    They sell dog toys too.
    Lisa X.

Such a cute store with lots of toys and decor items located in the Inner Sunset. I recently revisited this store and while browsing for myself, I brought my Pup a dog toy. I usually let him pick out his own toys but this time, one of the staff brought over this Starbarks Drink toy and he's obsessed with it. Especially with the straw stuck out begging for him to chew. Friendly service. Update: We still have this dog toy but the straw part is gone. He still loves it.

This store has the best SF magnets I've seen! They're eell crafted and look fancy unlike a lot of the ones you'll find in other gift shops. There's also a great selection of cards for all occasions, including a lot of ones with pop culture references (cards with post malone, the beatles, schitts creek, the office etc.).

I was with my girl in this store and she thought this silly mushroom thing was cute so I wanted to surprise her with it. I went up to the shopkeep and made a gesture of silence and nodded towards my girl and the shopkeep instantly "understood the assignment" and quietly took the toy and scanned it, and then she distracted my girl with some sales technique on some cards as I made the payment. My girl did not notice any of it and when I showed her the toy later on, she thought I was Houdini, James Bond, 007 combined into one hahahah, but thank you to the shopkeep for being so awesome!!!

I've always loved walking in to see the various gift ideas at Wishbone. Today I came across their selection of Jellycat soft toys and wanted to buy them all. From bunny to brie cheese to octopus to boba cup - they had it all. Also reasonably priced. Will come back for more gift buying!

I had been to Wishbone a few times since we moved here in 2003. I had seen it around 9th and Irving. How can you miss the shop's outside painting(with a wishbone in sea foam green and pink)? When you are on the Muni around 9th and Irving, you see Wishbone. It's a funky, cute store with a nice pick of items in the store. There's always something new. It never seems to be the same in the store. Today, I wanted to write my Yelp review for Wishbone. I got a book called "We Only Dated for 11 Instagrams." HAHA. That spoke to in volumes. And it's about A-holes in Los Angeles. Wishbone is worth looking at. You get gifts for your significant other or kids. It's super cute and it's owned by Cory. It's been running for at least 20 years.

Well, ok, this place isnt close to Union Sq, about a mile away, but it was a perfect delicious end destination for a post dinner stroll! I like bookstores and I like eclectic, unique ones. I'll go to Barnes & Noble if I had no other choice, but my favorite bookstores are independent ones and ones where they carry very unique books you can't find elsewhere. This bookstore made my inner little nerdy self so happy. I immediately got lost up front looking at very recent publication by Ai Weiwei. I then wandered onto the main floor and found an entire section of Asian works, which you will not find at B&N. I also found books from Norwegian writers too which I had never seen before, which thrilled me. I then made my way up to their attic floor which is dedicated to poetry and seems I just missed Allen Ginsberg's Howl centennial celebration. Ugh! I then came back down and then proceeded to their basement section and again I was quite pleasantly surprised by the depth and breadth of Asian themed books they had. They had plenty of the Chinese classics in English and found so many different versions of Journey to the West, I was completely overwhelmed. And then, saw an entire section on Africa and I had to fight hard to not pick up a copy of a book titled Prison Letters, which is a collection of Mandela's letters while imprisoned. I ultimately settled on two books by Ai Weiwei as he has continued to inspire me to be proud, to not conform, to be brave, to speak up, to be authentically and unapologetically me, to honor my ancestry and to push boundaries and to fight for what matters. And it just so happens too that my Chinese give name is also Weiwei. I loved coming to this bookstore and it will definitely be on rotation for me when I am in SF again.

What I love here are the carefully curated staff selections that are found everywhere. There are always unexpected finds and books you'd never unearth online all housed in this labyrinth of a store. One of my favorite Sunday rituals: browsing until I find something unexpected, and then heading down Clement for dim sum, some thrifting, maybe a Kamei treasure, a strawberry crepe, and some Asian groceries. A Green Apple visit makes the outing complete. San Francisco still has a few good remaining bookstores, and the selection hidden in the winding nooks and crannies at Green Apple, keep it near the top of my list.

They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. That was the only downside, but I think it's a very charming bookstore otherwise.
