Super juicy meats. Did a carry out and was quick and easy. Been looking for a good garlic sauce for a while.

I've been a loyal customer of the La Shish/Shisho family of restaurants for years, which is why this review is so disappointing to write. A few days ago, I tried ordering through DoorDash, but after my driver was turned away four different times and I waited over an hour, I finally canceled the order. I decided to give them another chance and picked it up myself today, hoping it was just a one-time issue. Unfortunately, the food quality and attention to detail were noticeably different from what I've always loved. The chicken shawarma lacked the bold, flavorful seasoning they're known for and was very light on the garlic. They also forgot the small container of garlic sauce they normally include. The hummus arrived plain--no drizzle of olive oil and no sprinkle of paprika, which has always been part of the presentation. Even the pickled turnips were a very pale pink instead of the vibrant, tangy pickles they've traditionally served. None of these things alone would have prompted a review, but together they make it feel like the quality and consistency have declined. As a long-time customer, that's really disappointing because this used to be one of my favorite places in Canton. I truly hope this is just a temporary slip and not the new standard, because I'd love to see La Shisho return to the quality that made me a loyal customer for so many years. read more

This restaurant is our go to Mediterranean restaurant for years and it never fails to disappoint. We decided to do a family lunch here recently and ordered the combo platter for four and whole deboned chicken. The lamb shank, chicken tawook were phenomenal. The chicken is both dishes was so juicy and melting in our mouths, cooked to perfection. In addition to that, they give you fresh bread from their oven (which you can see them making). The garlic sauce and hot bread always hit the spot. They always have seating available for family and it's a nice ambiance with traditional Mediterranean decor. If you haven't tried this restaurant yet you have to check it out! It might become your staple too. read more

Now I always ask for it to be fresh cause if u don't they will give u what they have had sitting out for the last past 15 minutes. I definitely asked for my food fresh. Checked my meat on the side but not my tawook. On my way to work start eating my sandwich and it's cold. I call in to let them know. I work in Jackson no way can I return it. Food and service were good. They have good sized portions and fresh bread hot out the oven. With Mediterranean/Arabic restaurants being pretty common in this area, they didn't really stick out as something new or above and beyond. The seating area was a little old and in need of a little updating and cleaning. Nothing special but also no real complaints. A good local spot. I've ordered from this place several times and I've had more good experiences than bad experiences there but today was the THIRD time they gave me a salad with spoiled brown lettuce and slimy onion. It was not edible at all. The rice that came with the entree was also hard and clearly not fresh. I called and spoke to one of the workers and he was very nice and apologetic. He offered to have it remade but I was heading to work so I didn't have time to go pick up another order so I asked for a refund. He said he couldn't do a refund without the owners permission and put me on hold to talk to him. I talked to the owner and explained the situation and he told me "I'll take care of you next time". I asked for a refund and his tone changed and he said "ok bring the food back in". I said I'm literally on my way to work and he said ok bring the food back after work. I said I can bring the food back tomorrow because they will be closed by the time I get off work and he said ok. At that point it was not only a waste of my money but also a waste of my time. So after I hung up I decided I'll just write a review and they can see a picture of the food because I'm not wasting my time driving back for them to believe me that they served poor quality food. I'm honestly not sure why Shisho Palace has less than 4 stars on Yelp. Their grilled platter for two was amazing - all the meats were cooked perfectly. Baba ghanoush! Already excited was not disappointed with Shishos's! The baba was Smokey garlicky goodness served with house made hot pita breads, so good! We also had the lamb grape leaves, smooth as silk tasty hummous and their garlic spread! I could have just feasted on appetizers. Our party had chicken platter which was cooked perfectly, lamb chops and I had a lamb tomato dish which was good but I longed for a more stew/tomato type dish (they were out of my first choice) it was still tasty. Th platters seem the way to go. If I return to MI I would order that way to have more of all these fantastic items and family style it! I'm going to give them five stars because that was the best deboned chicken from a Mediterranean restaurant I've ever had. That being said, I Door Dashed $218 worth of food for my film crew and they gave us zero plasticware so we had to eat with our hands. The food here consistently tastes amazing, and because of this I wanted to give a higher rating than when I wrote my first review after finding a sharp, hard piece of metal in our food. The reason for the 3 definitely isn't the food. It's a solid 5. We LOVE their fresh baked bread and order hummus to go with it, along with the garlic paste it comes with. My daughter always asks to go here for the bread, and she's crazy about the lamb with pine nuts. The flavor of the entree is exceptional. It's hit or miss as to how much meat you get, depending on who cooks and plates it. The hummus is excellent with the meat, as well as using the leftover for the bread, since the hummus has oil and spices from the meat mixed. Their lamb chili is outstanding, and is great in lunches the next day if you don't have enough room to eat it with your dinner. Their fattoush salad is wonderful, with crisp greens, and the lentil soup is another favorite (though sometimes the latter is a bit runny and needs salt). We've ordered a number of dishes from here and none disappoint. As far as service goes, we've only order carryout since the pandemic hit. The young woman who runs the register is always exceptionally friendly and nice, which makes guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, they are not following the mask rule, which I find concerning as I know people who have died from COVID. Two workers came out of the kitchen without masks on one visit. One had his on his chin while he put my bread into a bag and carried it open to the counter, breathing on it the whole way. I know the chances are slim for getting sick from this but they still exist, so I can't give a higher rating because of this. As far as the food goes though, it's a solid 5! read more

I have been to La Shisho a few times but for some reason never left them a review. The last time I was in Detroit visiting my children, I stopped by here to grab some lunch. I ordered a beef shawarma sandwich and a sautéed chicken with musroom (lunch portion) that came with hummus and tons of pita bread. The Shawarma was on point. It was packed with beef and tzatziki sauce and the all the fixings. The grilled chicken n mushroom was delicious and seasoned very well. Their hummus is good and a perfect compliment to the pita bread. They also have a spicy version of hummus available which is better. They have this lamb with hummus dish which I think is their cream of the crop. It comes with either regular or spicy hummus. My recommendation is to definitely try that dish. While the greater city of Detroit offers many middle eastern restaurants, La Shisho is another venue not to be missed. read more

Forgot to check in. Got a carry out shawarma chicken salad. Chicken was a nice amount perfectly seasoned in a separate container from the fresh tossed salad with the dressing on the side. Husband got a Kafka sandwich which was generous with the ingredients; also got a cup of tasty lentil soup. We received the warm bread with garlic sauce and their special salsa. Everything was hot. We ordered carry-out a couple of weeks ago and the food was plentiful, hot, and tasty. Fast-forward to lunch this week when the two of us chose to dine-in. The entire place was extremely filthy. The restrooms were so disgusting I wish I never went. If this is how they care for the areas the public can see, I hate to imagine how dirty the kitchen must be. One of the servers (male, young, short) had his face covering at his chin most of the time. He came out of the kitchen blowing his nose in a napkin and didn't wash his hands afterward. He was talking with an older male server, watching tv, on his phone, and picking his nose. We have ordered trays of food for a party of 30 people. All orders are double trays ranging from $70(Vegetable Ghallaba) to Lamb or deboned chicken for $70 full sized but shallow trays as explained to us before ordering(including Ghallaba, shallow tray only. Only rice and salad come in big deep trays. We paid close to $850 on the order. Two shallow Hommous trays for $40 each. My wife picked up all 17 items alone and there was nobody to help. This did not cause much trouble for us but here are the following we noticed. which I thought I should write for the fellow orderers. After driving to party place, we opened to see 1) both the shallow Ghallaba shallow trays were only half full(half of shallow trays- I have taken pictures that I can upload if possible) 2) both lamb shallow trays only half full (have pictures) 3) there were no almond slices in the rice order (have a picture) 4) Hommous tray were had a wavy design with a big dips periodically with only hills reaching close to the shallow top (basically a technique to reduce quantity - I have taken pictures too) Qualitywise, I have no complaints about deboned chicken, bread, hommous, and salad. Ghallaba was mosty filled with Carrots and not impressed. In all only semi-satisfied. Response was mean from the lady at the front desk. In spite of the fact that we checked each of trays during the order, we felt very cheated. The lady responds, "I never told you, the trays will be full". Then why didn't tell me that?, I asked. The response was, "You never asked me". So the lesson learned is that please check your big orders and these guys will undercut your quantity and quality as much as they can. read more

The staff was very kind and when I asked for a side of pickles to go because of how phenomenal they were (they make them in house!), I was given a take out box full of them. Also you are immediately brought out warm fluffy bread with garlic sauce to dip while you wait for your food. Tonight we dined out and still received the same great experience. For three sandwiches, lentil soup, side of pickles and turnips, tabbouli, mediterranean salsa, and 1 dozen bread, it was only $33! The 1 dozen bread only $3.50 and it's a big bag!! I usually don't leave reviews good or bad just not what I do. But I had tooo this time!!!! I Ordered on Uber eats received the wrong order. I ordered lamb chop and received chicken instead. I contacted the restaurant their resolution was to bring the chicken back come in the pouring rain to pick up the correct order. Or contact Uber to get a refund. So basically as the customer I am inconvenienced either way. So I gather the wrong order and took it back in the pouring rain so that my family could have dinner. After working a 12 hour day I didn't feel up to cooking or going out hence which was the entire purpose of ordering Uber Eats. My driver was GREAT but the restaurant was absolutely TERRIBLE. My food was cold and it was Just a mess. Next time I will just make PBJ sandwiches. Not worth it!!!!! read more

The bread was the only thing made fresh. The salad was ok. The deboned chicken and shawarma combo was old. They took a very long time bringing it(no one else was in there so we are not sure why) our food was cold.
