i've been a member for years and they really, REALLY make an effort to make this place as good as…read moreit can be. Always have. Even when freezing my membership during Lockdown and other times i couldn't afford it between gigs. Sure they inadvertently overcharged me for seven months recently by accident (and I didn't follow up) but it only amounted to $200 or so dollars total. So i asked myself: when does life become more important than money? Here. And the monthly charges are indeed hefty but I've never had a run in with rude employees, busted or rude employees of contract switcheroo's - all of which you find at other gyms. So i look at this way: as we get older, we exercise or we're going to have problems sooner. I'm past the old fifties and this could be my last active decade. Our phones are softening us up and not for good but there's also age so why not go out spinning, lifting and grinnin'! And another positive observation, Ace - how they do it here - I can't tell you but daily, they're mixing kids, adults, the elderly and every stripe of our cultural landscape together under one roof without any apparent issues at all. That alone is worth whatever they charge. We could all learn from this. Reminds me of my beloved Denmark. Normalcy, kindness and respect. It's nice to go to a place that's as much Peace Time as Exercise Time which of course makes Lifetime. Yes it's not cheap but if you want cheap, you become cheap. And investment here isn't subject to risk. You know those annoying brokerage or investment caveats? Not here: you put in the lifetime, you extend the life. And get this Yelp of an adage of mine: a gym is one of the few investments of time where if you honestly put the work in, you honestly get results. Yeah. That's what I'm talking about! Personal growth, Baby! Ah Rudyard Kipling. And you can't script this. I'm doing pectorals like Ren and the next thing I know, a phone call comes in from a Summit number and who is it? Berkeley Heights Life Time! "Sir um is this Charles Savoth?" "Why yes", says I. "Well someone returned your credit card at the front desk!" Honest members, honest gym, honestly I'm not the sharpest "bulb" in the gymnasium firmament! But really are bulbs sharp? I don't know but I'm happy as a clam Lifetime has my back, my Buddha front and my slippery plastic! And clams are happy - they're always smiling. Again personal growth on a mollusk-u-lar level!

I am finishing up my first month at D3 Fitness with Coach Donnie. What a great place! Donnie is…read morerunning a Small Group Training program that is perfect for people getting back to the gym after a break; coming back from an injury; training at a challenging level; and desiring to maintain flexibility and fitness without exposure to crowds. With a background in physical therapy, Donnie is able to modify and direct everyone in the small group through a range of dynamic stretches, strength ,and cardio exercises with attention to the level and needs of the individual. I have not been in a class with more than 5 other people. Average has been around 4 people. I would advise anyone who has been hesitating to do something about getting back on a workout schedule to take advantage of this ideal situation. Years ago I worked with a trainer in a gym and The level is completely disparate. Or Donnie's level of experience is just so global it makes other trainers in comparison seem very limited. He has years of experience and he is designing every workout so you are not bored and feel you feel there is a Master Plan to it all. What is quite surprising is how affordably he is offering the Small Group Class. He is even allowing a pay as you go cost of $20 per SGT. This is as close to a personal trainer as you can get and pay a class fee. It's just that you are going through a guided regimen with a few other people. You can also commit to a monthly fee that will lower the cost of the training. Regarding personal training: for basic personal training the current rate is very reasonable and actually an incredible value for what you get. I am coming to training with various old injuries that have to be monitored. I feel that I am getting continued physical therapy for those injuries and building strength and adding stretching for prevention. Examples of Equipment: Trx; Bosu; kettle balls; hand weights; dumb bells; sleds; stretching bands; universal style weight machine; rowing machine; jump ropes; medicine ball; stretching equipment. In short, do not hesitate to start exercising in a safe environment with a top notch trainer. Who knows what the future will bring with covid and restrictions. I feel very safe going to a smaller environment with like-minded careful clients and an assiduous owner.

Prepaid the owner, Donnie, in August 2018 for on-site sessions but later in March 2019, he decided…read moreto run his gym business and stopped the on-site training. In total he still owes me $1200 worth of unfulfilled sessions. Strongly not recommended.

    Underground Strength Gym

    Underground Strength Gym

Positivity. Strength. Integrity. Commitment…read more Four words that perfectly describe the Underground Strength Gym. I've been training consistently with Zach Even-Esh and his trainers (normally called coaches) at all of the USG locations for the past 7 years and I have transformed not only my physique but also my life. I went from not being able to do one pull up to cranking out 10 or more with ease and deadlifting over 300 lbs. Along with muscle I have gained immense confidence in myself leading to greater opportunities outside of the gym. Zach Even-Esh is the founder of the Underground as well as the current head Strength & Conditioning coach of Rutger's Wrestling team who has authored his own book "The Encyclopedia of Underground Strength and Conditioning," and has had his training methods heralded by many including author Tim Ferris. He is the real friggin deal. The USG has a one-of-a-kind team that not only gets you in shape but they help you get the proper form/technique, mindset, and support needed to enjoy lasting results. I've never been to a gym where the trainers cared so much for everyone that steps foot in the gym. There is always a coach on hand for each session making sure everyone is performing at their own level and executing workouts with proper form to avoid injury. USG is the first gym I've been to that promotes a positive, fun atmosphere. I've never felt more at home at a gym than this one. While it is easy to get intimated and disheartened at a franchise gym it's not uncommon for coaches and attendees of the Underground to get along and grow mutual respect for one another. Unlike most gyms USG only has sessions with an assigned coach. Sessions last an hour though you are welcome to stay extra to continue working out if you'd like. Regardless of if you've never been to a gym or you're an athlete actively competing Zach or one of his coaches will work with you to ensure the workout of the day is tailored to your experience level. Since going here I went from having limited gym experience with hardly any strength to doing what everyone else in class was doing in about 3 months. In that time frame I was able to do my first pull up. I initially went once a week and began going 3 or more times depending on my schedule. Attendees range from high schoolers to adults either competing in sports or looking to stay active and improve themselves. People of all ages and genders work out together in sessions according to their level and age range. It's not uncommon to see the high school kids working just as hard as the adults or even harder. It's truly remarkable. Be advised this gym is not for the faint of heart or casual gym goers. If you are not totally committed to your training and goals you might be better off at a franchise gym. It's not uncommon to see someone giving a half hearted attempt to leave during their first session. It's a fun place to be but you need serious commitment to stay here. With the positivity and support Zach & his team offer it's no surprise to hear of the local and state champions the USG produces. Some attendees have gone on to significant achievements not only in sports but also their personal lives. If you're looking to make a change you better get Zach on the horn ASAP!
