Decided to get out of the house after being widowed for almost three years. I looked online and made My Place first destination. Ordered a beer and then must have gone invisible. This place looks a little sketchy from the outside but once you get inside it feels like any hometown bar. Cheap drinks, pool tables, DJ playing 90s pop music and hip hop. They have an extensive craft beer list, and the liquor drinks are strong. We came here on a recommendation from our server and we learned why. It's the bar where the LC hospitality industry goes after work. That gave it a great vibe with people who are ready to party. My only complaint is that it's super smoky. The contemporary culmination of class and carefully courteous correspondents cascade callously into a comfort cave such as this. In all actuality this is not a dive bar, sure it's not as well lit as other places, but in the grand scheme of things, it has a warm, welcoming staff, great draft selection, and great drink specials. My usual go to if it's a late night and each time I am greeted with the same generosity that I experienced from the beginning. There is one thing that needs to be said, this bar has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on fighting, if you fight, or try to start a fight in any way you will be banned for life. Basic idea is, "don't fight in bars", this isn't the Mos Eisley cantina and you can just say you don't like someone's face, as memory serves, you're liable to lose an arm. In conclusion this bar has been the location where many of my great memories have served and others too, so check it out. But if it's packed, understand it still is a bar, and everyone is waiting for a drink. read more

Let me start by saying if this place did not allow smoking it would be a 5. I can't get past that disgusting smell ruining my experience. Beyond that, this place has the best draft beer selection and tap turnover in Lake Charles. They have a massive selection of beers and at least 12 taps that I can see and more than double that in bottles and cans. It feels like a true dive bar dimly lit with pool tables. read more

Lake Charles only bar that stays open 24 hours a day, except on Sundays when they close at 2 am and reopen at midnight on Monday. This is a favorite among local graveyard shifters, wait staff, and bar tenders. They drink prices are decent and there is almost always a table with chairs available. There is a golden tee as well as a bowling video game, a couple of pool tables, and a few slot machines. The music played here most is metal. Feel free to hijack the jukebox. read more

If you're after Louisiana beers, this is pretty much as good as it gets in Lake Charles. They've consistently got 10 or so Louisiana brews on tap along with lots more bottled. It was a little boring. I was there for a couple hours and couldn't get a turn to play pool. They only had two tables and a dart bored.

Nice local environment with a lot if smokers. Not very clean and occasionally a good band playing.

Wow. I haven't written a review in ages. Terrible that place had to be so bad to inspire me to get back to it. I've got a great group of friends, we were in town to spend money and have a blast. After asking the cab driver to drop us at any local dive he recommended, we arrived at My Place. Service was less than friendly and we felt like we weren't wanted there, but we made the best of it because we're just fun people. After dropping hundreds of dollars and keeping to ourselves the OWNER attacked my boyfriend, literally grabbing him and throwing him to the ground. He's not one to back down to anyone but still managed to not be violent regardless. Obviously because this was the owner there was nothing we could do but cash out and leave as they tell us, we're banned for life! Wow. Out of 10 people in my group, not one person could tell you why the owner did what he did, but I'd rather saw off a limb than go back to that place. read more
