small, and split level with stair master/treadmull and other machinery of the sort upstairs. The gym presented clean throughout as well as quiet. Im not sure if its due to it being 2pm. Needless to say, I did not workout as this gym is minimal with what Im use to receiving and wasnt prepared for this gym without the towels and mats I would probably only come if the others closed for whatever reason. So with that being said, I personally will continue wirking out at Reisterstown or Padonia locations.

The facility is small…read morebut well maintained with a decently equipped weight room and tons of treadmills, stair masters, and ellipticals. One of my biggest complaints about my old gym was that it didn't have nearly enough treadmills for the size of the facility so I was often waiting for someone to leave at peak hours. This has never been an issue at Brick Bodies. I also love that the cycling room is typically open and available for use even if there's no class going on. The locker rooms are oftentimes clean and I love the lockers with built in locks -- no need to bring your own! I don't do any of the classes here anymore (mainly because I'm also a CorePower member and prefer their classes) but they offer a wide array for different skill levels. I took one barre class here but wasn't a fan of the instructor and the pace of the class wasn't intense enough for me. I would love to see towel service be introduced here. When I joined back in 2021 I thought the lack of towels was a Covid-era, thing but fast forward to 2026 and they still don't provide any. It's $50 a month ($25 every two weeks) making it a more affordable option compared to my previous gym.

This Planet Fitness is a completely serviceable, average example of the PF franchise. It's usually…read morereasonably clean, has enough equipment to accommodate everyone with limited waiting except during peak hours, and mostly polite patrons. The price is definitely right: $24 a month for the cheaper plan advertised as "$15/month" and $29 a month for the "$24.99" "Black" membership that allows you to use any PF location, massage chairs and tanning beds. (Actual prices I mentioned includes the additional annual and starting fees). The downsides--not horrible issues, but at times bothersome: -Dumbbells max at 75 lbs -No barbells/benches--only Smith machines -Some equipment needing servicing -The locker rooms seem to be in a constant state of disrepair with damaged stalls and showers, which seems common at many gyms -Staff don't seem inclined to remind patrons to be respectful of others when they are loudly moaning from pleasurable workouts, shouting music lyrics, and playing music on speakers

Outstanding downtown location…read more Larger space and more workout equipment than Merritt and other gyms in the area. The workout equipment is excellent, generally kept in decent condition and updated regularly. Simple, fair membership agreements that can be canceled, temporarily suspended, changed to other PF locations, all easily. This is NOT common in the fitness industry. Other clubs seem to compete for which one can write the most one-sided, burdensome and overall toxic membership agreements. A simple $25/month membership allows one to visit any Planet Fitness facility in the world and there are around 2,500 Planet Fitness facilities. With a Black Card ($25/month) membership, you can bring a guest whenever you wish. Never any charge for bringing one guest. You can bring more than one guest for a small payment. Easy going staff, chill ambience. The folks who work out here are mostly there to work out. Negatives? The locker rooms need to be updated. They don't have a pool or sauna. But overall, for a large, well-equipped urban fitness center, Planet Fitness on Charles Street is extraordinarily well-priced and in my view a great place to work out for those of us who work, live or visit in the urban core of Baltimore City.
