a chicken salad in a foil container
    Darsha M.

Left my friends place in downtown JC super late and decided to stop by this food truck and I'm glad I did! My boyfriend and I ordered the chicken over rice and asked for extra red and white sauce on the side. Probably the best chicken over rice I've had in jersey, tastes exactly like the food trucks in the city! The chicken was juicy and tender and the red sauce was super spicy which I loved.

Just moved to jersey city and a buddy of mine has recommended this spot to me to get my halal fix in. Just went and the owner is very friendly, makes sure that you get what you like. Loaded with white and red sauce with tons of meat. This truck doesnt skimp out on quantity and their flavors are great. Will be my go-to

Good halal food! Got their lamb over rice ($7). The lamb is incredibly flavorful and tender. The lamb meat came with onions and peppers (optional). Served over yellow rice and small salad. All the ingredients tasted fresh. Topped with white and spicy sauce on request and you can ask for more if you're a white sauce fan like me. Opens from 4pm to 2am in front of 50 Columbus dr. They accept credit card.

I always love going to the Djura Grill! My boyfriend and I discovered this food truck last year when we were stepping out to enjoy summer even through the pandemic. We had parked by the Djura Grill and wanted something to eat at the Waterfront in Downtown Jersey City, and we found this holy grail. They are always so friendly with the customers, it takes about 10-15 minutes to make your platter and it tastes great! They always ask the clients how they want to customize their platter by adding a certain amount of white sauce and adjusting the spicy level. They have a small menu, but they do have French fries and veggie burgers for those who don't eat meat! Just an FYI! It's always my go-to whenever we have a Waterfront date. There are other halal carts closer to the Waterfront, but their portion sizes, the taste, and the customer service are unlike Djura Grill!

I ordered a side of Fries and a 7 pc order or Falafel. I have been here twice now with the same order and both times were fantastic. Service is top notch with incredibly friendly people working inside. Fries are great and i got them done well done both times. Falafel is some of the best i've had in a while. Thick and filling pieces full of flavor! I recommend the white sauce and hot sauce for anything you get. Will go back next time I see them and I'm hungry.

Djura Halal Food Truck in Jersey City. Worth trying!

The Djura Grill Food Truck is my favorite halal platter in Jersey City! I saw food trucks in this location on Columbus Drive for years now and finally decided to give Djuara a try a month back after a night out catching up with a friend. At the time, the food was delicious. For those trying to find a replica of patters in New York City, none of the places I visited outside of the City compare including Djura, but it's the best I've tried in Jersey City/ North Jersey area outside of Juicy Platters in Bergen County. I ordered the Falafel Platter with Rice and extra White/ Hot Sauces ($7). The platter was hot and made before us and the rice was fresh as well. The falafels were decent and also tasted good. The staff really do drench your platter with white sauce when you ask for extra, which is great! The staff here is extremely nice and helpful with the menu. I was also surprised when they picked up my phone call when I called to ask if they were open. Overall, great platters place outside of the City if you're out late or just craving platters, I would definitely hit up Djuara!

I went after a long long day at work. I got the salmon over rice and it was very delicious. The salmon was soft and buttery, rice was perfect with the salad. Man I want to go back right now. If i lived close, that would be my everyday spot. Can't beat it for $10, your not gonna find any salmon for that price let alone a whole dinner.

Lamb gyro w/white and hot sauce

I'm definitely breaking my own rule of waiting at least twice to visit somewhere before reviewing, but I just can't do it. I came to this food truck a few nights ago and haven't stopped thinking about it since. It could've been the fact that it was midnight on a Saturday and I was the only one willing to take the half mile walk to get here. It felt like a journey, avoiding stumbling drunks on Newark Ave, traversing the plane that we refer to as the Grove St. Path with it's flooding gates of people, before finally reaching Columbus Blvd. And there is it was, off in the distance. Not the closest truck to me but well within view. I got closer and closer and found my sanctuary. This was no fancy food truck on wheels. It was a nice, clean truck with signs of food w/attached prices, a typed up paper giving the price of hot dogs: $2/dog or 3 for $5, drinks on display w/two guys speaking in a non-English language to one another. I was overwhelmed with choices. I knew I wanted a gyro and the craving for the fries was also incredibly real well before I got here. And my girlfriend said she wouldn't hate it if I brought back some falafel. So that was that. I was helped by an incredibly, friendly man who was taking orders and manning the kitchen. I asked for a lamb gyro, order of fries, falafel platter and 2 cokes. Not a minute or two went by after he asked me if I would like fried peppers and onions on my gryo - very nice touch, sir. I waited several more minutes while a few others who had ordered before me received their food. My anticipation rose. Finally, it was ready. My man then asked me how much lettuce, tomato and cucumber I would like along with how much hot sauce and white sauce. Let's talk about this white sauce. Halal food is not complete without it. If you haven't tried it. You haven't lived. And you will undoubtably ask for extra, which is just what I did. Again, my man hooked me up. The grand total came to $17 plus a well-deserved tip. I scurried home and tore open my food like a savage animal. Holy cow, err lamb! This was good! The gyro is definitely the best I've had in recent memory and quite possibly the best I've ever had. The fries were the thick cut steak kind and were still super hot. The falafel was also nothing to sneeze about and my girlfriend loved the salad even though she said she wasn't hungry. Oh and the white sauce? It was oh so delicious. So you probably got more than you bargained for after reading my review. Sometimes I ramble but I also found it necessary. After all, I do need to get my point across that these guys are great. So great that they are open 4pm-4am every day and guess what?! They deliver via Uber Eats. So now you really don't have a reason not to go. I'm gonna go daydream some more about this truck. Byeeee

This is one of the best food trucks in Jersey City. I really like getting food at this place whenever I get the chance. Only $8 for a platter, and it's well worth it.

Run by a mom & daughter duo, Amma & Nur-E are truly so down-to-earth, full of positivity, and their energy is luminous. Amma is genuinely passionate about her craft and unbelievably humble! We arrived 10 minutes before 8pm and were greeted by Nur-E who literally shook our hands and welcomed us with open arms. The restaurant seats ~18 people so you can imagine how intimate, curated, and deeply rooted in tradition this dinner felt. Amma is from Dhaka, Bangladesh and with every course that came out, Nur-E described it to us in her expert storytelling ways! Everything we had was incredible. The Mango Lassi is blended by hand for that perfect consistency and refreshing, lightly sweet, homemade taste! After 5 whole courses came out, Nour-E came out and told us we had 7 more to go! So definitely come hungry and know you will leave beyond satisfied. My favorites were the Lau Chingri (Shrimp & Bottle Gourd Squash), the Rohu Fish Fried, the Murgir (Chicken) Roast & Palao, Beef Curry (Gorur Gostho) and Khashir (Goat) Biryani. Basically everything we had!! Each dish was balanced in depth, richness, and heat. The meats & fish were so tender, the rices were unbelievably fragrant, and the sauces were aromatic and layered rather than just spicy. The Rohu Fish Fried is imported from Bangladesh and lightly coated in spices and pan-fried until golden brown. This was my first time having this fish and it won't be my last! The Murgir (Chicken) Roast & Palao will live rent free in my head for a long time. It's richly caramelized, light yet aromatic, and deliciously comforting. I can see why this is usually a celebratory dish and is the only dish that Amma will serve at every Dawat Dinner! This dish is so popular that you can now find the recipe on Food & Wine. Speaking of accomplishments, the Lau Chingri (Shrimp & Bottle Gourd Squash) was named one of The New York Times' Best Dishes of 2025. We were also so lucky that Amma made her Mishti Doi for dessert! It's a sweet yogurt that has a custard-like creaminess and was the perfect way to end the meal after all those incredible flavors. We were so grateful to get a special one in a traditional clay pot. Also, there's tons of food but the staff will package any leftovers for you to take with you! They've literally thought of everything to make this an exceptional experience. Nur-E closed our dinner saying "food is life's greatest connector" and I couldn't agree more! Amma is truly an inspiration for opening Korai Kitchen at 61 years old, becoming a James Beard Nominee at 67 and getting 3 Stars from New York Times, and now signing her first cook book deal at 69. This is definitely in my top 10 meals of 2026 and is one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. I can't recommend Korai Kitchen enough.

The ambiance is largely due to daughter Nure whose incredible passion and enthusiasm throughout the night in describing Bengali culture, history and food was incredible! Mom and daughter combine to create an unforgettable dining experience that for me is unmatched and never to be forgotten. They are such gracious hosts and make everyone feel like family. As delicious as the food is, be prepared to take a lot home. You enter Korai Kitchen hungry, curious and with great anticipation. You leave full, satisfied and part of the family! Sorry for the lack of pics. I just went in as soon as the dishes started arriving, eager to savor the meal rather than to record it. My advice: Just go! Its a culinary adventure!
