This is definitely more so a consignment store than a "thrift shop". Prices are nearly retail from Ross or similar. There are some very good finds that you could see in here but at the same time you'll still pay a higher price for them. It's busy on Saturday but they have plenty of employees on deck to help. From a customer perspective: the prices are relatively decent if you're used to spending a lot of money on clothes to begin with. For example, I don't shop at alter'd state or free people or any other relatively expensive higher end retail. If you usually shop at those types of places, then you will think this is a good deal. I'm used to shopping at thrift shops and for me, it just wasn't super great pricing. Considering that they give a portion to the original owner it makes sense. From a consignment side: this was my first main experience coming to this location, and the main woman (probably owner) is very terse in attitude so I'm glad I already knew that from a friend before walking in. They're pretty strict on what kind of clothes and items they'll take. You have two options of either waiting to see what they'll take from your items or you can donate the rest that won't be sold so you don't have to take the remaining stuff back home. Personally, I haven't made that much money from the items that I've brought but also they may just not have used a lot of of the items in i brought and donated most of it since they are so particular on what they sell. I feel like if you brought in a lot of name brand stuff, you'll get some more money back than I would've. Overall I don't shop here but I do bring in consignment items. read more

This is a very cute, well organized store! They have a great selection or shoes, bags, and clothes. I even got a great pair of sunglasses! This is a consignment shop, so the prices are going to be a bit higher than a thrift store, but the curation is excellent. I will definitely be back! read more

The lady that took my consignment items was so rude. {I have been told its the owners sister.} I never got a drop off receipt for the things that I left. I should have known at that time. Just figured they had a special method... yep st--ling. Months went by .. and no money. I went to check on my things not anywhere in the store either. I called and was told the check went out and came back. When I finally received a check, it was for under $20. I left that women with expensive Italian shoes, and other expensive and unique clothing ... that was the only reason that I consigned!! If my items weren't worth consigning, I would have donated them!!!! DO NOT CONSIGN with MY SECRET CLOSET! They are a ripoff!! Just as a point, this also happened to several others that I have recently spoken with. read more

I took about 15 of my daughter's dresses in for her-all of them high end-some with tags in April of 2023 (she works as a model). I went back in September and her one purse I had brought sold but nothing else. I looked around and none of her clothes were on racks. When I asked why, the lady told me they had been really busy and she hadn't had time to put them out yet-this was 4 months later! I thought her formal wear would have sold for prom, but now that was over and they were never put out for sale. She told me people buy dressy clothes all the time, that they would sell when she put them out. Months later I went in-still none of them displayed in either shop. I was told they were on the floor, I just didn't see them (sure!). I waited and came in a few months ago and was told none of them must have sold and they were donated probably (in other words, they have no idea what happened to them. This was thousands of dollars worth of dresses! My daughter got nothing from them, they don't know where they went and I have given up!! I would rather have donated them myself to a charity I believe in-who knows what they did with them! They took everything I brought -and sold nothing but the one purse they put out earlier. I brought it in with the dresses! I think something is wrong here but I will never go back. I advise people not to bring your items here. It feels dishonest to me! read more

I rarely review places and the few times I have they have been because they left a great impression. The lady who runs this place is rude. I can't think of a more accurate word. When dropping of things to be considered it felt as though I was bothering her. She was short and seemed very irritated. I should have packed it up and left but thought maybe she was simply having a bad day ...so I brushed it off. The following week I mentioned to a friend that I had left a few things there on consignment and before I could finish they interrupted with "that lady is the rudest person ever". So Where do I begin. I came in to drop off items for consignment. I was greeted with a half smile and a rude snotty attitude to be polite from the older lady in charge at the drop off. She gave me an" is this all of it" (btw it was like 2 small boxes) She gave me a look that FACE of I hate my job and my life and this is to much work. Then as I stood there waiting to see what I needed to do other older ladies came in and I guess i was standing in the way she looks at me and said ok move along.. I was thinking wow what a miserable human beinging. meanwhile my daughter and I was shopping my daughter text me mom this lady is following me . So I carefully looked and noticed she obviously was thinking my child was going to shop lift That was the last draw! She and I went to consignment part and sure enough she didnt take any of my stuff didn't even bother to look. She was interested at one Big collectible item I had. Love this store! My mother-in-law and I have bought many an article of clothing from here (as well as a lamp or two). Their prices are wonderful and they usually have a great selection of clothing, too. I got a pair of J.Crew linen trousers (like new!) for $16! Their other store in Mebane is bigger and has more furniture, house furnishings, etc. But I like this store's clothing selection better. We'll always be back! read more

I love going to antique shops/thrift shops and looking for cool finds. This shop is around the corner from my house, and I finally got a chance to pop in and see what it's all about. Definitely has a mix of everything, old and new. You can find brands that used to be popular in the 70s/80s/90s/and currently, so it's fun to look browse around. One negative I do have on this place is the pricing. For a shop that's selling used clothing, some of the price tags are kindof steep. But I do enjoy their selection and it's definitely cheaper than going to the mall for full priced items. read more

I was there about 3 weeks ago and wanted to spend about $200.00 on several items, which I had picked out and tried on. I went to the counter and an older lady with brown hair and glasses did not greet me at all. I had to ask how she was doing! Overlooking that I let her know that I wanted to purchase several items, but first I had questions about 2 pieces. She immediately and curtly stated that she would need to get the store owner/manager. I said okay and waited. I wanted to ask about pricing and about possible alterations on one piece, just to get the benefit of their knowledge. Silly me! Before I could finish the first question the STORE OWNER rudely and abruptly SNATCHED THE ITEMS FROM MY HANDS and walked away, while I was still asking. She refused to even entertain anything I had to say. The first clerk just looked at me with a half-smile on her face. She asked me "Is there anything else you want to know?" Then she chuckled. I could tell I was being mocked, so I put the items back and decided to spend my money elsewhere. I have frequently heard that this owner is quite moody and occasionally rude, but it was my first experience with it and it was so unwarranted! The owner really gives fuel to the cliche about women in business being driven more by emotion from moment to moment, rather than being customer service oriented or driven. How sad! I do not want to go there again, not even to consign after being treated so badly. And apparently she is very cavalier about it and picks on certain customers, according to an employee. I am very glad that what goes around comes around. Her behavior that day was uncalled for and I am sure I am not the only person she has treated this way. She has a very bad reputation at other consignment stores including her sister's for being irrational, illogical, unpleasant. I did not want to believe it, but now I know for myself. My favorite store ever!! Designer clothes, shoes, handbags... home goods almost new condition at a fraction of department store costs. Store and items always very clean. Found a pair of brand new Dansko mary jane clogs today for 35 bucks, hello!!! Cindy owner is so pleasant to talk to always smiling. Love this store! Always find so many cute things when I stop by. Today I was able to find a great Talbots coats, two Gap dresses with tags, cute Halloween decorations and a couple of tops. I've found a Kate Spade bag, Tory Burch shoes and Burberry trench coat in perfect condition in the past. Great prices for clothes that are in excellent condition. Can even find things still with tags on! Also have sold many things to this shop. Love shopping with store credit! (You get a discount when you buy things from your account, so total win-win). The selection at this store is great, and the cat makes the shopping experience extra friendly. The prices tend to be a bit higher than the Mebane store from my experience. I would not recommend consigning here because the staff in charge of that part of the store have been consistently rude and unhelpful, even at times insulting. read more

This place is a bargain hunter's dream. It's actually three stores: My Secret Closet is the main store, New Secrets is higher end stuff, and Lulu's Redux is where the biggest markdowns and bargains can be found. I always find something here! The store in Mebane has furniture while the Hillsborough stores have lots of clothes and also small housewares and books. I like the way they have the clothes organized (by size and by color) - you don't have to plow thru everything like you do at Goodwill. The quality of the merchandise is high - lots of the clothes look to be virtually new. Plus they have a very sweet shop cat! read more

They seem to have a pretty good selection of designer and no-name brands in very good shape. The store is very well organized and easy to navigate. The part that made me give them such a bad star rating was the customer service. No greeting when entering a store is okay and doesn't bother me at all. But, I went to the counter to find out where the dressing rooms were and she didn't speak or smile, just moved her eyes to look up. I said "Hello, this is my first time here. Where are the fitting rooms?" She did speak then and pointed me in the direction, but no "Oh, welcome to the store" or "glad you stopped by" or anything remotely like that. I tried on my items, put the ones I didn't want on the rack in the dressing area and went up to the register. A second woman had joined the first and they were chatting. Again, no greeting or smile, she just took my items and scanned them while chatting with the other woman. I feel the need to point out that neither of these women were teenagers, so I was a bit surprised. So, she tells me the total, I hand her my card to swipe, she hands me my card and the receipt to sign. Then she turns her back to me and resumes her conversation. So, no hello, no thank you, nothing. She did put my items in a bag, but didn't hand the bag to me. I felt like a nuisance more than a customer. Although the deals were pretty good, I don't know if I'll be back. It's possible they were just having an off day, but it left a bad taste for me. read more

I had been wanting to visit this store for quite awhile, however the woman in the back ruined it for me. She was very condescending and rude. She never greeted me upon entering and had a big attitude. She took 4 of my items for consignment. When I was signing the paperwork and asked her how much they would sell for, she laughed and said they're inexpensive items and she doesn't know. Ummmm okay well you picked these "inexpensive" items so ? Then I asked her what happens if they don't sell. She said we can pick them up or they'll donate them. When I asked her the date for pickup (these items, while "inexpensive" were all brand new with tags) she laughed and said "uh I mean do you really want to come all the way back here to pick them up"? Uh, clearly I do, that's why I asked! She never said hi, thank you for your business, nothing but attitude. It was terrible. Also, side note: the require you to put every item of clothing on hangers before bringing in and then hang them up on this sale rack. Everything was organized on my end. After picking the items to sell at the store, she threw the remaining items back into the bin I brought in, most off their hangers and in a very disorganized fashion. read more
