I love going to MVMNT spin classes. It's a great and fun way to break up a boring gym cycle, and the instructors are great!

SPENGA is new to the Ann Arbor community. Overall five…read morestars. Here are my favorite things: when you walk in, there are readily accessible lockers. So go ahead and bring your water bottle, winter coat, keys and wallet. You can set your own code. It costs zero extra dollars to use a locker. They're white with an access code and very useful to use. SPENGA went out of their way to make sure you are ready to work out. Extra tampons in the bathroom. Hair ties or ear plugs or gum to grab if you need it at the front desk. Really friendly and smiling faces greet you as you walk in. If you come early enough and are working out with a friend, you can request your bikes to be next to each other. The staff are SO personable that they'll make a note if you are friends with someone so next time you come in they'll put your bikes together. I mean come on! That's service! I have a hard time in my own life to figure out who I'm friends with , lol! Their equipment is all brand new and their facility is clean, updated, and modern. My personal favorites are how long and new their yoga mats are. I can stretch out fully on it without touching the floor. The first time I used their mat I was surprised how new it felt. The bikes are all new cycling tech. They have enough weights for everyone to have a station so you don't have to share which is nice if you want to adjust your weights. SPENGA is three parts. Spin, strength, and yoga. It feels like you're going clubbing inside. They show you which section you are doing by illuminating with lights the section you're working out. Everything else is in the dark. It makes the workout feel more exclusive, like you're part of some cool club. It took me about 2.5 sessions to fully understand how to adjust the resistance of my bike to make my "bar" light up green. The spin portion was by far the hardest to understand what was going on. Go 20 to 30 min early so an instructor can assist you. Once you get the hang of it, it's a good workout. The music is awesome. Just be prepared to have watery legs and a sore bum. I would love strength more if there were less transitions during the very quick 20 min. The workout definitely had me sweating! So it's a good workout. It just moves way too fast for me. I'd rather do just a couple of movements in that time period. The workouts are a combination of using dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, steps, and medicine balls. I love the yoga part because I never stretch in my life, lol. I would recommend to the instructors that some of your audience has never done yoga before and are unfamiliar with the names. So demonstrating instead of just announcing is helpful. They have blocks and straps for ppl like me who are inflexible. But Like I said this is my favorite part. I feel really accomplished at the end of yoga. I love it. Overall, I find SPENGA to be really pricey. I don't think I can commit to their higher prices. If they lowered their one time visits I would go more. However it is a great workout and a great atmosphere. The coaches are kind and pumped and great at what they do. The facility is impeccable. I definitely recommend anyone to go and check it out. I have not regretted going when I went. I've done about five sessions and always left feeling great.

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars. This is definitely the best on-campus recreation facility…read morecompared to the newly renovated NCRB and the needs-to-be-renovated CCRB. But what it has in comparison to the other two buildings does not make up for what it lacks. Just like the NCRB, there's AC all over the building! What I like about the IM building better than the NCRB is that the equipment isn't so close together, so it feels more spacious. The views from the windows are also more scenic than looking out of the NCRB. However, I think the IM building has less equipment than the other two recreation buildings. But I find that fewer people go to IM. I also dislike how IM does not have an indoor track, nor does it have any free lockers, or at least ones I could easily find.

A previous reviewer described the gym as "state of the art." I think this is accurate. I was amazed when I first walked in soon after the renovation. It's bright and clean, and all of the equipment are updated. I like the open floor plan of the main weight room, and I usually don't have to wait long for a bench or machine. There are plenty of benches in the free weight area and sufficient mirror space. The eight squat racks and three deadlift areas are beautiful. I use the room across from the racquetball courts pretty often, and it's usually well-kept. It offers everything from kettle balls to boxes to TRX cables. I also use the two cardio rooms sometimes. The one on the second floor has some lighter weights and machines as well as treadmills and ellipticals, and the one on the third floor has rowing machines, treadmills, and Stairmasters. A unique area of the building is the lounge between where you enter and the weight room. There are TVs, foosball tables, and even a desk attached to a treadmill. The only thing I'd change about this gym is the availability of lockers. There are only about six tall lockers, and usually they're all taken during busy times. Other than that, I love working out here! I choose this spot over the CCRB always.

I moved out A2-way during the earlier days of COVID last year and needed a place to exercise. Remembered enjoying Wolverine Strength and Conditioning several years back and decided to give it a go. At that time, they were doing outdoor workouts, which was a big bonus! Plus, there were a lot of really great people both training and being trained. It was the most social thing that I was doing at the time - so not only did I improve my health by exercising regularly again, I also improved my health by having a social connectedness that was lacking in so many other areas of life. After the summer months, we headed inside. They made nice little "parking spots" with all the equipment separated out so that you had your own space. Of course they required face masks, per state regulations. But they also took extra precautions by giving us cleaning towels and products to wipe down the equipment after every use. They also had us go to the common areas in groups to keep contact down. Now that the weather is turning nice, they have told us that we will be going outside periodically again. It's SOOOO great of them to do that since it really is hard on the equipment, plus it's labor intensive. I honestly can't say enough good things about this gym. If you're looking to get your health in check (especially since we know that health is SO IMPORTANT when it comes to infectious disease) - definitely check this place out. You can drop in for free (one session), and then the $160/month is for month-to-month without an annual commitment. It's like getting a personal trainer - but for a LOT less! I cannot believe the changes I've seen in my body in less than a year... and how much more agile and good I feel. For the record, I'm 47 years old and feel better than I think I've ever felt. I may have gray hair... but I wouldn't mess with me if I were you! ;) Haha.
