    Groovy patio

I give My Place Carson City a 4-star with prejudice. In a market with more options it would be a 3. But, for the limited pet-accommodating Carson market, they get a 4 in spite of the exorbitant surge pricing. It's probably the nicest and easiest place to stay *with pets* in Carson. I stayed twice in the prime summer market in order to manage my move out-of-state from Dayton. It was comfortable but honestly, pricey even accounting for the season. I probably could have luxuriated at the Whitney Peak in Reno for less than what I paid. But...it's Carson, not Reno. Pros: *Super friendly, knowledgable staff. *Comfy rooms and mattresses. *Pet Friendly. *Nice hang-out patio. *Convertible desk is fantastic to migrate between work and a place to have dinner. Cons: *Pet fee. *Room lighting is bizarre. (Only one side of the bed has a lamp and no way to manage overhead lighting. It's all or none.) *Quite stingy with the linens and toiletries. (Really? We're staying 4 nights and I'm worried about having to go ask for a roll of toilet paper?) *They don't enforce no smoking by the entry doors. *It's a standard room with minimal upgraded amenities (for the short-termer) to justify the premier pricing. *Like most hotels, there's no escaping pounding feet on the order of an elephant stampede from the rooms above. Notes: Their main audience is more long-termers. Yet they still market to short-termers but don't necessarily calibrate for that.

Hotel was extremely understaffed and cleaning team lied about rooms being done and signed off while the room was not being cleaned from previous guests. Pizza boxes, beer bottles, towels and piss stains. Check in was at 3 p.m. and I did not get to my room until 7 p.m. and J saw all that. The only saving grace that I did not give it a one star was Michelle. She was the only worker who was present in the hotel. Under this disasterous situation she did her best in cleaning the room herself, finish the checking in and make sure we get compensated for this delay. She finished cleaning around 11 p.m. which was the time I finally "checked in" my room, 8 hours after the supposed time. Room was nice but really a terrible job by janitors.

View of the front of the Absolute Worst Hotel in Carson City, Nevada! Please take my advice and not stay here!! It's beyond miserable!

We were greeted by a young man at the lobby who checked us in promptly. We went to our rooms and like some of us, first thing we wanted to check was the condition of the room. It gives off simple charm but we peeled back the layers of the bedding and were instantly met with disgust. There was a sheet that had dried blood on it and there was no mistaking what it was. There were other stains on each sheet as well as the comforter. We checked out the second bed, and while it wasn't as bad, it still had random stains all over the sheets. We had friends that took the room next to us and upon informing them of what we found, they looked at their bed and had similar experiences. The floors also were in desperate need of replacement as they have dark stains all over. I can understand that hotels will have some stains from time to time, but it was a bit excessive. The hallways also are in very poor shape but they at least hung a sign saying that they were aware of the carpet and were in the process of replacement. I guess I don't know exactly how long those signs have been present but I guess they don't need to be in any rush as "there is a sign". We went down to the front desk and they young man did offer a new room or new bedding. We just took the fresh linens and changed the bed ourselves. Later on, we went to take a shower and couldn't help but notice that there were only two full towels even though we have two full queen size beds and 4 people, but I guess it's assumed that you only need one towel per adult? I'm not certain, but once again had to call the front desk and they said they would come up and provide additional towels. Sure enough, in 10 minutes there was a knock at the door and the young man was there with additional towels. I jokingly looked at him and said, "Are you the only one working here in the hotel tonight?" as he was the only one that helped us several times and he said, "basically yes I am the only one here and I get off at 10 where another person comes in to replace me". Mind you, he was young and I would guess about 22 years of age, but to be running the entire hotel on his own seemed just unfair. The best part of this experience is that on their sign outside of the Inn, they actually say "Impeccably clean rooms", which really couldn't be further from the truth. Sadly, you get what you pay for and these rooms were very affordable but I don't think anyone wants to lay their heads down on someone else's dried blood.

I've been staying at the Hardman House for the past 15 years. It's the perfect location to downtown…read moreand the Carson City Wine Walk. This has been a family owned Business since the very first day I walked through the door and this visit I finally met one of the brothers who owns the place, Tedsh. He has a twin brother Dominick. The owner informed me their cousin who use to run the front desk who was my absolute favorite, Gurnay is going to nursing school! I miss her so much! She and I had a special connection and she was always so welcoming and made my stay extra special. The brothers are trying to update the Hardman House and make it authentic and not a Holiday Inn! They want to keep the prices at good value for all travelers. They have started on the remodel which has begun from the top slowing working their way down. Every time I stay there, I see improvements, all new bedding, custom mattresses exclusively for the hotel, Egyptian linens same as the Landing at Tahoe. Brand new roof and internet upgrades for Wi-Fi and televisions. They're in the process of remodeling the 3rd floor which is my favorite rooms. This time I stayed in Room 217 and it was different than my usual room. It was nice and roomy with a view of the buildings next door and not too noisy. Yes, the place is a bit run down and they have signs saying pardon our carpets in the hallways which are super old and unpleasant to look at. I can't wait for the new carpets and drapes!!!! In with the new and out with the old! You will have the comfort of your bed which is a beautiful thing and you will be well rested. They do have wine and cookie hour in the evenings and a small continental breakfast. The breakfast could be more appealing, maybe supporting one of the local bakeries in town would be a nice touch and moving the breakfast choices back to the table instead of on the end of the countertop. I look forward to my next stay this summer, hopefully on the 3rd floor with a nice fresh look and feel. I do love that they have underground parking which is a plus! You need to be mindful of the removal of old toilets, beds, and microwaves as they make improvements to the property. They be gone soon enough.
