I am devastated to even be writing this review. We've been getting our goldendoodle groomed every 6-8 weeks for 2 years now and although sometimes he's had spots of mats, our prior groomer always did a fantastic job. We just moved to the area, looking for a new groomer, and My Puppy Parlor came highly recommended from a friend. Trusting them and not all of the negative reviews, we decided to give it a try. At drop off, we were very clear that we did not want him shaved. At no point were we ever consulted about the possibility of our dog's hair getting shaved. We didn't even recognize our dog after picking him up. They shaved him to the bone, including his tail. Our other dog doesn't recognize him and has become aggressive with him. And while not physically injured, his behavior has been extremely out of character. We've never seen him act like this before, to the point we're considering taking him to the vet to be looked at. This whole experience has been traumatic to say the least. Rest assured the friend who referred us and everyone else we know who priorly used this business will NEVER be returning. If you care for the health and safety for your dog, go somewhere else!!!!!!!!! *Edit* To include photos. The owner insists that there was "extreme matting" that presented a "health concern" which as you can see from our before photos is not true. And if it was, would be odd that the vet he saw a week prior for his annual visit didn't mention this "health concern" but this amateur groomer knew better. Regardless, the lady who groomed him discussed with us before and asked "do you want him shaved for a summer cut?" And we adamantly said no shaving, just trimming. To which she nodded and said "yes, yes, okay." We should have at least been consulted for consent before this drastic action was taken. To which we would have immediately picked him up and taken him somewhere else. It's been a day and our dog still isn't acting like himself. I don't like writing negative reviews but hopefully the owner can maybe take it as honest feedback and improve the business. My husband dropped off the golden doodle with pretty simple instructions, shave the dog evenly less than half an inch nose to tail. No special haircuts here, just a basic summer shave. The doodle gets back to us with the most uneven cut I've ever laid eyes on and almost same amount of hair for a whopping bill of $170.00 The phone is a dud and is never answered, spare yourself the agitation. I come back a couple of days later and explain to the owner what we asked for, he nicely gives us another appointment and tells us this will be a good coaching experience for his groomer, no problem, things happen. I take the dog back today and while it's still pretty uneven (I'm not picky, hair grows back and at least it's the length I asked for) what do I discover when I get the dog in the car, they didn't wash her off after the shave. That's the straw that broke the camels back, for 170 bux I had to bring the dog twice to get a shave and then needed to bathe her at home to get all the shaved hair off, my pants and shirt were covered in hair. No curtesy wash? Dsnt need to be a blowout but for Petes sake do I have to wash the dog after all of this. Yes, they're very nice and I appreciate that they're nice but I'd rather have a less friendly experience done right the first time and not for 60-70 dollars over what other competitors are charging. The extra star is for friendly service which is slowly but surely leaving the states. They have a sign over there that asks not to price haggle because good isn't cheap and cheap isn't good, may need to take that down temporarily. read more

People were friendly but that's it. Terrible haircut, hair was cut uneven. He was still wet when picked up (they called me to tell me he was ready) which caused hair matting. Nail trim was supposed to be included but not done. He was given something to settle him because I had to practically carry him from the car when I got home. This place is fantastic! Staff is extremely friendly, and they do a great job grooming our little Pom mix. He just had a bath and haircut today and the level of cuteness is off the charts. His paws and nails are always perfectly trimmed, and he always smells amazing and seems really happy every time we pick him up! The price is right, they have online booking too which is very convenient. Pro tip: book in advance! These folks are very busy (for good reason) so you'll need to think ahead. Highly recommended! Second time I've been here, and they did an awful job. The first time was ok, we had just moved here and saw them here on Yelp and thought, "might as well". Well, like I said, the first time wasn't horrible so I thought we'd try it again. My dog is a standard poodle and I get him a very simple one length cut all over. He is three different lengths, legs are longer than his body, and his head is so short he looks like he's wearing a coat. The groomer, Colette, shaved down his ears because she said they were "fluffy", I said I liked them fluffy, but I guess that didn't matter. And then to top it all off, even though they shaved him down, they still up charged me an extra brushing and de-matting... Last but not least, we will not return and I hope they can train their staff to communicate with their customers better in the future. read more

Brought my highly shedding Jack Russell for a bath and deshedding treatment. I was skeptical because Jack sheds tremendously and I sort of gave up on the brushing. Well, these guys got ALL the loose hair off him. Now when I pet him nary a hair comes off. He looks great and seems like he feels better too. Drop off and pick up were easy. They even email you an invoice to pay online when they've finished. My floors, sheets, car seats, clothes and roomba are thankful for the service. We will be back! read more

Let me just start off by saying I don't see HOW IN THE WORLD this place has good ratings, they're slow & unprofessional!! The first time I took my first dog to be groomed it was an okay experience, but they did cut way too much fur off and made her look like a boy dog after I specifically showed them a picture and told them not to cut too much off , they did the complete opposite , I said I liked it to save face but I was only giving them a chance cause I already had my other dog scheduled for a grooming! Fast forward to today 7/31 I'm currently waiting outside in my hot car with no air (not their fault I don't have air atm but they could've let me stand inside in the air, but instead the smart mouthed lady at the door told me to go "stand beside my car then") like WOWWWW! so much compassion for someone who loves dogs so much they had me thinking my 5 pound dog would be ready for pick up at 12 ! It's now 12:30 I dropped her off at 8am exactly! and I've yet to retrieve my dog from them , the lady at the door when trying to retrieve my dog also told me oh it's been 4 hours not 5! Like why are you trying to be a smart ass ? For what ? What's the reason ?? But any way I won't be coming here anymore , good luck with business I guess.... read more

Never again. Seems like a lot of the reviews talk about Devin being a great groomer, and perhaps this is who we had for the first two visits to My Puppy Parlour, as they were great. We have then had consistently below average grooms since. Each time we drop our dog off at her appointment they seem super disorganized and to be not expecting us. They then seem to have no idea what we are doing with her even though you specify what your dog is booked in for in the booking. They have also told us they don't keep records on the dogs when we have said things like we would like what she had last time, so you're explaining it in detail every time, then whatever you have explained seems to be either forgotten or not understood as it's not what happens in the groom. I don't know if it's miscommunication, them being over booked, inexperienced groomers, not enough record keeping or what, but whatever it is, it's not working. What this results in is us being stressed because it feels like they don't know what's happening and we have no idea what she's going to look like when we pick her up. Twice now we have asked for a short cut all over and nail grind and she's got a small trim up around her face, feet and butt and her nails cut but no grind. So we've paid $80 for what looks almost exactly the same as we dropped her off looking with incredibly sharp nails. It's such a drag because we moved her to MPP from Petsmart as we wanted to support small business but whatever systems they have in place for keeping track of the grooms and for communicating with customers about what their dog needs, aren't currently working. read more

Took our Schnauzer in for the third time yesterday. The first two times he got a good Schnauzer cut and looked fine. Yesterday was a disaster. Evidently the groomer was not familiar with this type of cut because it was not done correctly and they left a strip down his back that was longer and darker than the rest of him. What was that? I have had Schnauzers for 30 years and have honestly never had a cut like this. For the price I paid I expect the groomer to know the basic cuts. Schnauzer owners beware! I took the first groomer I could get. I should have asked for the groomer that was an expert on that breed. read more

The pictures posted by them looked good, but I was sold when I found that I could book an appointment online. They have a nice menu of services for any of your needs. Very reasonable prices. When we arrived, the salon was clean, bright and cheerful. They greeted my dog and me like we were old friends. They loved on her and she them. But as they say, the proof is in the pudding and it wasn't until she was finished and ready did I know for certain I had found the groomer that I have been looking for. She looked fantastic, just like the groomer we had loved so much back in NH. They really care about your dog and want them to look their very best, so they take their time and do it right. read more

I split my time between nashville and southern TN/northern AL and have had the hardest time finding a good groomer for when we are in Nashville. I booked this place based on all the positive reviews but was unfortunately, extremely disappointed with the results. I was very clear with them when I dropped off my Sheepadoodle. He was a little overdue for a cut and even with daily brushing and de-matting, he had some mats on his stomach and right below his ears. I told them to do whatever they needed to do on his body, but I wanted to keep his head and little nub tail "floofy." Never did the girl who took him back say that would be an issue. I even said, if you need to cut the mats out on the side of his face, I will be fine with it being a bit uneven, i just don't want his head cut short. Ok, great, no problem. The result?? They gave him a flat top LOL! I'm so confused bc the top of his head was not even matted! They completely shaved his nub, too, which also, didn't have any mats. I had just brushed him out the night before so I knew exactly where the matted spots where and prepared myself that those spots would likely have to be shaved shorter than I wanted. So strange. Our groomer in northern AL usually has him for 5-6 hours and works so hard to make sure we are happy with the result. They had him for just over 3 hours. I understand that sometimes mats are bad and shaving them down is the only option. But like I said, the spots they shaved that I'm unhappy with were not even matted. It just seems like they didn't take the time to take what I asked for into consideration and just wanted to get him in and out as quickly as possible. They easily could've called and explained before they cut him so short so I could've either okayed it or picked him up. I am happy to pay a more than fair price for a groomer who listens to their customers and puts in the time, as I know this is not an easy job. Just bummed since I had such high hopes with all the other great reviews. I would steer clear of this place if you have an animal that needs a little extra attention in trouble areas or have any special requests at all. I'd also like to note that when they brought him out to me, I expressed that this was not what I asked for and that I was unhappy. I asked him to have the girl who took him from me at drop off to call. I got a text from another guy about 10 minutes later explaining the mats were too bad(they weren't) and nothing was resolved whatsoever. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is they did do a nice job on the cut they gave him, but it CLEARLY wasn't what we discussed at all. read more

I took my Standard Poodle puppy to Devin for her first haircut. I was worried that she was going to give him a hard time because she is still getting used to even being walked on the leash and runs from me when she sees her harness coming. She knows that means a car ride is coming! He did such an amazing job with her. She came out looking like a totally different dog! Great services but more than that, I feel like this team loves my babies like I do. They're gentle and firm, which gives the dogs confidence about who's in charge without feeling yelled at or forced. Most importantly, the staff knows when to stop. My two don't always tolerate nail clipping very well (depends on the day). When I picked them up last time, the staff was unapologetic about completing one of my pup's nails successfully but only being able to get two paws on my other (a rescue who's still skittish with these things). That showed me that they tried to work with her but my girl must've been pretty upset if they had to stop. I'm grateful they used their judgement with her instead of forcing it. Last thing she needs is any level of trauma from a stranger and I LOVE that they "listened" to her, regardless of what I had asked. Her wellness and state of mind are most important and I now know they will advocate on the dog's behalf. I feel very comfortable knowing I can leave her with them and theyll do their best but still put her needs first. read more

I've experienced nothing but amazing service, friendly staff, and quality cuts/grooming EVERY TIME I've been to my puppy parlor. Devin nails my pups haircut every time, and staff is always incredibly helpful and friendly (Eve is so kind!). They always go above and beyond making my girl feel comfortable offering treats and lots of love when she gets there. Communication is also awesome, I love that when I get there staff asks good questions about what hair cut we want, and takes notes ! They're helpful and listen well to detailed notes given for her desired cut. I have a mini doodle and have had trouble finding someone to NOT cut her like a poodle (long ears, long tail, shaved nose bridge, bouffant ...) ... they nail the puppy cut and she always looks awesome. Also love the text reminders... when she is ready for pickup I receive a text/call and am sent my invoice via email and can pay before pickup making the pickup smooth and time efficient!! We have taken our golden doodle here 4 times, and will not be returning after our most recent experience. The grooms themselves have been average (usually uneven and still damp) -- but it's close to us so we continued to go back. But today we dropped her off for an appointment with Devin (the owner) at 10am. Usually her grooms take 4 hours. After 4 hours I called to check the status. No answer so left a message (it's an automated system that never connects you to a real person). After 5 hours I call again and leave another message. After 6 hours, my wife finally just showed up in person. She was crated in back and they had not even STARTED her groom yet, and Devin wasn't even on-site. 6 HOURS after I dropped her off. One of the groomers there said it would be another 2-3 hours. She blamed it on Devin fearing he had COVID which is why he had not showed up yet. Even if that's true they should have called me to come pick her up until he was ready or reschedule rather than leave her caged up for 6 hours with zero communication. Absolutely unacceptable business practice and treatment of our dog. In hindsight, our dog has a panic attack every time we get near the store, which suggests they probably don't treat the dogs very well during the appointment either. Not worth the price or quality of groom. read more

I went in today to get my girl's nails trimmed. Nail trimming doesn't require an appt. walk ins are accepted until 6:30 pm. They were so sweet with her even though she was whining the whole time. Her nails were trimmed nice & close. Much better than they do at my vets office. She came out of there smelling like coconuts & is absolutely silent on the hardwood floors. No more tipper tappers! Bonus, it's five minutes from my house. I'll definitely go there next time her nails need to be trimmed. I would take her for grooming, but she's so short haired she's practically naked. I recently used my puppy parlor for the first time. I am usually pretty hesitant to try a new groomer because we have had a few interesting summer cuts. I have an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix with a nice full coat. I am so impressed with my puppy parlor!! They did a great job! Everything is smooth, even and blended well!
