I asked for a rounded haircut with lots of layers and face-framing pieces and I showed her my inspo photos as well. She first washed my hair and then got started on the cut. Yessenia did an amazing job! She was friendly and professional and gave me exactly what I requested. I wasn't sure whether to go with lighter or heavier curtain bangs/face-framing pieces, and she knew exactly what would suit me when she suggested sticking with lighter face framing. She also somehow managed to style my frizzy Indian hair perfectly without using much tension on the brush, which was shocking to me. She charged me $95, which makes sense since I have long hair that goes about down to my bra at the longest part. I was excited to find a great salon so quickly after moving here. I made another appointment with Lily for August 21, but she had to cancel due to travel and suggested I get my hair cut by Anh-Xuan instead. I was hesitant to switch, but my hair has been getting really thin and stringy from hard water, so I really needed the cut. On my booking confirmation, it said the haircut would be $85. My hair was the same length that it was when I got my first cut with Lily. The cut was fine, not as good as with Lily, but good enough. When it came time to pay, she went straight to the tipping screen, and I chose 18%. I was shocked to see the total bill come to $140, but I thought maybe I'd forgotten how much it cost last time. As I walked to my car, I double checked my booking and email receipt. The booking still said $85. The receipt said she charged me $120, plus tip. I went back and checked my email receipt from my first haircut there, and it confirmed that one was $95 plus tip. I walked back into the salon thinking it must be a mistake. I showed Anh-Xuan the booking confirmation that showed $85 and said $120 seemed like a mistake. "$85 and up," she responded. I've never heard of a $35 upcharge for long hair without any written indication. Their website as of today still said $85. The receipt had a feedback button, so I left feedback with screenshots proving all of this and suggesting they make their pricing more transparent. I thought that would be the end of it, and maybe I'd get a partial refund, but no. Instead I get a TEXT MESSAGE to my personal phone number from Anh-Xuan claiming the changed prices in 2026 (two days after my last appointment, supposedly). She said these are the new prices, and it would be the same with Lily as well. I responded saying this was a really large discrepancy, and that if they changed their prices, it should be reflected somewhere on the booking and website. She then went on to blame me, saying that if I hadn't been there in eight months, that meant my hair had grown 8 inches, and that she believes my hair must have been at shoulder length when I came last time. I mean, first, hair doesn't grow an inch a month; mine grows a normal half an inch per month. And I was with Lily for a haircut, at which she cut four inches, so my hair was back to the exact same length as my first haircut. This whole thing is so shockingly unprofessional. I really liked Lily, but now I'm afraid to come back here again in case I run into Anh-Xuan again. And I should have checked her reviews sooner, but I can see she has been overcharging people since at least 2025. I probably would have just avoided the salon and not bothered leaving this review, except Anh-Xuan's text messages were so unprofessional. Highly recommend Lily, and also confirming the price in writing before your appointment.
