Guys who flat-out never show up, then call the following week to see if I still want the work done... I could go on, but, you get the idea. This is why I'm still pinching myself for having found a unicorn in the handyman world. Helpful Home Maintenance (HHM) meets or exceeds all the benchmarks of what one wants in a good handyman: - Responds quickly to inquiries (phone call, email, text). - Shows up at the agreed-upon time. - Bids the project accurately & quickly. - (Very) reasonably priced. - Quality work. - Attention to detail. - Does what they say they're going to do. - The guy that starts the job is the one who finishes it. I've employed HHM twice now, & have been delighted by the work they've done. In both instances, the results of the work have turned out even better than what I'd imagined. I don't know what to make of it. The above-mentioned benchmarks seem reasonable (they're the minimum expectation in every other trade), and yet, I've found only one company that hits the bullseye.
