The inn is dog-friendly, which was a huge plus for us. Our pups felt right at home and were clearly welcome. The rooms are comfortable, charming, and full of character with that classic historic feel. A special shoutout to the owner, Matt -- he's such a cool, friendly guy and made us feel like we were staying with a friend rather than at a typical inn. His hospitality really made the difference. This is a no frills, relaxing, get away from tech kind of place. It comes was originally a wagon stop, so lots of history. Don't get me wrong, they do have wifi, though not strong, and a screen you can watch movies on. You have access to the fridge and microwave, though no food is provided. There is a small store across the street, though and Miranda has a couple of lunch / dinner restaurants. It's right in the middle of the Avenue of the Giants, so it made a good place to stay for my trip. Matt, the owner is very nice and welcoming. read more

Myers Inn is an experience maybe not for everyone. We've stayed here several times and it's always been pretty interesting. If you've read other reviews you know that Matt is a single father of 3. The kids have grown up to be very helpful and sweet. The 12 year daughter checked us in (supervised very patiently by her dad) and the son helped us with luggage. The son was also washing cars in the parking lot. The family and guests quite often end up sitting in the lobby and getting to know each other. It's a different experience. The characters in the town are interesting and the coffee place across the street is delicious. The one huge plus to Myers inn is this could be the only place in the Redwoods with AIR-CONDITIONING. What is represented on the sight, both images and words is not what you get. The facility is unkempt with cobwebs and dust. Standing on our balcony we saw an adjacent building looking like it hadn't been used on years, with an old pressure washer to greet us. Hwy 101 is right behind with noise at all hours and there isn't a breakfast as advertised. Matt visited us to point out the flatscreen wasn't working, but that was part of the historical ambience. Surely back in the day (2019) this was a destination, but we couldn't leave early enough the next morning, without having slept much. Our issue with Myers Inn is this: honestly represent what is being offer and allow people to choose wisely. As it is, almost nothing of what is described is present. read more

A lot changes in 7 years! We came to stay again and arrived around 5pm. Check in was at 4pm. Got here and waited for Matt for about a half hour. We texted after about 15 min and didn't get a response. Finally someone came to the door (they were there the whole time). She told us they didn't have any electricity due to a recent fire, which is understandable. As we were waiting my kid ran to the back and I went to grab her. There was trash everywhere! Absolute rubbish! I decided that was it for us! All the signs are there! I'm not sure what the pandemic has done but Meyrs Inn is not what it used to be!! Sadly. read more

First off I would've given it more stars if it weren't for a couple of things. But let me talk about the wonderful things first! Perfect location to see the Avenue of the Giants. I would not have wanted to stay farther south because it's definitely more beautiful in this area with more of the famous points of interest close by than it is say from Benbow. The rooms were super clean and comfortable. Matt, the owner was very friendly and welcoming! The landscaping in the front is so pretty. We enjoyed sitting outside on our chair in the evening. We had wifi and breakfast included which was really nice. One of our two-night stay was a bit uncomfortable only because of the kids that were running around the place for hours. It happened from 6 pm - 10:15 pm on the first night which was kind of annoying. I feel bad because he is a single dad raising his kids alone but on the other hand, when you pay $200/night for a B&B it should be fairly quiet. They are darling kids and so friendly, but we couldn't quite relax that night until after 10. So just be warned that this could happen to you. If you are not a tolerant person, you would not like it. For us, it was disturbing the first night, but the second night they were quiet as a mouse. Also, if you choose to get up early and get going, breakfast really is not served to your table until about 9. Matt makes it to order which is lovely but if you want to get out right away, I'd suggest going south on Avenue of the Giants to Avenue Cafe. It's only about maybe 5 miles or so. What a great breakfast there! Anyway, we did love our stay and we hope others will stay here because it really is a fabulous location and I loved how clean the rooms are! read more

I stayed at this perfect bed & breakfast before going backpacking in the Redwoods the Friday night before Labor Day weekend. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but the rooms and bathroom are clean and it was a calm, quiet respite from the city. This B&B is in the small town of Myers Flat. We stayed in room 8, which is at the top corner of the house (two story house). The inn keepers were friendly (albeit young!) and cooked a delicious breakfast of whole wheat crepes with cream cheese filling topped with bananas, herbed scrambled eggs, and sausage. The town is tiny, so there isn't much to do, but that's exactly what we were looking for. It looks like they are adding a newer addition to the inn. They get 4 stars because prices were quite a bit higher than they should be for such a small, older town. They did let us book for just one night, though. Very friendly people all around. We'd stay here again. read more

A truely nostalgic Inn nestled among the giant redwoods. The room was a good size, comfortable bed . Hot shower, cool getaway in the hottest week in California history! The Inn is in need of some repairs but hats off to Matthew as he is committed to not going into debt to manage them! The inn is family owned for over 100 years! We had the unfortunate experience of staying there starting 7/14/2021. No "full country breakfast" and no silence because the owner kept playing loud music and using noisy power tools outside during the day. Scary place. We had pre-paid the three nights. Left for safety after two. read more

This is a sad review for me to write, because I really wanted this experience to be different. We had stayed at Myers Inn about five years ago, and it was perfect, so booking a night here seemed like a no-brainer. This experience turned out to be something very different. The management of the Inn has passed to the son, who is very nice. He is also a single father of three very small children (boy - 4, girl - 3 and girl 18 months). While this is admirable, the kids have the run of the place, and they (understandably) have no concept of personal space or quiet enjoyment. Myers Flats is a very, very small community, with basically one restaurant and one market. The restaurant (The Groves) was closed for some reason, so we were forced to go over to the market, but deli sandwiches and bring them back to the Inn. The choice of where to eat them was either in the common room of the Inn or sitting on our beds in the room. We chose the common room, which mean the kids were sitting at our table, watching us eat and asking for some. They pretty much did this with all the guests who brought food back to the Inn. I had my 8-year-old daughter with me, and the kids attached themselves to her to play. This would have been fine, except there was no off-button, and no oversight on their behavior. My daughter was injured in the course of this play, and when we said she needed to rest, this was met with the typical preschool resistance. At no time was there parental oversight. The kids stayed up as late as they wished, and we finally just came upstairs, after telling them they could not come up to our room again that night. The next morning, I couldn't pack up and get out of there fast enough. We paid over $200 for one night, and it was the most stressful night I've ever had at a hotel. With the situation of the proprietor being a single dad, I don't see the experience changing any time soon, if ever. I really wish I could recommend staying here, but I cannot. I will never stay here again, and I'm not happy about it. read more

Very quaint Inn/B&B in the middle of the Avenue of the Giants. Not much in Myers Flat, but that was part of the appeal of the Inn. We've stayed at a couple of B&B's, and this one didn't disappoint. Built in 1864 (I think), still had all the charm of the period and over the decades. It was welcoming, clean, and the guests were all very nice. Great place to go to unplug and enjoy some of the most beautiful landscape you'll ever see. read more

We had the very funny experience of being the only guests there - which meant we had to play our part with gusto too. The owner was extremely gracious and the room and the hotel were very clean and well appointed (flat screen in the bedroom!), even if somewhat cluttered and chintzy. At breakfast our gracious old timey host was introducing a new manager to the place and talked freely with her about our breakfasts and preferences without knowing we were in earshot. Ask for a room at the front of the hotel away from the freeway side of things - the hotel room windows were double glazed and had black out shades so it was OK and we were not disturbed by the sound but it would have been nice to be able to sleep with the windows ajar. This was built as an inn and has a lovely wrap around verandah on the second floor and nice views of the forest. I didn't like the closets in the hallways that were used as show cases for antique artifacts and scarey Victorian dollies!!! Go for a drink at the saloon opposite - the natives are very friendly :) read more

This was our first experience at a B&B and it was lovely. The place is spotless and so welcoming, like visiting friends. Our room was so inviting, the porch off of our room was so nice. We sat out on the porch till dark and watched the mist come in over the beautiful trees. The breakfast the next morning of pancakes, eggs, bacon and coffee was great. While our stay was a great experience, it was too brief. We will go again and stay longer.... read more

Not recommended!!! The current inn bears little resemblance to the one pictured on the outdated website. Paid for 3 nights in advance but only stayed 2. The bedroom was fine except for old soap that disintegrated when we opened the packet. Owner gave us a key and cell phone number for emergencies. Spiders in coffee cups next to undrinkable old coffee in pot. Kitchen in disarray with broken dishes on floor. Owner operated loud power tools on shrubbery from 5-8 pm while obviously upset and left loud music going in the inn until we called his cell and asked him to turn it down so we could sleep. We were the only guests but the No Vacancy sign was lit the whole time. Very sad. read more

If you want a kid friendly & pet friendly bed & breakfast, this is it. Matt, the AMAZING proprietor and single dad raising his 3 precious children on the property, is a one-man-show...he greets you and checks you in, makes a great "marine corps" breakfast, and is the chief cook & bottle washer. After you leave he does it all in preparation for the next guests. He is delightfully quirky, and his warm hospitality is very accommodating with the only rule being "no smoking in the house!" Our stay there was unconventional and so much fun. Our room was charming and well-appointed, and we enjoyed sitting on the wrap-around porch in the early evening after our long drive. Later, we spent some time with his two darling daughters on a complete tour of the orchard and beautifully maintained surrounding gardens...our dog so appreciated that! Then, we spent the rest of the evening with the girls playing cards. This is not your run-of-the-mill B & B, so look elsewhere if you don't like kids. Matt's story is heartwarming and the history of the house is so interesting! Another house is in progress on the property and there are plans for converting the existing laundromat to a restaurant...we will be back when that is completed! My church recently had a retreat in the beautiful redwoods of Northern California. I am not really much for camping in a tent and was referred to the Myers Inn by a friend who had stayed there in years previous. I cant say enough about how nice a time I had at the Inn, their manager was extremely gracious and accommodating and made my trip very pleasant. While I was there I was able to explore the beautiful giant redwoods and local shops. I would highly recommend the Myers Inn to anyone looking for a redwood vacation getaway. read more

Wonderful experience and place to stay. Not only did they accommodate our family of four but they were pet friendly too welcoming our two labs. I did not give a five star rating because it was hot in our room which made it difficult to sleep. We had no control over the temperature, not sure if their central air conditioning was working, but we opened all the windows and doors to try and cool down the room. Even so, I would stay there again as all other accommodations were wonderful. Lucky us that we just stumbled upon this place when we needed a place to stay, at the last minute, on our road trip. I absolutely loved the Inn, Matt was available to us very late as we spent a little too long in the Saloon. The rooms were clean and munchies were available ... imperative given the location. I wish I had the chance to meet the children but they were already off to school ... we so wanted to give them a chance to get their picture taken on a Hog and an Indian. We came down to breakfast, after around four hours sleep (reference Saloon above) and was greeted by Matt who cooked eggs, sausage, a waffle and fresh fruit for us!!! We spoke with him for about 30 minutes then it was time to motor on down the road. I'll miss Myers Flat, CA until my visit next year! It may be possible that our party was the first group to visit Myers Inn since 2019 so Matt's hospitality skills are a bit rusty. The price we paid for our rooms was outrageous considering the state of the Inn. The photos on the website do not represent its current condition. The building is in need of repair. The porch in front of the entrance had missing and broken planks. The bedding is very dated and it did not appear to have been washed recently and one had cigarette burns. The carpets are worn and stained. Several of our rooms did not have working smoke detectors including one that only had wires hanging from the wall. There was a vacuum cleaner left in the hallway and a pressure washer on the upstairs veranda. The TVs did not work nor have remotes. The wi-fi did not work. The Website promises a "country breakfast". We were there for the Avenue of the Giants Marathon and race day Matt provided some typical quick breakfast food. The second morning of our stay the "country breakfast" was only the leftovers from the previous day, which had been left on the table since the day before. The coffee pot had not been cleaned from the day before and we had to clean it ourselves and make our own coffee. read more

Love the Myers Inn. The perfect place to stay if you are wanting to see the redwoods. And yes, contrary to another reviewers statement that he rated it lower because it is not smack dab in the middle of the redwood trees as it appears, it really is smack dab in the middle of he redwood trees. Myers Flat is a small town about half way up the Avenue of Giants, and is the best location for visiting the redwoods. About as smack dab in the middle you can get without being actually in a tree! So why 5 stars? Would say this is the perfect location for visiting the redwoods. Perfect because: - Closer than any other lodge to the best parts of the forest. - Clean clean clean! A previous poster spoke to this and I agree completely. - Quaint historic inn. - Breakfast served each morning and cooked to order. - Incredibly nice owners and their kids are adorable. They really make you feel welcome and part of the family. We even had he pleasure of meeting the owner's father and brother while there. - If you like cats (as my wife does), Mr. Kitty will gladly sleep with you, as he did with us both nights (he was kidnapped by my wide but he didn't complain). - Owner also very helpful and knowledgeable about entire area and will steer you right when looking for the best attractions. Yes, it's pricey according to what some say, but you get all the above or the price, well worth the price. If you want cheaper, head down the road. Guarantee you won't like it as much. I cant give an honest review since wew were unable to stay there. We had a reservation, and arrived around 3pm - the CLOSED sign was up, mmmmmm... we went accross the street to the coffee house and they told us the owner was probably out grocery shopping or taking care of his kids. We left a message on the phone and waited a while. No one came ... no return call. So we asked about other options in the area of which the closest was about 45 minutes away. It was getting late and we did not want to sleep in the car! We left the area all together. So even if you have a reservation does not mean you will get in. They finally called back the NEXT day....... REALLY???? I understand the owner is a single dad of three and has a lot going on, but he is nonetheless supposed to be running a business. I would NOT rercommend this place at all .... read more

Kindness deserves a reward! We were on an RV trip 12/21/18 to see the Redwoods and forgot to bring blankets. The temperature was dropping to 32F and I was already sick from 3 nights of sleeping in the cold and asked my husband to buy blankets, but there were no stores near us in Myers Flats. So James went to Myers Inn to ask where the nearest store was and the owner GAVE him a warm cozy blanket...and would not accept any money. For this reason alone I give Myers Inn 10 stars. We stayed here for one night and I wish we would have booked 2. I was nervous staying at a B&B as I cherish my privacy and personal space but owner Matt was so welcoming and kind that it was a non issue. The community is TINY, but lovely. I would actually stay here again, but give it only three stars because A) it is priced about $50 too high for the town/location and B) it looks like it is smack in the middle of the redwood forest but it isn't quite - it is actually just off the exit to 101. The best place for visiting the redwoods. Clean, comfortable, friendly and safe. Matt, the innkeeper, is specially helpful and we are likely to return. Make sure to walk the Pepperwood Grove's Drury-Chaney Trail. It's magical with sorrel covering the ancient forest floor. Not only is Matt mindful of his guests comfort, he also makes a wonderful breakfast! We slept well each night it's so quiet. If you want a real great experience of being in the beautiful California Redwood country be sure to stay here. Matt has a wealth of knowledge about the area. This is really a lovely nice, quiet place to stay. Our room was at the top of the stairs and I was afraid I'd be awakened throughout the night by other guests but that wasn't so. I didn't hear the highway either even though we kept the windows opened a little. We could hear a little noise from the bar across the street but even that died down by 11pm and it wasn't loud to begin with. I don't think the rooms had air conditioning but we had a ceiling fan in our room and since the room's windows open, it was very cool. And the area almost always cools down at night so a/c probably is never needed. It's not like 101 is all that busy so I don't think noise would be an issue from the highway. The room was nice but not my style - kind of like staying at grandma. The room was super, super clean. I always find stuff in hotel rooms that bother me - stray hairs, grimy floors - but I found nothing (nothing!) whatsoever that was out of place or looked like it needed scrubbing. I think every room had it's own bathroom if you're concerned about that. There was a huge flat screen TV mounted on the wall which looked a little out of place at grandma's house but was a nice modern touch. Amazingly, my husband didn't even turn it on! There was wifi but it was sporadic and seemed to go up and down. Probably the providers fault not the inn's. The inn has a wrap around porch on the 2nd floor with seating spaced around. It was really lovely to sit outside and relax. Sadly, we didn't stay for breakfast. We woke up early and wanted to get on the road. I wish we would have stayed. The inn keeper was very nice and I would have liked to stayed and talked to her longer. I didn't give it 5 stars because it was pricey. But it seems like hotels along here are either cheaper, old motels or nice B&B style places like this one. Also, there aren't a lot of food places nearby. We arrived around 6:30pm and the restaurant nearby (The Groves which is supposedly very good) was closed. We were hungry and worried that places might close at 8pm so we felt kind of rushed to get somewhere. There weren't a lot of choices. "A couple miles down the road" was more like 6 to 10 miles.
