On a whim we went to Tahoe for a couple days and found this little motel to stay the night in Carson City. The service was great, the price was super affordable compared to others in the area and the room was clean. This motel is CHEAPER and CLEANER than the Motel 6 and Best Value just up the road. It is a mom and pop style place that was recently renovated. It has no fridge or free breakfast, but it has wifi and coffee and an ice machine. The rooms are big and it is very clean - no smoking and no pets allowed. read more

If I could I would've gave this place zero stars. Where can I start, I booked this place as a month to month agreement to get a room I payed the first month which it was $1200 and $600 deposit that he promised I'll get back when I have him the keys which it was completely BS he didn't give me anything, Benjamin claimed that the owner wasn't going to give me nothing. I came from California to Carson City for working purposes. I needed a place to stay, I was told that Benjamin will be the main contact for this place because the owner is just a mysterious person. I've never met the man the whole 4 months I was living there so whenever you ran into an electrical issue which it was a normal thing to be left out without power you had to call Benjamin that there was times he answered your call or you had to keep blowing up his cell phone until he answered which it sucked because the place will get so cold in 10 minutes or so because of the cold weather. This new years it was the last straw, I had it with the power going out, especially New Year's Eve this is the day to spend this last year with our love ones and again the light went out. So I decided to move out I found a better place I left his room immaculate and when I was going to hand him the key he said I'm going to take $100 dollars from the 600 so I owe you 500 and you can stop by Friday and I'll give you the money. My dumbass believed Benjamin. So I called him that Monday and he said again that the mysterious owner said that he's not going to give me jack. I insisted about my money and he began to say that I'm pissing him off that I don't want to see the bad side of him. I'm not going to lie the old me would've rock the hell out of him but I'm a safety professional that can lose everything that I worked for, so I decided to let it be. Let Karma take care of mysterious owner and Benjamin, stay away from this place these ain't Honest people! read more

We stayed here several nights. Very clean, owners are friendly, much better than other area motels, and it is a great value. NO stinky DOGS or dog smell in the rooms, no stinky service pets, (whatever that is now days, iguanas, pigs, butterflys, donkeys, etc.....) and no stinky dog owners to contend with while staying at the hotel. Just a great nights sleep at a value price. What is not to love? read more

If you want a simple, easy, clean, affordable, old fashion Motel stay the Mill House Motel is it! I am a 20 year long South Lake Tahoe local and I will not stay anywhere else again! Owners discriminate against those with disabilities. After a really long and trying day I pulled in to rent a room. the proprietor refused me because I have a service dog. I nicely tried to explain the ADA laws, that he is a legitimate Service Dog with which I have public access rights, and I require him to be independent. I was told my rights as a disabled person are not as important as someone who "might" have an allergy, and to just "go somewhere they allow pets". I will be filing a complaint with DOJ. read more

Boyfriend and I were visiting Spooner Lake this weekend and decided to spend the night. Since it was a last minute decision and being a July 4th holiday weekend, finding reasonable price for a motel was near impossible. I've check multiple online sources and either most places are full or their price is outrageous. We decided to just wing it and drive to Carson City and see what we can find. I picked up a local phone book and started calling to check prices. Naturally I checked the big name ones first but after a couple telling me they're full I thought it's hopeless so I went for this place. Lady on the phone was nice and quoted me a price that I couldn't refuse. We immediately drove there to secure our room. The building is older but it looks well kept. The room is spacious, has walk-in shower which I thought it's very good especially for disabled or seniors. The AC works great!!!! There's a table with two chairs in the room. The bed is very comfortable. Pillows and sheets feel as nice as major hotel chains. My only complaint is that my bathroom has a leaky toilet. It was running every few minutes and it was kinda annoying to listen to when you're trying to sleep and the first thing to hear when you wake up. Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied. read more

One of the best values I've ever seen with a hotel. It's super clean and quiet and very reasonably priced. The owners always make me feel very welcome and that really counts after a long day on the road. Bare bones! Door could use a more secure lock. Bar soap only in shower and sink. No clock, no radio no coffee maker, but I didn't need those things. Large clean 60's era, dimly lit room. Reasonably priced. Grounds are well kept. Nice office person. No smoking no pets!!! read more

I stayed here on a winter night after working a double shift and didn't want to risk driving back to Reno. The whole motel was empty. Told the gentleman I only need the hotel for approx. 6-7 hours. Was charged $60 which I'd gladly pay at any casino or national hotel chain. I was surprise this place charged as much for considering how dead it was. I would probably charge something less and fill the place up. Anyways, the room was clean. Outdated but everything worked nonetheless. Heater was a bit loud but I was so tired, it didn't matter. I didn't have any neighbors so I can't complain. No noise, lol. I knocked out and checked out shortly. I guess the good thing about this motel being slow, service is quick! I don't have to wait behind no one. Although if I had to pay $60 again, I'd probably pick a place that offered new amenities and toiletries. read more

I'm surprised to be the first to review this place! Family owned and very clean. The price was great for two queens on a Fri and Sat night. Has a nice pool too. I talked to the owner in the office and was shocked that they don't have a website or a Facebook. I guess I'm used to California. The room was spacious. Mill House is a great value for a nice clean motel if you are traveling thru Carson City. Very family friendly and hospitable hosts. Try for a room off the street if possible. I will be back there next time I pass thru Carson City. read more

Just stayed here a few nights ago. I love this place. So homey and quiet. I didn't have to worry about loud neighbors and the price is unbeatable, I mean 65+ tax, amazing. I'm cracking up reading these other reviews, people can be so dramatic and sensitive. I love the hosts, such down to earth people. Definitely the cleanest place I have ever stayed in, and I needed an iron and blow dryer and they gladly gave me one to borrow. Woke up nice and early and went to get some coffee in the front, the nice gentlemen greeted me and we talked about things to do in Carson, such a nice guy. Would definitely stay here again, and would love to bring my family. read more

2 stars because it is very clean and well serviced. It's extremely over priced for what you get. I try to stay at local places and recently had to stay in Carson City so I picked Mill House which is right next to Super 8 and Motel 6. The older couple who own it are not friendly. I stayed 4 week nights in a row. I asked if they do discount for that many nights and got a NO. Do you take AAA? NO! So a weeknight in this place is about $80 with tax - crappy coffee in lobby and no breakfast at all. I had to add one night and again, 3/4 empty on Friday. I walked up to the husband an hour before checkout and said I'd like to add one more night. He looks at me and says, it's $95 plus tax on weekends, then he turns away. Very rude. So I start packing. The wife calls me at 10:50 to remind me it's an 11am check out. It was just me in the room, I kept it clean, very quiet, etc. On top of the terribly rude owners the beds are awful - I'd prefer an air mattress! I stayed at Motel 6 that night and it was way better. This place is for sale so hopefully new owners will invigorate it and these two can hop in their RV and park it on a golf course in Arizona somewhere! read more

It's clean, quiet and affordable. It works. If you're looking for extras like free morning breakfast, microwave, refrigerator, in-room coffee, ironing board, toiletries, etc. you'll be disappointed. But these are things I'll anytime overlook for the best room rate. No dreaded RESORT FEES. FYI, Inn is located on the edge of town and not within realistic walking distance to downtown casinos. I gasped slightly upon entering my room at the 1970's shag carpet. Shag-a-Delic Bayyyby! Austin Powers would be proud, lol. Again, had to remind myself of the favorable room rate. Stepped out of my room a couple times at night to see packs of wild jackrabbits scampering about the property. Don't run in front of my car Mr. Bunny! Inn has a heated on-site pool which I didn't partake in. Favorite thing of the stay was the roomy & retro step-in shower. Adding a simple soda pop machine on-site would do wonders! Presently, if you wanna Coke or beverage, you gotta drive to a nearby store to get it. The owner-manager guy's pretty cool. And from the nice aroma inside the lobby, it smells like he or his wife knows how to cook a little too, lol. Would stay again, but subsequently found slightly better overall value at the nearby & recently renovated Motel 6 about a block away. There they have 24 hr. vending machines, in-room microwave & fridge + the rates were better, giving that property a distinctive edge over this one. read more

We stayed four nights so it had to be good! Roomy, comfortable beds, very clean and a lovely shower. Not having a refrigerator was a bit of a bother as was no coffee maker but these are minor issues. You can't beat the price and the ac worked. I definitely would stay again. read more

Large room with beautiful clean bathroom. Very clean basic motel. I have never stayed at a cleaner motel. Would stay here again. Just remember to bring own shampoo,etc. No hair drier or other extras. Only problem was the shower was tricky. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights, and it was very nice. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and a pool. Great location to go see Virginia City and Tahoe, which were both only about 30 minutes away. read more
