Stopped in at the end of the day on a sunday evening to grab some carry out, knowing full well that the staff were at the end of the day and would want to go home. I intentionally ordered some food that would hopefully be easy to put together, some hummus and tabbouli. Despite my feeling like "that person", I received nothing but a warm welcome and fantastic customer service for the short time I was there. The hubby and I both like their chicken shawarma with garlic entree with hummus and soup instead of the rice here. They do give you the bagged pita. It's what you would expect from a bagged pita, nothing special. The chicken meat is off a spit here. The meat is moist and decently flavored too. The service here is always good. It's been a while since my last review and things have changed--some for the better, but some for the worse. On the bright side of things, the interior has been updated and looks nice, with new flooring and coordinating wall paneling, a fake plant wall hanging, a snazzy "My Shawarma" neon sign and menu boards that rotate through different menus. They replaced the comfy booths with rather utilitarian looking tables and chairs, which was a little disappointing. The young women who waited on me were friendly and polite, apologizing when the order that was promised in 15 minutes wasn't ready for 30 minutes. The beef shawarma was as delicious as it's always been, and my daughter enjoyed it immensely. She was disappointed in the rice though and threw it away. It appears they changed the recipe, and it basically tasted like everyday white rice with the slightest hint of what makes rice at Middle Eastern restaurants so good. My husband enjoyed the hummus, while my daughter and I didn't like it because it's super creamy and tastes watered down. I'm assuming our order took double prep time because they forgot to make the entree. When we bit into our falafel sandwiches, they were cold throughout. The wrap and falafel were always warm in the past. They must have sat there so long that the juices from the pickles and/or tomatoes soaked into the pita wrap and it was mushy, which is unappetizing. My husband and I unwrapped them and didn't eat the squishy pita. As you may be able to see from the pictures of the lentil soup, it's oily and there are very few lentils in the soup, even after stirring. I had grease covering my fingers just from taking the lid off; lentil soup shouldn't be greasy. Their soup used to be thick, flavorful--stellar really--so I'm really bummed. To top it off, two of 5 cooks working in there kitchen had their masks pulled below their noses the entire 30 minutes I was there. I'm sad because this was our go-to for excellent Middle Eastern food. We'll give them another try when the need for masks is gone in hopes the experience today was a fluke. We'd eaten here before, and it was excellent. Now it's a must MISS!! Several of us came in for lunch, about 11.30am. had an advertised lunch special which seemed fair. Order and sit down and wait. And wait. And wait. 25-30 min for the food to be ready. The tables seemed to have not been cleaned lately, and the woman's bathroom was locked. Is it out of order? Put up a sign that it is. Had to use the men's room. No TP, and the soap dispenser was empty, which is probably illegal, or a health code violation. No glasses for water?? Trying to force you to buy a beverage. We had each ordered a shawarma wrap. The meat was plentiful, but dry and tasteless. As was the garlic dip, the pickles in the roll ups, and the hummus and shawarma. Those sides were also plentiful, but with no flavor, why bother eating them? The pita is bagged and pretty plentiful, but not warmed at all. The orders came out one at a time. The place, overall, looked a little dingy and uncared for. As if they are just trying to wring every last dime out of the place before getting out of there. Other than the french fries, pretty much everything should have been quick to put together and be served, not 25-30 min. They were not super busy, either. Do yourself a favor. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!! I was in the mood for some Shawarma. I found this place and waited a little bit for food. Probably longer than needed. My pita of chicken Shawarma was good. The fries and the hummus were both tasteless. There seemed to be no salt. From conversation that I heard, they are under new management, so it might make sense that things take a little bit more time. There were so many choices available and I kept contemplating on which one to stop at, as I had already surpassed about 4 restaurants. I finally decided to stop at Canton Pita because I noticed a lunch special sign on the front door in bold letters. The special was for $7.99 which included a beef shwarma sandwich with 2 sides and I went with hummus and salad. I also ordered an extra beef shwarma. The shwarma were excellent. The beef was tender, chewy and tasteful. There was plenty beef in the sandwich. It was complimented with tomatoes, pickles and tahini sauce. The hummus was smooth and creamy and very flavorful. My salad was good too. Fresh greens drizzled with olive oil and served with pita bread and garlic sauce. I can see myself returning to canton pita, but given the choice of so many Mediterranean restaurants in the area, it'll be hard to stay loyal to just one. read more

Canton Pita was a new stop for me on my lunch break one day. I was excited to try it out as I've heard wonderful things about it! We placed an order over the phone in order to have time to eat. They ended up being packed. People were waiting for their food in long lines. My coworkers food took about 45 minutes. The wait didn't bother me, as I know things are difficult for businesses right now and so many are short staffed. What bothered me was a strong skunky smell from the back. When we first arrived it wasn't noticeable but eventually overpowered the smell of my food. I went to the bathroom, which was unusable at the time, and noticed the back door open and a staff member smoking. I can only guess that's where it was coming from. It was very off putting and it made enjoying my food difficult. The beef shawarma was ok. It came with a big thing of hummus, which was good. Overall, there's a lot of competition in the area, and because of this, I likely won't be back to Canton Pita in the future. read more

Today is short review Monday. If there isn't such a thing, than I just made it up today. In reality I'm keeping this one short because there's not much to say about this place. The Pros: Easy to find in a strip mall right on Ford Rd. Basic middle eastern food, what you're typically looking for. Pretty standard pricing, for these parts. Food is fresh and well made. The Cons: Getting in and out of the parking lot can be a pain in the butt. It's so close to the intersection. The food being so fresh adds a longer wait time. Food was good but a little American-ized. I like to taste a little more of where it's from. Overall a good place to stop in to eat. It's just kinda whatever. I'll add pics of the menu. As the three star rating indicates, this place is A-OK. The staff is always friendly and hard working. The restaurant is small but clean which is something I always notice when I'm eating at a restaurant. It's a nice place to enjoy a good meal and they always have a steady stream of customers both dining in or carrying out. The food is always decent and consistent in flavor and quality. I don't live in this area so we only eat here on occasion when we're on this side of town. Comparing this restaurant to a Middle Eastern restaurant I visited recently on my side of town in Macomb County, I'd have to say hands down, the restaurant on my side of town is superb as far as flavor, quality and quite frankly, has more generous servings for the price. The restaurant on my side of town is also small and has a large carry out following, so they're very similar in that aspect. Sure, we will keep eating here when we visit Canton because it's definitely a good place to eat a good meal with friendly, efficient, attentive service and hard working individuals. read more

I normally come here in least once a week. I've had a few bad experiences here: The first one being when they messed up my Fatoosh salad and it had no flavor, burnt chicken and no pita chips. When I called the manager he was pretty unfriendly and said I'm lucky I got him on the phone bc he's only there one day a week and I had to bring it in that day, or I wouldn't get help. Great attitude. I overlooked that and gave this place another try. I got a shish tawook sandwich and there was a wooden barb left in the sandwich. I found out bc it almost broke my tooth. I gave this place one more chance today.. needless to say there was another wooden barb I bit down on. Never coming back regardless of how good their garlic sauce is. Bad customer service, food takes in least 10 minutes longer than what was told, and the food quality has gone down tremendously. We were not impressed, Took a chance after reading all the great reviews. My husbands Coriander chicken was like shoe leather with absolutely no flavor. I had a shish tawook sandwich, It had so much dark meat it grossed me out! I have never had a shish tawook sandwich with dark meat, It wasn't good at all. The only thing we enjoyed was the lentil soup. Nice work on the soup, But never again. Looks like we need to go to Dearborn for better middle eastern food. I would love to give this place 5 stars. They are always busy and always delicious. I got take out yesterday, and it was So good, I decided to get it again today. Except - phone problems again. Got disconnected, then it was busy, then when it finally rang through, it just rang and rang and rang. I ended up going somewhere else because of this. They don't have online ordering and their phone issues are problematic. Maybe they just have so many customers, they don't need any more. Idk. This place is hit or miss. Prices are a bit above average for fast-food takeout. But they really don't do fast, especially if you're in a hurry. Take-out sometimes can have you waiting 35-45 minutes. The food is average, nothing special. Meat shawarama sandwiches are as good as most other places if you are able to eat it as soon as hey serve it, otherwise, for takeout, it's soggy, wet, and not even warm. Ordered a the Steak sub a couple times. For almost $10, you'd think you'd get some meat on that bread, but you'd be wrong. A toasted sesame hoagie can be pretty hard by the time you get around to eating it, and finding meat in the sandwich is an exercise in patience. Plus the meat isn't really steak--it seems they are using shawarma shavings to make a steak-sub. EPIC FAIL. The Chicken sub is better, but the amount of chicken for this bread also leaves you wanting, and makes you feel like you're eating a bread salad sandwich. What's the point? Overall, a bit over-priced and perhaps overrated, but this is canton. $6 for a shawarma isn't outrageous, but it can be done better. Staff is friendly and seating is available, but don't plan to sit there for too long if you have a bad back as their chairs are awful and very uncomfortable.
