Maybe it has changed since 2004, but who knows... Anyway, I didn't learn basic math until I was 19 years old. Seriously. I literally could not do short division... well, until I went to the Long Beach School for Adults. At the time (I don't know about presently), they had a math learning center for remedial dummies like me and they had the most kind, caring, compassionate teachers there. They saw I was red-in-the-face embarrassed that I didn't know this basic stuff (nevermind that I blew the English assessment out of the water) and they re-assured me that it was fine, this was completely normal, and that they would get me up to speed. And they did. I learned all the math I needed to know and now, I am currently a calculus student at the college level. :-) I'll never forget my experience here!

RACE has such a wide range of classes varying from art classes for adults to swim classes for children. The office staff is very attentive and provides a lot of information to inquiring visitors. My mom has taken a digital photography course to advance her photography skills as well as the Introduction to Reiki course years ago, which she highly recommended for me to take as it taught her essential massaging techniques that she still utilizes. Also, I recently enrolled my little brother into the karate class offered by the Recreation Department, and he loved it! I completed keyboarding with Mrs. Schulthess in January and just finished Microsoft Word and Excel (Intermediate) last week (ending on 3/12/21) with Mrs. Enriquez. These classes may not be the Masters or Bachelors degree that most students try to complete, but these certifications are good to get your foot in the front door as my accounting certification did for me back in 2006, and without paying thousands (maybe even tens of thousands) of dollars. I look forward in a few weeks to starting and completing the Microsoft Word and Excel Advanced before summer.

I discovered Continuing Education does not offer financial aid since it all has to be approved by a jobs center that intakes applications under Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. UCI reputation is world class because of the students, management and teachers. Every institution has bad and good teachers. Right now with COVID economic depression I can't afford risk being stuck with a bad teacher. Based on my experiences with UCI and other reviews I won't pursue my online training at UCI.
