They also have opened a restaurant on Newark ave called the halal station. It's right across from Patel brothers on Newark Ave . They currently have 3 spots right next to each other . As far as the food is concerned, it tasted better than my last trip. Maybe the food tested great because I haven't stopped in for a couple of months now. I've tried all carts around and there's a reason this cart survives everything (including the pandemic). I miss the New york carts, but this one makes up for it. The food is cheap and the taste is really good. I don't know what magic they sprinkle on the rice and meats, but the buttery smooth texture and amazing taste will keep you coming back here. Living In Jersey City, I would have to burn $5 in gas, pay a $15 toll charge, stand in line for 20 minutes and sit in traffic for about two hours to get rather average $7 Chicken over Rice. This Cart eliminated all the frustrations of that trek and replaced it with an even better tasting and cheaper alternative. The guys in the cart are super friendly and the food is consistently delicious. For $6, I get me go to chicken over rice with white sauce and extra hot sauce. The rice is delicious and the chicken is tender and cooked up fresh, along with a small portion of salad. They throw in a can of soda or a bottle of water in with your meal. I usually also mention that I want some pita, and they dice it up and warm it on the griddle and add it to the already overflowing container and it's only a buck extra! I'm not a big lamb fan, but people who order it tell me it's great. They even do a mix, half lamb, half chicken. Dress it with white sauce, which I am pretty sure includes liquid cocaine, and they also offer the hot sauce along with BBQ sauce, which is too sweet for my liking and experience nirvana. One a small side note, just like in the city, the red hot sauce is...HOT. I think I may have burned a few holes in my stomach lining, but I'm pretty sure I have spots that are still intact, so I'll stick to the extra hot sauce. read more

Rice are super tasty and so as chicken. Me and Mr. Always order the same and we loved it. They also gave free coke or diet soda with every purchase of an entree. It is exactly same as Halal guys except the beef. The white sauce is super delicious and red sauce is very hot and spicy. I am a big fan of halal guys and I am so glad that this is very near to my house and I dont have to go to New York to have the best halal chicken. Its very fair in price too. Really good halal food and affordable. The location, in my opinion, isn't too great as we had a difficult time finding it. It is a few blocks down from Journal Square across the street from the St. John the Baptist Church. The meats, chicken and lamb gyro, are well flavored and tasty. The rice is well cooked. This Halal food cart, which has changed locations a couple of times, offers basic, but tasty food at a very basic price. My usual dishes here are the chicken gyro, mix (chicken/lamb) over rice, and during Lent, their falafel sandwich. Their gyros/pita sandwiches consist of choice of protein, lettuce, and white and/or hot sauces and cost a mere $4. Rice platters include the same except with even more protein and a free can of soda. At $6, the price is proportionate to the extras you receive. The cart is notably less greasy than most of the carts I have tried in the city. It by no means is attempting to compete with the food trucks located throughout downtown JC and NYC. The owners are quite friendly and often hold conversations with regulars like myself. With regards to its location, this cart is now located on Kennedy Blvd between Brooks Pl and St. Paul's Ave, across the street from St. John the Baptist Church. It apparently was forced to move twice due to a nearby resident, who is apparently friends with Mayor Steve Fulop and wanted them transported away from a more easily accessible location. (The story has been corroborated by numerous folks who live in my building and are familiar with said resident.) While their food certainly isn't the healthiest, I make it a point to support these folks in part because of said issue. Such behavior has no place in Jersey City; we pride ourselves in being among the most diverse cities in the world. read more

The food is great. I've been there twice. My husband went once without me. We get the combo with extra white sauce and a little hot sauce. Their hot sauce is hot. I just moved from Southern California and Halal cart is non existent in there. Our time changed when Halal Guys placed their shop is Costa Mesa. I really loved Halal Guys food and got to know cool story behind Halal Guys and Halal cart culture in NYC. My Colleague who grew up in NYC gave bad reviews for So Cal location in comparison to NYC Halal guys. For me it was best food. Then they opened shop is Long Beach, closer to Home. Anyways, I always wanted to taste that NYC cart. Fortunately I came to the big apple, technically the sixth borough and the next day walking down JFK blvd I saw this cart. Immediately I ordered Rice and Chicken, white sauce, hot sauce just like halal guys. And all for 6$, wow thats cheaper than what I was paying. they even offered me 1 free drink. So, I am reviewing this in comparison to Costa Mesa and Long Beach Halal Guys. Pros they are literally cheap. Cons Their food tasted bland, It was not fresh, Rice tasted much better in Halal guys. Still this is a cart and I am yet to taste real cart in NyC. So, until then, 2 stars. Hope NYC will serve me good one. read more

We only eat Halal food and I stopped by the cart on my way to another service call I was running. I decided to grab a lamb gyro with rice and lettuce inside (by request) with white sauce and a Pepsi. The guy gave me my order wrapped up nicely so I could eat it in my truck while driving without dumping it in my lap. I asked him how much and he said 5$. I said are you sure I have a Soda. Usually stick with their lamb and rice platter; unforunately we don't think their chicken is hand slaughtered so we avoid it.
