Ground beef burrito - quite disappointing.
CASSIE L.

I normally get tacos and occasionally elote from here but today I really wanted a burrito and I was right around the corner. I typically love this place but yikes what a disappointment this was. The burrito was $13. $10 plus a convenience fee and tax. It's listed as ground beef, rice, beans, cheese, pico, and sour cream. I asked for no beans, extra sour cream. There are no beans so I guess that part was correct, but there's also no sour cream and no cheese. There is, however, an absurd amount of peas. Even more absurd considering there's barely a spoonful of meat in each half. I think because of the lack of meat and small amount of pico there's really no flavor. I've had the same issue with lack of seasoning in the flautas - light on filling and I feel like generally their food is lacking salt but there are worse things to deal with. I will say the tacos have always been very good. A few times I've gotten the wrong items which was disappointing, and their fish tacos are grilled which is a key point to know when you're in the mood for a fried fish taco, but overall this part of the menu tends to slap. In general I wish things were more consistent and better seasoned but I'll keep going back and taking my chances.

Chips and Guacamole

Guacamole has a good taste, but unfortunately i wish would have known if there's more size available?; anyways tasty chips too many but now enough guac.. :/

I seem to have the best experiences at smaller restaurants, especially when it comes to service. Small neighborhood restaurant with seating inside. Instantly greeted and presented with menus. Has a good selection of Mexican dishes, including sweets and shakes. My go to is always tacos, and was not disappointed but could have used more seasoning. The cherry on top of was the SWEET tres leches cake and World Cup on the tv.

Veggie Tostadas

Excited to try My Mexico again after my fist take out meal. I had the shrimp tacos and they were really good, definitely order these! I also had the veggie tostadas and the guacamole and chips. Tostadas in general don't travel well, and these really suffered from it. Plus I am not a huge fan of vegetables in replace of meat in Mexican dishes, I would rather just have more beans and avocado than zucchini and carrots. The guacamole was fine, really liked the portion size and the price.

Pollo Quesadilla

Talk about delish! Decided to venture out and order from a different Mexican restaurant while in Jersey City and I came across this restaurant. Decided to order my favorite which is fajitas and some tacos. To my delight the food was really good and filling. Of course, only thing I suggest is a little more protein with the fajitas. The tacos were really good enough protein and veggies and extra lime on the side and a lot of green and red sauce on the side as well. Let's not forget the guacamole, it's definitely real guacamole not fake. The quesadilla was really big too! You can taste the Oaxaca cheese, very authentic. The smoothie was good (not mine, my partners). In conclusion, I highly recommend that you order from this restaurant. My deliver person was Victoria and she was super nice! Kind regards, Eric

Tacos Al Pastor swimming in fat and missing pineapple.

I read reviews and that's was what made me choose My Mexico. I don't know what happened. Either reviews are biased or quality dramatically decreased. I love my Al Pastor, specifically for pineapple. I order Al pastor quesadillas. Major problem was that the were both swimming in fat... look at attached image. Second problem was that none of this had any pineapple in it. Soda was good tho. Not going to be my choice in the future. Do t like my food served in a pool of fat. I understand pork is fatty at times but that was crazy.

Birria tacos

I've only really gotten tacos from here because it's addicting!! Serving size and price points are worth the trip over. I love their lengua, al pastor, and chicken tinga tacos. Recently tried their birria tacos and it was everything!! 3 tacos is also the perfect amount to fill you up.

No cheese

I usually love this place but today I am highly upset. I ordered nachos and there is absolutely no cheese at all on these. Just dry and bland. I literally have chips with stuff on them. Smh just terrible

Me calling THEM 3x and them saying "its on the way"

Our server was very on top of her stuff, making sure we had everything we needed and we were enjoying the food. She even let us practice our Spanish with her when ordering! My sister ordered the chicken tinga tacos and I ordered the beef birria. Both taco orders came with 5 tacos (because of the deal, it is typically 4), onions, cilantro, lime, and radish. Don't sleep on the radish, it my favorite part to add a nice crunch! Both meats were very flavorful and tender. They also gave us green and hot salsa on the side (green was my fave) and the birria tacos came with some delicious consommé for dipping. We also ordered guac and chips as an appetizer which was very fresh, and our favorite jarritos flavors to drink. It's decorated very nicely inside - no frills, a few tables and chairs inside for dining in and even a bar-style area with stools for those dining by themselves. They also offer takeout of course, but I honestly enjoyed sitting down because everything was very quick and they took great care of us. We walked, but there is only street parking so keep that in mind when traveling here.

The outdoor patio is especially charming and creates a wonderful atmosphere for dining and relaxing. For food, I ordered the shrimp tacos with flour tortillas and the corn skillet, and both were truly amazing. The restaurant is located in the busy downtown area of Grove St. Jersey City. If you are lucky enough to get street parking great, if not there are some garages you can park in for a fee. I walked up and there were several employees at the entrance to the outdoor street-side patio chitchatting. They were very pleasant and quickly gave me a table. It wasn't busy. That's a key fact. Also I was dining alone. It took about 5 minutes for the waiter to come over and when he did he asked about my water preference and showed me the QR code on the table to get the menu. He left and came back and I gave him my order which was the carnitas tacos and a watermelon margarita. He quickly walked off and the food came out LITERALLY in 5 minutes. I was surprised because I was expecting the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa that's customary at most Mexican restaurants. Also I saw other tables with 2 or more with chips in front of them. So I asked a waitress that was passing by (since my waiter had seem to disappear) if I too can get the tortilla chips and she said it would be extra. Okay...well I started eating my food and my drink came out. The food was good. Flavorful. Temperature wise it didn't come out hot, it was warm... so it's not cooked to order. The drink was sweet and strong. So my reason for the three stars isn't the food or drink but more so for the service I received as a solo diner. My waiter never came back over to check on me! Had he done so I would have easily ordered dessert and something more to drink as I enjoyed the patio area. I had to wave him down to bring my check as he passed my table several times without even looking my way. Piece of me wanted to mirror his service in my tip but I still gave generously just to be a blessing. But I hate that I received poor service because I was a solo diner. I was a little jealous on how he treated the two other tables with 2&3 people. I spent over $50 here and left disappointed. So if you've reached this far, will I go back? Maybe. Just not alone. Looking for a quick dinner, I decided to come here on a whim. Because it was raining pretty decently, I opted to eat inside. There's a small size dining area in the back, though the ordering area and hallway leading there is a bit narrow. Anyhow, for those who are new, the concept is similar to Chipotle, except that they create everything for you behind the scenes. I basically opted for the burrito bowl except with the vegan chorizo (Tacorizo). Before adding the sauces, the Tacorizo had a good amount of heat to it. I simply added the two mildest sauces and it was just enough. Bowl tasted great and it was obviously very filling. Good spot for a quick bite.

That being said, the habanero sweet orange sauce and the elite corn they have from the sides menu... Best things I ate there! I don't even know what that orange mayo like sauce was on that corn but it made me sad knowing I only had two cute baby corns to eat, I just wanted to keep getting kernels in my teeth for that cob. And the habanero sauce, was downright slurpable. I didn't bother drizzling when you can just take a shot of it after every bite of either taco, burrito, whatever you get. Had to separate this paragraph for the tacos I got. I got 4 tacos. A pollo pastor, a shredded chicken, regular pollo, and regular carne asada. Now pollo and carne asada, nothing too special. Standard but with the way they sauce it and present it, I can say solid taco. The pollo pastor...as someone who can't eat pork, this was a blast to eat. They use mini chunk pineapple and put a good amount of condiments to balance it all out. Chicken not dry and super flavorful. Also enjoy the single tortilla over double. Less carbs. Now that shredded chicken. While not dry, I don't know where that bite was taking me. I just wasn't feeling it and I can't pinpoint why. I don't know if it's the extra stuff on top of it, or the fact that the corn was my fave but the side sauces didn't help. I'd def come back for the other 3 but not that shredded one. That limonada was sooooo good and refreshing! I thought I'd get horchata when I had the chance but because that limonada was hitting right, didn't even bother. And the fact it's like unlimited refills if you get a drink, totally worth it! Overall, I appreciate the patience of the manager and cashier. They were really nice and helpful. The interior was sick too. Repurpose lockers for chairs. Baseball stadium chairs. Definitely tight but just right. I was struggling finding spots for Mexican food, I have a pretty high standard for it, but I'll give this a solid/perfection score lol
