I ended up…read morefiling a grievance against them with the Office of the Disciplinary Counsel for incompetence, disloyalty, fraud, misconduct, not communicating, not getting informed consent, unprofessional behavior, and unsupported charges. The firm did not give me vital information in order to make informed decisions, did not consult, failed to evaluate my case properly, didn't have a strategy, did not fight for me, they argued for the defense, they conducted unauthorized and unnecessary work which they charged against my retainer, they always wanted to discuss things on the phone rather than in emails because they would deny and misrepresent facts after these calls. Based on my experience with this firm it was clear to me that all they wanted is the retainer and simply relayed messages between parties, pushed papers and conducted unnecessary work to justify using up the retainer. Once I started to point these things out, their team suggested I find another law firm, hurting my case even further. I contacted one of their partners with my complaints who ignored every single point I made and evidence I provided and refused to adjust the charges. As such, I filed a suit against them. What I did not know before is that I could have filed a fee dispute instead with the Fee Dispute Resolution Auspices of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. I would definitely not recommend working with this firm based on my experience.

Among all the attorneys we worked with, Attorney JP stood out for his genuine compassion, sense of urgency, and willingness to offer an affordable and flexible payment arrangement during a very difficult time in our lives. Attorney JP began our green card process in August 2023. Unfortunately, while the process was ongoing, I made the decision to stop and seek assistance from another lawyer. This new attorney was tasked with handling both our work visa renewal and green card application. We paid a substantial one-time fee for a change of status and were billed three separate times for our work visa renewal. Despite having a signed contract that clearly stated the agreed-upon amount, we were later charged additional fees, as we were told the original payment was insufficient. Our H-1B petition was filed in October 2024 and approved in April 2025, but it was only valid until the following month. During this period, I was pregnant with my sixth child. Because our driver's licenses had expired and we were not legally allowed to drive, we had to rely on the help of others just to meet our basic needs. We waited anxiously for our H-1B renewal approval, enduring a time filled with uncertainty, stress, and emotional hardship. It was one of the most depressing and overwhelming periods of our lives. In desperation, I reached out to Attorney Sarmiento and humbly asked for his help. Despite my earlier decision to leave, he never declined nor turned us away. In April 2025, he immediately took action and processed our H-1B renewal through premium processing, asking only for a minimal payment. Our H-1B renewal was approved in May 2025 and granted a validity of one and a half years. Attorney Sarmiento continued to guide us through every step of the process. Our PERM application was approved in April 2025, followed by our I-140, which was approved in June 2025 through premium processing. He then filed our I-485 adjustment of status applications, along with work permits for my husband and two of our children, in October 2025. These were approved in November 2025, allowing my husband and children to work legally through their Employment Authorization Documents. In January 2026, we finally received our physical green cards. Looking back on all the wrong decisions, hardships, and moments of fear, I can truly say that God is good and faithful. He worked miracles in our lives and sent us Attorney Sarmiento at the moment we needed help the most. Through his dedication, kindness, and integrity, our long and difficult journey finally reached a joyful ending. My family and I will always cherish Attorney Sarmiento and his team. You are an unforgettable part of our journey and our answered prayers. To Attorney JP, Mr. Glen (Atty. JP's Assistant), and the entire team--thank you will never be enough. We are beyond grateful. May God continue to bless your team with strength, wisdom, and many more families to help. More power
