We have had nothing but great experiences at My Second Home. Our Golden Doodle puppy was very timid when he first started going to Day Care at My Second Home. The staff has really worked with him and now he LOVES it. He is still a little shy around some dogs but he doesn't cower in the park corner any more. The staff is so friendly when I call to check on his kennel stays too. Our puppy has also gotten a few baths and one hair cut there. We're were pleased with those salon services as well. We consider My Second Home a true partner in our puppy's life and we wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

Just picked up my dog after his week stay and he peed all over on his way out, which he never does. He obviously did not get enough potty breaks. Now I have noticed he has an infection in one of his eyes. Not told about this. Very upsetting for the amount of money we spent. read more

This place sucks...fair and square. Took my pup for daycare around 8am and received a call around 12 pm. He had been attacked by another dog. Puncture wounds in his face, neck and belly. When asked what happened the staff replied (which was the manager/owner) your dog needs to work better with other animals...I asked about stitches, as he was bleeding, and they said "not to worry about it". I also asked about the other animal that so viciously attacked mine and they shrugged their shoulders as if to say they have better things to do. That animal is still their and may god have mercy on your pets life if it does to yours what it did to mine. We were minutes away from losing our precious son. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. read more

Everytime I took my dog here for daycare his paws came back cracked and bloodied. He also had a bunch of scratches on his tummy. My dog does play rough so the scratches are pretty normal for him. He is use to playing with other dogs and running around as we take him to dog parks regularly. The cracks and chunks taken out of his paws are not. I think maybe turf is not the best thing to be playing on for 7 hours. Btw my dog weighs 80lb and I had to carry him up the stairs for 2 days after. Also, someone told me once that a worker kicked a dog and didn't get fired. Ummm.. if someone kicked my dog I would be furious, but I'm sure the owner wasn't told. read more

I brought my Siberian husky in to be groomed and learned the hard way the groomers here are clueless. Any knowledgable groomer knows to never shave any part of a husky, but obviously here the groomers are not knowledgable. They not only shaved my dogs inner hind legs, but also almost inside his butt! Shaving a husky is one of the worst things you can do!!! I'm extremely upset by the actions of my second home and would not recommend anyone have their dog groomed here! My dog is now extremely uncomfortable, has intense irritation and will suffer for the next 6 plus months while his fur grows back. I cannot fathom how anyone would think its okay to shave any part of a husky!! Especially in the winter!!! I feel almost as though my dog was abused there! read more

ANIMAL LOVERS BEWARE!!!! If you love your pet - Do Not take them here! Dropped my dog off at 8:00 am , called several times through the day to check on her to see when we could pick her up and at almost 5:00 p.m they said that we could pick her up. We are all aware that It doesn't take nearly 9 hours to groom a dog! My dog is so sweet and submissive, and usually only takes 3 hours at the groomers from beginning to end. We quickly realized why they kept her and did not call us! She could barely walk as she was limping, and every time you touched her on her side she would cry and yelp! I only wish I had read these reviews prior to taking her. I was contacted last week to see if I wanted to schedule another appointment and at that time I let them know all of the details of everything that happened with my dog. I also informed them that I had informed Double Take Deals of the mistreatment of my dog. I was assured that I would receive a call back from the Owner/Manager - Never happened!! This place should be shut down -- review after review pet lovers have had the exact same terrible experience - their pets are injured when they pick them up. I don't usually take the time for these type of reviews, but this one is a crime that should not continue to be committed. read more

My 2 dogs stayed here for 6 nights and everything seemed fine. The day after I picked them up, coughing began...and wouldn't stop. My 1-year-old dog was throwing up all over my house. I took her to the vet, and she indeed had kennel cough and a GI virus. My other dog was coughing by this point too, so I got meds for both of them. My other dog is 7 and had never been sick a day in her life. The vet said they had 2 other dogs in there the same morning that also stayed at this "resort." I had to bring her back for a re-check, and the vet said there was another dog that had come in with kennel cough from there as well. I called to report the illnesses, and I was told I'd get a call back from the manager. Over a week later and nothing. The vet bills cost me $220, and that's after the hefty $645 I spent for my dogs to stay at their resort!! I figured you get what you pay for, but not so with this place. I love, love , LOVE My Second Home. We used them when we had our St. Bernard and he was always so happy to see them(which always makes you feel better). He even "helped them work the front desk" when we came to pick him up. We since moved away and no have two dogs. I drive 30 min out of my way every Thursday just so the can go to daycare. The pups go nuts with excitement to see them and the staff is always so happy to see them. They even notice when they miss a week and trek them they missed them!! You can tell they really love what they do and love all the dogs. We also make the drive to board them. It's comforting knowing they are in goods hands and they get to sleep together in their own "Villa" which is nicer than some places WE have stayed . Bottom line only place I will ever take any of my dogs no matter how far away! read more

Nice place with a lot of fancy options. Too expensive. It's very corporate. I use another dog kennel service that's much more affordable and has much more of a personal, mom-and-pop kind of feel. It's what I prefer. I don't have any complaints about how my dog was treated- just didn't seem very personal. read more

I have used this business a few times upon the recommendation from friends who had a good experience. The first time our dog stayed there, I thought "this is great!" The second time he stayed there I was less enthusiastic as they brought the wrong dog when I went to pick him up. Mind you, this is a place where you pay around $75 a night to board your pet. I chose the "silver package" which entitled my dog to some outside play time in addition to a safe place to sleep and eat while I was out of town. I called today to check on him because I was not able to pick him up as early as planned. I was worried he would not have enough food. I was told he wasn't eating well and he that one of the caregivers had to sit with him to make sure he ate some of his food. When I picked him up, they brought out a dog three times his size, saying "Here's Leo!" We said "that's not our dog!". "Sorry", the desk clerk said. They confirmed the "room" he was staying in and then brought out two terriers! "Wrong", we said. We have one dog, not two, and he is a cavapoo." Finally they brought out our dog. There was a feeble "I,'m sorry" from the desk clerk. "See you later." I said "is it ok with you that I just tried to pick up a dog that has been here for three days, that should have had three play times with staff (paid for by me at a premium)?" Why should I believe he was treated to play time when you cannot even identify him at pickup? How is this ok? I will NEVER take my sweet family member to this institution again. Strongly advise against using this service. Something is wrong here. read more

Don't trust all of the reviews of this place, many of the good ones are likely written by management. I checked this place out for my dog, did not like that they were "too busy" to give a tour. After talking to some coworkers about this place, I decided to stay away. It is clear from the photos on the site that small dogs and large dogs are not separated despite being told that they are. NOT A CAT GROOMER!! I called My Second Home to set up a grooming appointment for my cat. Based on numerous reviews and awards from the Nashville area they seemed qualified. The fact that they have a groomer working toward her Feline Master Groomer certificate is what sealed the deal. I travel with my cat and take him all over with me. He's pretty well adjusted for a cat, but he is a cat. When I called to make his grooming appointment I told the receptionist my cat had never had a bath before and would probably be very hard to handle. He assured me that their cat groomers were very competent with cats and that there shouldn't be any problem. When I dropped my guy off I asked to talk to the groomer/bather just to make certain that they were prepared for the job. I arrived at 7 am to guarantee that if they needed all day to complete the bath they had it. When I asked about what cat restraints they use they said they couldn't use the leash they use on the dogs because the cats could hang themselves. Obviously you can't use dog restraints on a cat. I left my cat and headed home. I was pulling into my driveway, about 5 minutes away, when I was called from My Second Home to tell me to come pick up my cat because he was too aggressive to bath. Fine. I understand, no problem. When I get there I asked for more information on what had happened. Their "cat groomer" had taken my cat immediately to the back and tried to get him out of his carrier. By her own admission it was very nosy because of barking dogs. My cat freaked out and it was determined that he was too aggressive to even attempt to groom. I feel like my cat was set up for failure by the groomer. Additionally, why wasn't he allowed a "chilling out" period before they tried to mess with him and after they saw how upset he was. Then when I asked why they basically gave up after their first interaction with my cat all anyone talked about was liability, lost workers, and worker's comp. What about my cat? Was that the only concern to him being that upset-the groomers? What about his safety and well-being? Their facility is beautiful. Too bad I'll never see more than the main lobby. read more

I scheduled grooming for my puppies over Memorial Day weekend. I was a bit concerned with scheduling over the holiday due to overcrowding of the facility, however, was assured on Friday that this not be an issue. I was told to bring the puppies to My Second Home in Franklin as close to 11:00 as possible. I arrived at 11:45 only to be told that they had given away my reservation since I didn't show up on time. They said they told me today that I needed to be there by 11:00. I did not have this conversation with any one today and I disappointed with the treatment of staff upon arrival. I would not recommend this facility...unfair treatment of customers is not appropriate business. read more

Do not use this kennel if possible. I would give less than 1 star if I could. I have waited a bit to write this review so I wouldn't write it in anger. We purchased the upgraded package for our Yorkie when we boarded her- the one where she had a large private room and got treats and brushing each day. We ended up coming home 2 days early from vacation and called 20 minutes after we got back in town to pick our pup up early. We were mortified when we got her- she was covered in urine and feces. When we asked why- no one would give us an answer. We had to pay full price for the "grooming" that she got while there. Our dog is like a family member, and it broke my heart knowing she was left in such a filthy state for who knows how long. And if she had actually gotten the larger room that we paid for, why was she covered in urine and feces? She's pad trained, and never sits down on her pad after she's soiled it. If she had been in a large enough kennel, she would've had room to move off a soiled pad. I'm not really sure what happened, and I'll never know, but I do know I'll never use this company again. *** Update: And I am NOT mistaken. This is definitely the kennel we used and my Yorkie stayed there for 3 nights before we picked her up. I've had her for 4 years now and only boarded her this once in her entire life. I won't waste time in calling back because I don't intend to ever use their services again. Disgusted with this facility. We have used them for a number of years now with no major issues. We booked our pets boarding (two dogs) over two months ago - have confirmation #'s, have spoken with My Second Home regarding vaccination records, etc. to confirm we were all set. Today we arrive with my three children packed up in the car to drop off the dogs for our annual family Thanksgiving trip to visit family and find out that they have cancelled our reservation. I am in total disbelief. I can't comprehend how this could happen - I can not recommend this place to anyone. These types of mistakes can not and should not happen for a facility as nice as this when we pay and average of $600-700 Per stay for our pets. Inexcusable. read more

I love taking my dogs to doggy daycare here. They also love to go and stay a few days. When they see their overnight bags come out, they get really excited, so I can't take them out until it's time leave. All I have to say is " Let's go to My second Home", they race to the door and wait ( not so patiently ) for me to take them to the car. I love this place and highly recommend it. read more

Tried to take a tour of this place, but it was so bad I had to walk out. I was uneasy the moment I walked in. The woman that walked in before me was trying to pick up her pets from a stay and I overheard that it was going to cost her double what they had quoted her. The staff had obviously not called her to tell her, because she got very upset, as would I. As that scene was going on, I'm called back to take a tour. As we walk into a room, a loose dog comes running up to us. I'm sent out of the room so they can secure the loose dog. Several minutes later, another staff member brings a different leashed dog out of the room and the other dog gets loose into the waiting room. The staff member does nothing so I grab the dog to keep him from getting out the main door into the parking lot. Finally, the girl giving the tour comes out of the room, secures the dog, then wants me to continue the tour. She says this has never happened before. Even if that was true (which I doubt), it's totally unacceptable. I would be absolutely horrified had my that been my dog that got loose due to oblivious staff. Needless to say, I walked out and will never be back. read more

I boarded my kitten here last week while on vacation and couldn't have been happier with the service we received. When I dropped him off I was able to go back and say goodbye and put him in his kennel, which made me feel better about leaving him. At another facility we used in the past, I was not allowed to go back and see the kennel or say goodbye really, so I loved how it was here. When I called to check in on him I got a full overview, including how he was eating and drinking, so no worrying about him over my vacation. When I picked him up it was raining quite a bit and I was escorted in and out under an umbrella, which was awesome. Andrew got us all checked out super fast and when I went back to get Duke, he could have cared less that I was there. He went right over to Andrew and was all over him. I knew then he had been very happy there and received a ton of love and attention. If I go out of town again I will definitely be bringing him back! read more

My husband and I decided to check this place out for our dogs. From the time we walked in the door, everything felt wrong. The front area was not clean and tidy. We did not get the greeting we expected from the very "unhappy to be there" staff behind the counter. When you walk in, you see a large waterfall behind glass. We did not understand the purpose as the dogs behind the glass were not allowed to walk around it the water and enjoy it- waste of space. As we started our tour with one of the employees, we were told we could go/view several areas of the kennel as it would disturb the animals. Last time I checked, dogs love human interaction. The walls and floors do not look maintained nor clean. As our guide took us down a hallway, we passed a room with a glass door and looked inside. The floors were nasty, the barred cages looked aged. There was a discarded toilet left sitting there. As we were escorted to a back door to view outside, two male employees walked in reeking of cigarette smoke. As we walked out the back/side door, there was "a lot" of dried poop on stairs. I commented about it and my guide said, "Oh that just happened and no one has got it up yet". First of all, why is it all up and down a set of stairs. Second, why was it not taken up when it happened. Lastly, we walk around to the very back where we could stand at a large fence and see dogs outside. It was a very very hot day. There were several small plastic pools not being utilized propped up on the fence and only one with water in it. There were at least 10 dogs outside. We will never ever allow our pets to stay at this very unsanitary, suspicious sad place. (The Farms At Natchez Trace is an amazing place. They are clean, large and love showing you everything about what they have to offer) .....Beware of My Second Home! read more

have been taking my yorkie to get groomed at My Second Home for 4 years and her regular groomer is no longer there. I asked the new groomer to cut her hair short all over for the summer and when I picked her up she was SHAVED!!!! She doesn't look like the same dog. She is acting depressed and my vet told me to put sunscreen on her now when walking because she has no hair to protect her skin. The shortest I have ever had her cut is 1/2 inch, and appearantly the groomer didn't even look at her history. If I wanted her shaved I would have said the word "shave." When I picked her up I was so upset I didn't say anything. I waited untiil I calmed down and called to express my concern. The manager was suppose to call me back and didn't. I told a friend of mine who takes her dog to get groomed there and the same thing happened to her last month. I am so disappointed that this happened and the way it has been handled. read more

The first time we took our dog there it was an ok experience. There seemed to be some miscommunication with the employees and pricing I was given for boarding and grooming. The manager did make it right and gave us a credit We decided to use this credit for our recent trip it was boarding and grooming before we picked him up. Sammy is our collie and we requested the deshed process When he was picked up you could just run your hands over him and tons of hair was coming out ( please note this is common for us to have done at our regular vet and never have this issue) since we have had issues before it amazed us at the comment from the manager when complained. The response we received was what do you want done...we want it done correctly. The response was we only spend a certain amount of time on the grooming. I thought you were to make sure it is to be done correctly Trust me to groom a large dog is not cheap and amazed at their comments they have lost a potential future customer.
