Best gym in Baltimore. You will not find another one like it. Best part? This gym has its own dog! People who come to Exile really care about lifting. There are many bodybuilders and powerlifters, but there are also many people who just come to be healthy and stay in shape. This gym is for anyone and everyone and it's hard not to make friends here. There is a TON of equipment. All types of bars and lots of dumbbells as well as cardio equipment. There is also an upstairs that's kind of hidden but there is turf and other lifting equipment and it's usually quiet up there. There is also a women and trainer only section on the first floor. The machines are mostly old and everything is mismatched, but that's what gives the gym it's unique vibe. It's kind of like a workout museum and all the members love that. It doesn't get the nickname "East coast Mecca" for nothing. read more

Best gym in the world! I moved to Baltimore for two months and moved back to Texas and have not found another gym near as amazing! Wonderful community with Seth and Brik. Loki and his mama always made my day when I came into the gym. Everyone is so friendly, but also so focused on their goals and helping you get to yours. There is a women's only section which I loved because I felt more comfortable trying out new exercises there. I can be a bit shy, so I do not like to be on display. Plenty of squat racks and smith machines to go around. I love how they had multiple cardio options not just treadmills, but row machines, bikes, cycling bikes and more! Exile Performance Nutrition right in the front was awesome too! Always knew the answer to my questions! Great that you can get a water, bang, or Kenny's cookie then be on your way. Bmore MMA great too! Super nice that you can get discounts on memberships if you have both. Can also get discounts for teaching etc. Showers at Exile are spacious and clean! I lived in Baltimore and I would only shower at the gym. My home shower was the size of the chokey in Matilda. I worked out everyday, so this was a nice add on! The complimentary womens' products was a plus too! If someone forgot shampoo, lotion, or deodorant there is a little communal box to share. Exile is probably my favorite that I have ever been too! I was in town for a wedding and got a recommendation come check out Exile, I was not expecting it to be the coolest gym ever! The GM was a great guy and very friendly, there was a lot of big dudes there who were all really cool and nice! Dozens and dozens of awesome pieces of equipment, Very bodybuilder and Powerlifter friendly. I would give anything to have a facility like Exile in Pittsburgh! read more

The best gym I've ever belonged to. I was privileged enough to be able to call this my home gym for over 2 years before moving to PA. Bob and Sheila are amazing. They'll take care of you and help you with whatever you need. Truly a gym that wants to have rare equipment and bring that good old school feel in. The members are hardcore, gym addicts. I was a member of Exile for many years . I brought my foster son there and asked the owners wife Shiela if I could film my foster son as he takes his first tour in a gym. She said yes by all means. I have this on video . As soon as I walk through the threshold of gym the owner of Exile nutrition walks behind me and my foster son yelling my name . I was thinking here we go my foster son is about to get the big talk about training and being better . But instead he got big on us flexing his muscles saying put the camera down after I had permission. Saying people don't want to be in pictures . However, no one but my foster son was in the frame . He scared him so bad after telling us to leave right away . Have you he is only a 7 year old boy . I am a girl who likes to lift weights. Heavy weights. I don't put on makeup or brush my hair and get all pretty before I leave for the gym because I intend to SWEAT and CRUSH SH*T *smashes empty Rockstar can against forehead* When I first moved to Baltimore, I wasted $80ish bucks a month to go to Merritt where everyone walked on the treadmills and ellipticals while browsing their cell phones. That's assuming you could even get on the equipment because it got so crowded with sluggish people that you'd have to wait in line forever to use anything. Then my SO introduced me to his gym: Exile. Before he took me for the first time, he warned me that it wasn't a pretty place, and if I was in any way offended by sweat, lots of testosterone, walls lined with metal and mirrors, or the sound of slamming weights, it probably wasn't the place for me. I proceeded with caution.... and fell in LOVE with this place. Why? There are no contracts if you don't want one. The gym is open 24 hours with the swipe of a key card. There is a huge parking lot outside which always has spaces. There is an amazing martial arts studio right next door. The equipment at the gym is badass, and you'll find unusual pieces here you won't see anywhere else, including a lot of Rogue CrossFit stuff and bumper plates. And the equipment is always functioning. If it's not, the gym's owner, Bob, will be on the ground fixing it right away. Speaking of Bob (a former bodybuilder), he is an awesome guy who will go out of his way to make your gym experience amazing. He will let you try supplements for half the price you'll find them for at the store, give you great workout advice, and is always reachable by his cell phone, even if it's in the middle of the night and you're having an emergency at the gym. And my favorite thing about Exile? The people. You'll find Baltimore's best bodies here because these people spend time exercising, not socializing. Just being around a group like this is more motivating than anywhere else I've ever been. This gym is the best. Soooo yeaaaah!! I'm still in love w/ this spot! Since my last review they fixed the concern about the HVAC unit (actually like a week after my review) - Can I say 'EPIC'!! I STILL (unlike other gyms where you can't find anybody after your contract is locked-in) get direct and open access for diet, stretch & workout advise w/ the owner & his awesome gf (she cracks me up!!). Don't let the no neck, huge muscle, 150-250lb squatting guys scare you... almost all of them are respectful, fitness helpful, teddy bears... My pers trainer (Mr. G) is Hi-5! I had worked out here as a guest. A friend of mine had a membership. The 24-hour access seemed convenient. Today, I called and asked how much a membership would cost. The man who answered listened to my question. He then sighed, paused and hung up. I called right back, and the phone rang until it went to voicemail. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I called back the next day. Bad phone line, right? Wrong!!! The phone just rang and rang until a recording stated that the voicemail box was full. When I told my friend she said it didn't surprise her. She has since joined Crossfit. My take away is that they don't need your business and could care less about being bothered. read more

Fantastic for powerlifting purposes. I would highly encourage owners to put bottles of Poo Pourri in restrooms. Or get better restroom ventilation/doors? Often--very often--gym smells like #2, making it hard to concentrate on working out (specifically near the restrooms/squat racks). Otherwise, fantastic! read more

It's a 5-star experience each time. When you arrive, the staff at the counter know you by name. Then the locker area are so clean and spacious. The shower and bath are the same. Plus the things you need (equipment) are well-maintained. read more
