I reinstalled Yelp just so that I could leave a warning review of this place. The man behind the counter was filing his nails when I approached him with my needs and his eye glasses were greasy. When I asked him if he was able to order me a 6"x36" stainless steel shelf for a restaurant kitchen that I'm building out he said they only had 12" shelves. So I proceeded to tell him what I was trying to achieve and asked if he had advice for what I was doing and his only response was "well, who designed the kitchen?" I looked down at the finger nail dust all over his clothes and informed him that he was creepy, before removing myself from this business. I have bought a number of things here over the years. Recently, I bought two patio heaters, about $1400. One stopped working after about ten uses. I know propane.... Worked for a hot air balloon company, have plumbed stoves, ovens, and dryers. I have restored vintage aluminum camping trailers, etc. So, I called them to ask for a new control valve, totally willing to pay for it. They said, "we don't do that, go to Grainger for parts." I said, "Well, how about warranty, it is only a few months old?" They said go to Grainger. Imagine that, full price product and zero support. So. Totally. Unprofessional. I am a hobby cook. I won't be buying 90% of the things they sell at Myers Restaurant Supply because I'm usually cooking for two. I do appreciate the quality equipment they have though and enjoy seeing the quality of their equipment. You can buy stuff like a commercial grade microwave, toaster or blender. Commercial equipment is usually not too attractive - but it's built well. It's a good feeling to go to bed at night knowing that if the next mega earthquake hits, the toaster will be okay. I got a nice pizza cutter, pizza peel and a stone to clean my grill. Everytime I go in there I take my time and look at everything. It's kind of like a museum of restaurant stuff before it gets old. I look at it and think, "Oh... here's where they get that stuff." I'm not sure I want my guests to feel like they are eating at Dennys when they come for dinner though. Out back, they have used restaurant supplies... which I find depressing to see the artifacts of failed businesses. They have some hellacious mixers back there if you want to make your muffins using 50# sacks of flour. You know, making 5 years of muffins at one go. Can't eat them all today? Just put them in the freezer... no problem. Sofie saw a big electric Stella Artois beer sign that she liked. I told her it was not for sale. It was something the guys in the warehouse put up for decoration. I told her I thought it would look lovely in our kitchen to cheer her up. Sofie doesn't like beer - but liking the Stella sign is a good step in the right direction. First the sign, next a mug and then maybe the beer. Sort of ease your way into the good life. People at Myers and friendly. I'm always feeling happy when I go there. read more

But they had exactly what I was looking for and had a very helpful sales pitch once I was checking out. I think the sales people have too many duties. I love this store. It has a great selection of cooking equipment, used and new, commercial/restaurant grade and suitable for home. New items, ranging from spoons, forks, etc., up to large commercial cooking ranges, mixers, etc., is a great selection. When looking for large cooking pots, this is a great place to go, for example. As for used stuff, the selection varies unpredictably, of course, but we have gotten used soup ladles, glasses, bowls, etc. They have milkshake machines, signs, you name it. Prices on used items are usually great. Since it is geared towards commercial customers, one can find a lot of things that one wouldn't normally find at regular cooking items, and a focus on serious cooking rather than frou-frou fancy items. Service varies, but I have had some pretty good service on occasion and the owner is very friendly. read more

The middle aged gentleman in the used section is kind enough but pointed out the sign in the aisle for something that wasn't there on the shelf when asked about a product. Rolled into Myers and was amazed by the selection and service. Not a huge foodie myself but if you are this place is heaven. Free soda and popcorn will keep the kids busy while you get your shop on. I also found the pricing and selection to be outstanding. Commercial grade products also have a higher level of quality than you would typically find at a costco or target. I can't believe that more folks haven't written a review for Myers yet. I have had the absolute worst experience with them on several occasions. I have to reiterate the point from a previous review that their staff is rude and inattentive. Unless you're Guy Fieri, who was also there when I was, and he was given the star treatment and I wasn't given any notice whatsoever. My place of business recently used Myers for kitchen install and they royally messed up pretty much everything. The shelf that was installed came down within 2 hours of the guys leaving. The staff was unprofessional and had no clue how to even install shelves. I was blatantly told that in the 8 years that the guy was doing it, every time they install shelves, they always come down, that's just how it works. Come on, really?! My mom could do a better job putting up shelves. They forgot some shelves as part of the order and it took another few days to get them installed. There were several other issues that blew my mind at how poorly they conducted business. It is infuriating that they just kept coming up with excuses instead of problem solving when we brought up our dissatisfaction. The sales man does a great job of selling equipment and making it seem like they are really professional in the beginning, only to switch it up on you in the end and give you shoddy equipment and workmanship and very poor customer service. The moment I walked into this store I received excellent customer service from each person. I came in for a coffee carafe and Rick helped me...so many to pick from. I walked about the store checking out all the amazing things they sale and stumbled upon a tool that I had no idea what it was used for...Alicia asked me if I needed any help and answered the question and another question I had about a local restaurant a friend had told me about...(I'm not from Santa Rosa). She went above and beyond and actually printed the info for me to take in the car with me. Now that is customer service. I will be shopping here again and I will tell all my friends about this store. I have been going to Myers for a couple years now. I started back to school at the SRJC any thing need I Myers is my go to it place. Everyone that works there they always greet me with a smile. If they dont have what you need they will really try to find it. If they dont carry it or cant get it in they will let you know where to go to find it. Worst customer service. No eye contact by anyone. All I needed was one thing but I was ignored for 20 minutes. I stood in line and got bumped by "industry people" twice, instead of just purchasing my one item. I get it, I'm not a restaurant owner , but I am still a customer. As a small business owner and manufacturer of fresh foods for the public my company is dependent on reliable equipment, and often it comes at a very high price so we consider reliable used equipment from a trusted source. It is a gamble when you buy from an individual or a cclosing/struggling business due to lack of maintaining or service so I like many other like businesses turn to flag ship stores like Meyers and are often referred by the store to their used equipment inventory. In my specific case, we were looking for a commercial refrigerator after our current unit was in constant need of repair so I visited Meyers to peruse for a replacement. When confronted with the staggering prices my sales representative advised I talk to their used equipment manager to see if he had something suitable in their inventory. I quickly went to the back lot and true to form Scott showed me a few units, and one particular unit caught my eye. This unit was a Traulsen, a reliable brand and the unit looked clean. When I inquired about the history, Scott told me it was a "consigned" unit from a loyal long term customer who returned it recently after owning it for 6 months because it was too small for their needs. I asked him for a discount and he told me that he had to check with the owner of the unit and would let me know. After about a week, I called Scott back after not hearing from him and he informed me he could offer a smaller discount because the customer needed to get as much of their money back as possible for such a pricey recent acquisition. I then asked if I could put down a down payment and then pay the balance on delivery to which he agreed. A few weeks later, i took delivery and the delivery team wanted to leave the refrigerator on our sidewalk because they were not paid to bring it in the shop. I told them this was absurd, and we would not stand for it. Eventually, they brought it in the shop and we set it up for operation. The refrigerator turned on, and we began to stock it with produce when the kitchen manager realized there was no key for the door locks. I called Meyers and asked Scott if he had one on hand, and he responded no, but he could order me one. I said no worries, I would call Traulsen and cut out the middle man. While on the phone with Traulsen, the representative asked me for the serial number to find the appropriate key for my unit and during my conversation, he said: " Oh, you have one of the old units". It didn't register at first, but it lingered in my head for a minute. I ordered the key, and perplexed by his comment I called back and inquired about his comment, which I was informed it was an old model. I asked how old, he said I can tell you the day it was manufactured if you like..I, of course, said yes. My refrigerator that was sold under the solicitation of it being consigned and 6 months old was actually manufactured in 1992, 25 years old..and I was deceived and lied to by what I trusted to be a reputable and honest business in our small community. I immediately hopped in my car and drove to Meyers to confront the source. Scott, when asked to reiterate the story he told me about this unit simply said if you don't want it we will give you your money back. I said it is more than getting my money back as I had removed our old unit and was now dependent on running my business on this unit and missed opportunities for other deals. When he told me to not walk too close to him I was startled, until he then pushed me physically. I walked out and called the police who took an incident report but refused to pursue assault charges. I left the property and was dumbfounded by the experience. I called counsel and then my back to stop payment on the check I had written for the balance of the fridge. I called the General Manager that day, which was a Friday, and they were unavailable unitl Monday. I waited for his call as I didn't want to escalate the issue for a small business as a courtesy. When he repeated the words of Scott, to take it back and give me my money and let that be the end, I was insulted again. I told him that his offer was unacceptable, I wanted what I was offered in way of a 6-month-old refrigerator at the price we agreed. To date, 6 months later...nothing. I waited to write this as it has really haunted me that business disguised as service and community driven operate in this fashion, at a minimum I feel I can warn the unsuspecting like myself as a gesture to other consumers who might find themselves in my shoes. I hate doing this as business is hard enough, but this is no way to treat anyone, ever! read more

The staff here sucks, at least the young lady who didn't take care of us sucked. We showed up on a Saturday at 3, not knowing they closed at 3 (we got jammed up on the way to Santa Rosa). We were there EXACTLY at 3 and the door was still slightly open because there was another customer in the store paying for whatever it was he got. Both myself and my friend knew exactly what we needed and would have been out within a couple of minutes. I asked if they were totally shut down for the day (they hadn't even run their daily sales report because the register was still being used...) and all she did was say "yes" and pushed the doors closed on our faces! Never thought about asking if we would be quick. Never thought about the revenue for the business. Just shut the door on us and walked back to the counter. I will buy my stuff online from here on out rather than go to Meyers... The do have a great selection of supplies, but with service like that, no thanks. read more
