He did both my deep tissue massage and hydra lift facial. The lines on my forehead have smoothed out considerably! There are a large hot pool, sauna and steam room, which all hotel guests get a 30% discount to access. You must wear a swimsuit. Close to giving it 5 stars but a few things holds it back…read more Let's start with the good. The staff here is all friendly and accommodating. Everything is very clean and well kept. The stay includes breakfast which is nicely done with many options to select from the buffet. The room we had was big with plenty of storage and closet space. The bathroom was amazing and HUGE. Double sinks, giant circular hot tub style tub which normally I'm not a bath person but couldn't pass it up. Also a full shower which was very nice. Bed and bedding was high end and comfortable. They have nightly turn down service and constantly leave little gifts of port or sweet treats along with chocolates. Sounds good right so what's holding it back? For starters one reason I was attracted to the hotel is their mention of their onsite wine cellar and service but it's not open for business only special parties. Yet they still publicize it as it's functioning. Also they promote mentions of a rooftop bar but this is actually at their sister hotel at the property next door. All minor but a tad annoying when these are things that attract people to stay here. The AC works but not really how it should. The room has a thermostat but regardless of what you set it at it doesn't seem to actually adjust anything other that being on. I mentioned this to the hotel twice and they said they checked into it and it's working so apparently that's their norm. The biggest issue was that there is a train line that runs near the hotel that lightly shakes the building and rattles into your room. The hotel is solid and the rooms are fairly soundproof but the line runs 24/7 and was a bother for someone who sleeps on the lighter side. It's part of being in a city hotel but it's a detail that can't be overlooked.

Everything about this hotel was positive from the nicely furnished room with super comfortable bed, to the amenities-including the chromotherapy shower-to the fantastic breakfast, and mostly the service. All the people at the front desk and dedicated concierges were super friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions, tourist suggestions, and travel suggestions (useful since a train strike was in effect during my stay). The head of the housecleaning department even repaired (sewed) a pair of pants I tore on my visit-talk about going above and beyond the call of duty. The hotel offers its guests a number of freebies that are much appreciated. Besides complimentary cook to order breakfast the hotel offers 3 free walking tours around the city and in room mini bar items-such as water, soft drinks, and beer-are also complimentary. The hotel even has various snacks (cookies, snacks, some food items) offered to guests in the lobby entrance as well as a daily happy hour. One final bonus are the 17th century ruins in the downstairs lounge area. Finally, the location is excellent. Corpo Santo is about a minute walk from Pink Street, 5 minute walk from Time Out Market, and very close to a number of tourist attractions in a less densely populated area than other hotels I looked at as well as a short walk from the water. Very easy for Uber drivers to find the hotel. This was my first visit to Lisbon but if I return I will definitely stay again at Corpo Santo. Muito bom!!

There is AC and there are no screens on the windows (which is typical for European hotels, not a single hotel we stayed at during our trip had one). Others state being pushed to dine in the restaurant but we never got that and the check in associate and her likewise counterparts on other shifts were all very helpful and friendly . The evening guy gladly gave me nice big glasses of ice in a tall crustal glass like I use at home so I could have a room drink while catching up on news (3 times). European hotels do not have ice machines so this is my drill and they were flawless. The hardware was a tad hammered around the room but not a big deal yet the walls and finishes pretty nice and fresh. When you check in it's extremely confusing because the front desk is literally at the counter of the little restaurant. But they handle that well. The restaurant looks very nice but what I saw the food seems mid plus. Pretty enthusiastic service though. If you need an affordable but decent room in the mess of things close to the Alfama and Baixia sites this is a reliable choice. Not the best but worthwhile for sure.

I'd still not sampled the little clams for which Portugal is known though, and when I spotted them on the menu at My Story Ouro I succumbed. I knew this place was for tourists and that I'd likely regret stopping but, throwing caution to the wind, I entered. About My Story Ouro, I'll say this: * I had a ridiculously good time here. A "large" beer was ordered, arriving in a stein that a comic book hero would appreciate. I laughed until I could laugh no more. It was enormous. * The food was good, those little clams and more. * The service was nuts. I was served by so many different people that I had no idea who was responsible for my table and each server also seemed to have the need to go to tables outside, leaving ajar a door which allowed cold air inside. Despite my getting up at least 4 times to shut that door - and my asking every server to shut it directly - they couldn't seem to master this concept. * My choice table along the street-side window was the best place from which to watch the thousands of people go by, making their way to the plaza. And when fireworks from the plaza began, it was easy to run out to the street to watch before returning to my table. I can't say I have anything other than good memories of this place but unless you order a giant beer on a night when there's fireworks, the service levels make me disinclined to recommend it.
