We've heard about it but have never been in the immediate area to try it.... until today. While we waited, we spoke to two women, both confirming the food here is authentic Syrian cuisine. The hummus is good and creamy and the falafel is loaded with flavour. The tahini is a perfect compliment and the spice is right-on. However, the meat shawarma was dry and the tabouli salad tasted off. I did like the shish kebab with rice. It's a friendly place with friendly people. A very enticing atmosphere yet unassuming. Well lit, very clean. It's not often that we're in this area, when we are, we'll be sure to stop again. 01/26 read more

Bursting with flavor! I stopped in tonight for the first time to pick up a takeout dinner after visiting someone who lives nearby. I got chicken kofta Perfect with rice and soup, salad and vegetarian grape leaves. I figured this would be plenty of food for dinner today and dinner tomorrow. First of all when you walk in the door it smells fabulous. Lots of good food in the process of being cooked and served. Service was great. I got takeout and I didn't really have to wait very long. The chicken was delicious. Perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Big portion of rice to go with it. The fatoush salad with dressing was yummy. Finally the vegetable grape leaves were so good I can't wait to get them again. There is indoor seating so if you're inclined to dine in you certainly can. Great location ease of access and I was on my way home. read more

The owner is the NICEST person ever! Super willing to answer questions. The food itself I might rate at 4 stars. There was definitely a large ~quantity~ of food, but some of it was more hit and miss than others. The chicken shawarma was great, and the almond rice with toasted almonds was AMAZING. I just wish the lamb shawarma that we got had some more crispy bits that we love. The baba ghanoush was a tad too smoky (didn't realize that was possible!) with possibly too much salt as well. We still really enjoyed our takeout though, and we'll be back. read more

Just got carryout for the 1st time and... WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!? Easily my new favorite place for beef kabobs and rice pilaf... and garlic sauce... and hummus. And tawook was awesome too. Had a really great meal here. Feta Fatoush was great with fresh pomegranate seeds, tomatoes and Feta with a great dressing. Had a chicken cream chop sandwich which was quite good and girlfriend loved her Kabob sandwich. Reasonably priced for the great quality. Staff was friendly. Will be back. read more

Let me begin by saying, they have THE BEST salad dressing I've ever tasted! This salad was amazing! I've never seen one with the citrus on top. The feta on the fattoush gave a new spin to an old favorite. I also had a chicken shawarma (not pictures). It was your regular sandwich and came second to the salad. Well.....my first trip (carryout) was approx 3 weeks ago and I ordered the hummus with chicken shawarma, fattoush salad and rice with almonds. Rice: outstanding! Salad: very fresh, wish it included crispy pita chips, dressing was slightly tangier than our other go to place. I didnt mind it but suspected that my hubs would (I dined alone this trip) Hummus: verrrry good (garlic too) Shawarma chicken:.......verrrry dry I was disappointed the chicken was small chips and dry, crusty edged pieces. I had seen the meat on the spit and it was rather skinny so I thought perhaps I had gone late enough in the day that I was getting the end/overcooked part of the days offerings. This place came highly recommended to me. Picked up a carryout order for dinner. The gentleman who cashed me out (I'm assuming he was the business owner) is extremely polite and welcoming, so a great first impression. He knew I was fasting at the time, so he gave me a free dessert to go with my meal which I appreciated. Overall I thought the food was great. The salad was quite large and I especially enjoyed the dressings that came with it (both the pomegranate vinaigrette and fattoush dressing). Go light on them though as they are very tangy if you over do them. Lamb had a good flavor, but was a little overcooked for my liking. When I made it into a sandwich with the fries and garlic sauce, it was quite a good meal. The only thing I would say I didn't care for was the lentil soup. It wasn't bad by any means, just different from what I am used to. Still despite the shortcomings I think this place deserves its high rating. read more

Been trying to get inside this restaurant for over a year, since Covid Closed the dining room. How cool just reopened a couple weeks ago. Only a handful of Authentic Syrian Restaurants around Metro Detroit. We had a marvelous hour plus experience, the owner and staff treated us like family. Whenever we hear the names of dishes like fattoush or hummus, we think of the Lebanese cuisine. However, these dishes are also part of traditional Syrian cuisine. This is mainly because the traditional foods in Syria have been derived from various other regions of the world especially after the Islamic era. Having gone through various conquests by the Arabs, Persians and Ottoman Turks, the traditional food in Syria are similar to other cuisines like the Levant, Lebanese and middle-eastern cuisines. Kinda went over board had 4 large containers with leftovers, three of us stuffed with unique outstanding food's. Here's a list hopefully not forgotten anything. Fatoush Salad, Lentils Soup, Toum, Hummus, Syrian Spicy Red Bread. A most delicious Cauliflower n Tahini Sauce dish WOWED. Real Lamb Kafta and Chicken Kafta both bursting with unique flavors. Tender moist Rice n Falafel perfect for sharing. A smashed Lamb in a pita Arayes and a plate of very best ever Batata Harra. A OMG dish instant addiction and a must try. Batata Harra literally means spicy potatoes--a fairly popular Middle Eastern skillet potatoes dish. I will be back - this place gets it! I worked in Dearborn for years and experienced some great Middle Eastern food. I thought I would try someplace closer to home and was very impressed by the pride they showed in their food and its presentation. Great house salad and dressings. Both the chicken and meat were flavorful and moist. Kafta had great seasoning and well cooked. Hummus was exceptional and a bit unique - absolutely smooth and slightly nutty with just right amount of garlic. Baba was smoky, smooth and great seasoning Cant speak highly enough about this place read more

Best Mediterranean ever! Mosaud (owner) takes special attention to food requests. The beef kabob dinners are our absolute favorite. Only tenderloin beef used! Perfect spicing and tender every time. Their rice with almond slivers is always fresh. The fattouch salad with fresh vegetables is never wilted. We pay extra to add feta cheese...yummy! The grilled vegetables are also very fresh...extra side order....with mushrooms, green and red peppers, onions and carrots is ALWAYS an add on to our orders. We order chicken kabobs also as 2nd food choice. Yep...we are regular customers...no special discounts for this honest review...lol! read more

I had the falafel platter and veggie grape leaves. My husband had the chicken shawarma. DELICIOUS! The falafel were a bit different than anything I've had before, and I loved them!!!! They were shaped kind of like little donuts instead of the typical like round dome shape, and they had these toasted sesame seeds that gave the falafel a bit of a nuttier flavor. Amazinggggg. Just wow. Went there for a late dinner after traveling from lax. Almost closing time and they were just so accommodating and truly truly amazing. Gave us some appetizer while we waited for our food and the shawarma was soooo juicy and so flavorful. Truly I can't stop thinking about it. Tried this restaurant today for the first time. So good! Had the chicken shawarma meal on Baba ghanouj with fries and a salad and a cream chop chicken sandwich with tabbouleh and garlic sauce. It was a lot of food! The chicken shawarma meal was HUGE! I was shocked when we opened everything up and found a full portion of each salad, fries, and chicken for the price of one meal. Their website made it super easy to order online and everything was ready when we arrived. We ordered take out and had a picnic at a near by park! Highly recommend this place! read more

The place was bustling and I managed to snag one of the last open tables. Fatteh with meat- For the uninitiated, this is akin to a parfait of pure deliciousness. It's a dish constructed in layers, with fried khubz (fried pita chips), meat, toasted nuts, pomagranate ariels, yoghurt, whole tender chickpeas, and hummus. This time, the pita chips were sogy and not crunchy even though we dug in immediately. Otherwise, this dish was flawless. The large size is huge and enough for four people to share. 6 Falafel- They come drizzled with tahini and a touch of spice. They are tender and moist inside, and the outside is fried so that somehow it's maximally crispy without lacerating the inside of your mouth. It's flavorful enough to eat by itself, or dipped in the sauce it comes with or any of the other dips you order. Hummus- This is smooth and topped with whole, tender chickpeas nested in the middle, and a sprinkle of dried herbs. There's not a lot of olive oil that comes with the dish, but there's olive oil provided at the table to help with adjusting the consistency if you desire. This was the perfect consistency and delicious overall. If this was the only hummus available to me for the rest of my life, I would be happy. The bread is commercial pita bread wrapped in a basket at the table, and they give you the usual assortment of vegetables (sliced tomato, onion, pickles, etc) on a plate as well to enjoy with your meal.

It's been a couple of months since then, but we finally decided to visit recently for breakfast. Unlike the Lebanese breakfasts places around Dearborn, this restaurant was pretty empty with only two other tables with patrons. Falafel, 1/2 Doz ($5.99) - The quality is evident in these falafels and you can tell they are made to order. They have a very delicate crisp on the exterior throughout and the interior is more mashed and fine as compared to a typical falafel. It seems like it's purely chickpea, without the addition of herbs. It comes drizzled with tahini and comes with a nice lemony yogurt sauce on the side. The mix of chickpeas and spices is phenomenal - these are some of the best falafels I've had. Spicy Potatoes ($6.99) - A good size portion of pan fried potatoes mixed with cilantro and a small amount of pepper flakes. I wouldn't really call these spicy - there's barely any pepper in it at all. The potatoes are fluffy and come with a yogurt dipping sauce on the side. Fatteh w/ Meat, Large ($16.99) - I'm no expert on the difference between Lebanese and Syrian food, but from what I can tell, this Syrian-style fatteh has pomegranate arils mixed in and is quite a bit less liquidy. This allows the pita chips on the bottom to still retain a nice crunch, unlike how soggy the chips are in the Lebanese fatteh I've had. The dish had a very nice mix of yogurt, giving and tangy taste, and hummus and chickpeas. Then it's topped with a mixture of lamb and beef (it has a bit of a gaminess to it) and toasted cashews. I think this is the best fatteh I've had so far. We actually also ordered a medium hummus as well but they forgot to bring it out. To be honest, though, when we saw the size of the fatteh, we were glad they forgot the hummus! It's huge - between the two of us, we only finished maybe 1/4 of it. On the side, they give you a plate of fresh mint, pickles, onion, and tomato to use as garnish. We also got 4 whole pitas to eat everything with. I would definitely come eat at Shamiat again - in fact, I'd probably rather go here than to AlTayeb, because of the fact that Shamiat is just a whole lot less crowded and is equally delicious. I highly recommend trying out Shamiat if you're in the area.

They are located inside of a plaza and there is a lot of parking. The restaurant seems small, but the other side has seating I believe. I ordered their chicken shawarma bowl and it was 16$ which I felt was super expensive. But I wanted a bowl so I ordered it. None of my food was hot. My rice was lukewarm, the chicken was cold and the cauliflower was not good and cold. I wanted the veggies (zucchini, onion, carrot mix), but the guy who made my food said there was no more, but it looked like they were cooking it. He didn't ask if I wanted to wait so I felt rushed. The only thing I liked about all this was the potatoes. They were so good. I asked for beets and I got pickled turnips. They did put 2 beets but they were super hard. The chicken did not have much seasoning to it. And I didn't get a lot of it. It was so finely chopped that I didn't notice it. I did not finish my meal at all. I want to give them another try because the guy (maybe owner) was so nice. Like so pleasant and sincere. But the worker who made my food was kind of standoffish. The girl at the counter was nice also. Maybe I will come before 8pm and try their food.

Where I ended up at was one of the best Middle Eastern fast casual places ever. You can order from the entree menu or build a custom bowl to your liking. I ended up getting the mixed grill because I couldn't choose just one thing and washed it down with beet juice. For almost $40 I go hummus, pita bread, fattoush salad, and a ton of rice, meat and chicken. The salad dressing was the best I ever had for fattoush, the chicken/meat items were all perfectly tender and well seasoned. This was enough to feed 2-3 people easily, and there was not one thing from here I did not absolutely love. This will not be the last time I come here. Make sure to understand that the food is made to order, so if you're coming for a quick lunch be a little patient.

I am the only customer inside for lunch today. Some food delivery pick-ups and the DoorDash ding going off in the background. Ordered the molokhia soup, lentil soup, combo mazza with fattoush less pita instead of the salata masria, feteer chicken shawarma and side of falafel. $49.78 They are out of the Fakhfakhina drink, sounds interesting with the strawberries, ice cream, sounds kind of like a float. I couldn't try a taste of the molokhia soup to see if it would be good or not. I have no idea what Jute is, had to look it up. It's a green leaf soup. I went with the feteer chicken since it's a light breading vs the hawashi. The lentil is extremely runny, doesn't taste as expected, rather subtle flavors, mostly bland. Some rice as filler. Comes in a small cup. The falafels are shaped like small donuts, they are crispy, but the inside is soft. They aren't too bad, just mostly taste the oil from the fry session more than the chick peas. Super light and crunchy though. The roasted eggplants are food, has a nice kick to it. The hummus is super smooth and a tad runny, reminds me of tahini sauce. The fattoush is okay. Could use some sumac to flavor it up some. The cucumbers are too water logged, tomatoes aren't ripe and lettuce is wilted. The Molokhia soup has a rather slimy and glutinous texture, it's quite odd. Not for me at all. Comes in a large bowl. The waiter waiting on me is eating behind the checkout counter after he dropped off my last dish. The feteer is an Egyptian quesadilla. Cheese, tomato, green peppers, black olives and chicken shawarma. It's good with the hummus or the garlic sauce. The feteer is definitely worth the I felt like the experience for me was very much transactional.

The…read morelovely couple who owns it make sure that the customers are satisfied and go above and beyond to have them to try and do things as well. This place is usually busy because the food is so good and they take such care with every meal that they prepare. Try the OMG sauce and you'll be so pleasantly surprised.

What you get here is incredible value for the sheer amount of food you get and will definetely have leftovers. Yes, the food is plentiful and the price is decent, but the food is average. Spend a few extra dollars and go elsewhere. My favorite part was the bread, which was made in house. The fattoush salad was also delicious. My lunch combo leftovers are probably going to wind up tossed... My mom had a veggie dish with undercooked carrots. She found the lentil soup to be missing flavor. Service was fine and there are some tables. A lot of their business seems to be carry out and catering.

I also had Alice's pudding which was like a cold soup with chocolate with coconut and walnuts.
