As a 2 stars hotel, this place reminds me everything what a small compact used to have from TV, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, ice and soda machine, they also have self service laundry in the facility. If this doesn't worth a 4 stars, when the $250 casino hotel doesn't have shit basic in the room anymore and they worth your 4-5 stars.... We intend to forget what's the true basic need for us sometimes, the convince of a traveling through town to town on a budget means. Yes the buildings and structure is old and you be able to hear next door, but what earns the stars are the thoughts for the public needs thst count. Poor service at the start. Which was the reservation. We called to confirm they could accommodate a truck with trailer. When we got there limited room for truck and trailer. The person at the desk couldn't help with finding room for our truck and trailer. Thank you Joe for helping us park in the lot. The excuse was they were going to be full but I stayed up until 11PM and the parking lot still had room us. The rooms were nonsmoking but our room smelled like smoke and .bed sagged in the middle. Room #101 was in VERY POOR STATE OF REPAIR, floor around toilet seeps stinky water when standing in front of it, bathtub was disgusting, 1 of the 2 beds looked like it had not been changed, the window latch was broke, no lightbulb in the fixture between the two beds, the door safety lock was VERY difficult to operate. There were 3 cars parked around mine that did NOT have any licence plates on them, needless to say we slept with one eye open all night. Through it all they charged us top $$$ for it... read more

I am writing this in order to address a completely atrocious experience we had while staying at the Rodeway Inn at Nevada State Capitol in Carson City, Nevada. The dates of our stay were June 18-20th. I'd like to preface this by saying that we went into this not expecting luxury. I am well aware that this is a budget hotel. However, what we experienced last weekend is absolutely unacceptable and a complete disgrace to the Choice Hotels brand. On Friday while we were making the 7 hour drive up to Carson City from Las Vegas, I received a phone call from the hotel office. It was only 6:30pm but the gentleman on the phone wanted to confirm that we were still going to use our reservation. When I confirmed that we were on our way and close his exact words were "Well we are really busy tonight so I will give you 30 minutes before I cancel the reservation and give it to someone else". This is definitely not what the reservation said when I booked several weeks in advance. We have arrived much later to check in at other hotels and never had an issue. Thankfully we arrived before the reservation was cancelled. When I expressed that I was not happy being threatened and that he was violating Choice Hotel policy, he then told me that if I wanted to complain that he would just cancel the reservation now. I asked to speak to a manager but there was not one on site. He said he would call him but he was following instructions and that the manager would just cancel my reservation. If there had been anywhere else to stay in the area that evening, I would have. I have never received such atrocious customer service. This man literally threatened to keep my family from staying at the hotel if I complained at all because again, they were "really busy and could find someone else to take the room". His excuse was that my card didn't work even though this reservation was "Pay at check-in" and he refused to take a card over the phone. Upon entering the room, we were met with the smell of cigarette smoke and general dirtiness. I had to leave the door and window open to air out while my husband ran to the store to buy air fresheners. If that was not enough, we found a cockroach on one of the pillows, and bugs in the beds. All of us slept on top of the covers. The bathroom, which only had a half roll of toilet paper, was disgusting. I have seen truck stop bathrooms with cleaner toilets. On the second day, our bathroom was infested with ants. We did mention this to the front desk (this gentleman was much more friendly than the first) but were told that there was not much they could do. After returning home, I have discovered bites on my children and myself. The parking lot and outdoor areas were also extremely dirty and covered in trash. Saturday morning when we were leaving for the day, there were homeless people sleeping in front of rooms on the lower level. Which probably contributes to the general filth of the area. None of the employees seemed to care that this was happening. I am not typically one to complain and have had wonderful experiences with Choice Hotels in the past. This particular experience was not only a customer service nightmare, it was also not on the up and up for health and safety either. I was hoping to speak to the office at checkout, once the threat of cancellation was no longer an issue. However, there was nobody at the office when we left. The experience was so far beyond what is acceptable that I still cannot believe it. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again and am rethinking using Choice Hotels at all if this is acceptable to your corporation. read more

The only reason I booked at this hotel is because of bookingcom and this is nothing but a seedy Motel with seedier tactics. Even though it was prepaid through bookingcom. the front desk person who is not easy to understand, asked for $50 deposit and when I showed him the bookingcom receipt he said to look at the some illegible display on the front desk. I will not go through bookincom again since this type of seedy motels should never be on the bookingcom website. SInce I had good experience with booking previously, I presumed it was a legit. I should have checked the Yelp ratings first since it is true reflection of this motel. read more

The inside of the rooms were clean but you could hardly call them smoke free rooms. The entire clientele of the hotel smokes on the balcony and the smokes comes inside the rooms via the exterior vents of the ac/heater. I was stuck there for eleven days trying unsuccessfully to breathe due to my severe asthma. The maid service is spotty even when request it it is a toss up whether your gets cleaned. I had to go without a shower my last day because when I realized at 3 am that I had no towels the property manager refused to help me and said I had to come back at 7:30 am when the office opened. I explained that that would not work because I had an early flight out of Reno. he hung up on me and left me standing in the cold for at least ten minutes. At this point I left this disgusting hole and went home. I still have residual bronchitis from that awful experience, ZERO STARS!!!! read more

This hotel was beyond disgusting. I've never stayed a hotel that was so filthy and where the staff were so rude. We booked based on their site pictures which looked nothing like the room we got where the paint was peeling, there was so much filth in the walls, the floors were so badly stained and wreaked of urine. All of the linens with the exertion if the sheets had clearly not been washed and had holes all over them. That evening I dared to ask for towels to which the front desk yelled at us and then told us that it's the maids job and they were gone. In the morning my mother was rushed to hospital and had to travel to Reno to secure a rental car for our family. my son stayed with our dogs at the hotel and despite knowing what happened the front desk deactivated his room key locking our dogs in the room. He had to go to the front office leaving all of our items unattended to have them open the room. when I arrived my poor son was alone with our items outside in the hot sun with two dogs. The lobby smells like someone smokes in there, the room smelled like chemicals/smoke, AND I found bed bugs! I didn't even get all my stuff in the room before I saw this. I was concerned after reading previous yelps but had already booked reservation. We figured we would at least check it out. Well. even though the room could use some updates and the carpet cleaned. I found it surprisingly clean in every other aspect. We arrived early and were allowed to check in before the posted check in time and the woman was even kind enough to give us a downstairs nonsmoking. Later that night we went to turn on the TV it would not turn on. The night clerk came right down with keys to another room if we wanted. He fiddled with the cord on the tv and got it working (ie. room updating). He still offered to help us move to another room if we chose to. very, very helpful and friendly gentleman. So, all in all, the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the outdated rooms, dirty carpet and the parking lot needs some very much needed upkeep. I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel or anything but I was barefoot for a few minutes and the floors left my feet dirty, you can smell smoke (both kinds ) pungently through the doors into the rooms. The coffee pot had a used coffee bag in it and was dirty. Also the front lobby smelled so strong of what seemed to be rubbing alcohol or maybe acetone?? I could barely stay in the room for more than a couple of minutes it was overwhelming. And of course, we get stuck next to what seems to be some long term residents who are completely wasted, chain smoking, talking super loud right outside of our room for hours. Highway Robbery on the Highway... Not Covid or any other kind of Clean! We had to make a fast booking due to fire evacuations so we booked the Rodeway Inn through Hotwire.com. on August 6th for our August 7th arrival. We weren't expecting much but the pictures of rooms looked clean and functional. Here's our list of problems 1. DIRTY 2. Room was foul: dirty carpeting, smelled of smoke, paint peeling. 3. Awoke to ANTS in our drinking glasses and swarming the night stands as well as in our dogs kibble that was placed in the Bathroom on tile floor. 4. Transient homeless living along the property 5. Property full of trash and over flowing trashcans 6. VERY rude Manager, Golden Singh and completely unknowledgeable front desk staff. Manager's day off was Sunday so no formal complaint could be made until Monday. ( I think the guy working the desk was actually maintenance) 7. paid $250.00 on a $75.00 room Manager actually told me to "Try" and get my 10% back from Hotwire but he wasn't going to. I would give this shit hole zero stars if it were an option! But to be fair, check in was easy. The guy at the front desk was nice. However, that doesn't justify the conditions this place is in! 1. The room smelled bad! 2. Towels were clearly used (glad we brought our own) 3. There are white stains on the headboard (I don't want to know what that could be) 4. I would absolutely give this place zero stars if I could. This place is disgusting and the employees were rude. We are here because my boyfriend is umpiring a baseball tournament. We have all been in the sun and working all day long. When we are done all we want to do is sleep. We check into our room around 9:30pm and go into the bathroom to use it and our toilet has crap in it. And I mean a big nasty pile of crap. When we brought it to the attention of the front desk we were met with nothing but absolute rude people. Telling us there was nothing they could do and that they couldn't move us rooms because the rest were full. We asked them to kindly clean the toilet and give us a discount. They told us no and that if we wanted our money back that they would refund the money and unbook our room and that I could go elsewhere with my family. They came and "cleaned" the toilet, leaving behind multiple spots of disgusting who knows what and still crap in the toilet. Later we found mold growing in the fridge, the shower was absolutely disgusting, along with ants crawling all over the floor and nightstand, and not to mention the bug I found on my pillow and someone else's hair in my bed. We did not sleep in or on any of there blankets or anything. None of us got any sleep that night, we kept the lights on in fear of what might come out in the dark. Do not stay here! read more

Go elsewhere. We had a big group come here recently, a few found bed bugs on their beds. One guy was bit so bad, he checked out and went to a different hotel. My bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Dirty toilet, and tub. The faucet in the tub was hanging off the wall. I also found a drop of blood on one of the towels. We were there for 3 days, before we left to go out on Saturday morning, housekeeping was a few doors down from my room. Dog friendly + clean + comfy bed + near everything = awesome We stayed here (room #129) because every dog friendly property in Lake Tahoe was booked and this place had the best reviews on Trip Advisor. Don't judge this like you're staying at a Ritz or even a Marriott. This is a basic hotel level where us dog owners stay when travelling with our poochies. Keeping this in mind - it's a great find. I had no problems walking barefoot like I do at other dog friendly hotels. The rooms were renovated in '05 and the property remains well cared for with nice paint, carpeting and fixtures. Our bed was super comfy and all rooms (I think) are smoke free. There is a small pool where maybe one couple was using it at any time. The hotel offered a basic breakfast from 6am-10am every morning. It was the typical cereal, danish, toast and bagels. Some hard boiled eggs and yogurt in the fridge. We just grabbed coffee then walked a few minutes down the street to Mom & Pop's Diner for an awesome breakfast (huge cinnamon rolls) and sat outside with Josie. Also check out Comma Coffee - despite the name, we had lovely salads and homemade hummus for Saturday night dinner because they were the only ones open with outdoor seating. read more

Decided to "upgrade" to a Rodeway Inn on this trip. I thought they were reputable. What a joke! Absolutely FILTHY room. Dirty light switch, dirty outlet box on bedside for charging. They gave me an obviously smoked-in room despite my selection of Non-smoking on my reservation. The toilet seat was the worst I have ever seen. It was completely gouged and nicked all over with wood showing, and I'm sure it was filled with germs. It should have been replaced years ago! Needed toilet paper protection to even consider sitting on. We arrived very late and very tired so we didn't leave...but we won't be back again, ever. read more

This is by far the worst hotel we have encountered here. Check in was probably the best thing about this place fast and easy. The stay however was far from that. From the putrid smell and loose bathroom tiles in the first room to the dead moths and bed bug infestation in the second. And the manager/ owner not being able to be reached. It's fine if you're a tired traveler and need a place to just sleep, not worrying amenities, pool, quality of breakfast, etc. I agree with most reviewers that the place could use general sprucing up. I probably won't stay again at this place for these reasons 1. The rooms have no natural ventilation so the fan has to be on all night to get air and it was very noisy, interfering with sleep. 2. Wi-Fi, while free, was woefully slow at 0.9 Mbps. I couldn't watch any streaming media and everything was sloow loading. The cell network in the area, however, was an astounding 80mbps. 3. To save money, they probably buy bulk shampoo and fill the little bottles in the bathroom. The shampoo was only enough to barely give me one lather. If I had had a companion, I'd have had to ask for more shampoo. 4. At $80 for a single, I felt I overpaid but I didn't have the energy to scout for something better. read more

I stayed for 4 nights and it wasn't a good experience. You have to ask for a microwave but there's no way of knowing that, no sign or anything saying so. The toilet was unstable, the bed was hard, most of the outlets didn't work. The alarm clock didn't work. Not much choices for their complimentary breakfast.
