I recently called in a catering order from this Al Ameer location for my daughter's birthday party. Apologies for not having pictures of the food, but the staff handled my order perfectly and the portions were quite fair. We ordered a variety of kabobs, fried kibbe, fattoush, hummus, chicken tenders, potato balls and more. Everything was delicious, nothing tasted overcooked or dry, and my family was very satisfied. Al Ameer had a location in Canton many years ago that failed miserably due to poor service and underwhelming food. So much good food! I stopped in the Canton location (definitely more of a take out vibe than a dine in vibe, though they do have seating inside for some casual dining). I ordered the Al Ameer platter, with yellow rice and tabbouli as the sides, plus the Sujuk sampler and a medium hummus. The platter was listed as "for 2" but it was huuuge! Definitely going to be enjoying the leftovers. The medium hummus was also really big. Good value for these large portion sizes! All of this also came with a large bag full of pita bread, garlic sauces (yum), tahini sauce, and a tiny thing of olive oil for (I assume) drizzling over the hummus. Also was very tasty, though we did eat reheated instead of fresh (as I picked this up mid afternoon for a later dinner). I think maybe some of the meat dried out a little bit in the microwave. TL;DR: The menu prices and food quality are the same as the Dearborn Heights location, but the experience isn't. Food for 3 people came out to be $60 with tip, and I'm not convinced that the cost of the food here matches the setup of this location. --- An Al-Meer location in Canton! We're frequent customers of the Al Ameer in Dearborn Heights and were delighted to realize they had opened up a location in Canton. This restaurant is not like the Dearborn Heights location. It's been built to exude more of a "fast, upscale casual" vibe but the menu matches what we've seen before. And the cooking does too! The food tasted exactly like what we were used to, so we were extremely pleased. This is what really counts. So why not 5 stars? Though the menu and quality remain the same, the prices do too. We opted to dine-in and the experience was a bit lackluster. There are a few tables for seating, but this location was clearly not designed for the normal dine-in experience. We sat down and eventually they brought us our food... which was on a tray and everything was just in plastic take-out containers. The expectation was clear that we had to bus everything ourselves after that, though the employees were nice when we asked for some water. Also, if you're going to put everything in plastic take out containers, it would be nice to offer the opportunity for recycling if people choose to dine in. It felt like such a sad thing to throw away. read more

I feel misled. Maybe it's my fault for trusting food reviewers but this place sucks. The bread is good, but that's about it. The Schwarma was dry, barely had any sauce on it. All chicken, really no pickles and no tomatoes? Weird aftertaste. They also don't have a description of what's in it on their website and you can't make "special requests" when you order. The garlic sauce was in a mini plastic bag which tells me they don't make it in house. If you're expecting toum type sauce, this isn't it. It's clearly made from chickpeas which I hate. Would've been nice to know but again, no description on their website. Horrible. The reviewer I heard about this place from claimed there was some sort of molasses and a "chefs kiss" technique they use and neither of those things were available, advertised or provided. With all the competition, they need to do a lot better. Won't be back. read more

Food was good but the staff was rude and unhelpful when they did not give a food item that was charged to the credit card. The staff gave different answers ranging from we are out of it, to we don't have it, to you ordered from door dash and would not rectify the problem. I ordered through their website (they now say it was doordash). The receipt and order process through their website does NOT identify doordash in any way. I do not use doordash. The food wasn't bad but the customer service was poor. Will not go back. Average food is too easy to find elsewhere. read more

Been here a few times and want to share my experience. The good: Baba Ganoush was excellent. Beef kebabs were great. The white rice is surprisingly good. Chicken Shawarma was very good. Mujadra was very good. The deboned chicken with garlic and lemon sauce was heavenly. Not so good? The greek salad was very meh. Dressing wan't very greek dressing like. Really bad? The pitas. Supposedly freshly baked but our bag of 12 were all burnt pucks. Would have made a good sub if a hockey game broke out. Overall we are figuring out what we like and will def be back. Hopefully they figure out the pita problem. read more

Absolute worst takeout I have ever had. The canton location is nothing like the one in Dearborn heights. Very overpriced, ordered a platter and the meat was all very dry. Could not even get the beef kabob off the wooden skewer. Garlic and tahini are mass produced and not fresh or authentic. Would not recommend. read more

I tend to forget these type of reviews on social tend to be "fake" or paid! We ordered chicken shawarma , falafel, and chicken tawook sandwiches! The falafel was good! But the chicken shawarma tasted chickeney, lacked flavor spice and just tasted off. It did not taste like nor appear to be shawarma.. more like broasted chicken pieces made to appear like shawarma! One of the chicken shawarma had a nice size bone in it, which furthered my suspicion that it may not be shawarma.. don't get me wrong I'm sure this happens but the chicken did not look like nor taste like any shawarma I'd eaten before!!! The chicken tawook had a funky metallic grilled taste and again lacked spice and flavor and very little garlic on the chicken sandwiches! Brought my family in for a quick dinner and had a great experience! Our favorite was the Rice Almond Salad with chicken and potatoes! The staff was so friendly and we were given some baklava to have with our tea! Restaurant was also clean and just remodeled, which was fantastic! I had a difficult time choosing so I stuck with the basics and ordered the chicken shawarma entree with the crushed lentil soup and Lebanese salad as my sides. I didn't call ahead but receive my food in about 10 minutes. There was a bag of warm pita that had a great chewy texture and I noted a slight sweetness. I usually toss the pita from other restaurants but this will be eaten over the next several days. Their garlic spread is silky smooth and not overly garlicky. The salad was fresh and crunchy. Lentil soup was really good. I would have liked a squeeze of lemon to brighten it up a little but there is plenty of flavor. The chicken shawarma was sliced thin the way I prefer it. It wasn't greasy but nice and moist and tender too and they added chopped pickles, lettuce and chopped tomatoes on the side. I have no complaints and plan to make this my go to even though I drive past another Mediterranean restaurant to get to AlAmeer-Canton. Why? The customer service and ambiance. I was greeted warmly and I appreciate the brightness and cleanliness of AlAmeer-Canton. The branding is noticeable as well from the bottled water to the dressing packet.
