I was an optometrist medical client at MyEyeDr at 22 University Dr, Amherst, MA 01002. I went there right when they took over Dr Wadman's optometrist office which I went to for over 10 years - & I was assigned the male optometrist there (I do NOT recommend him, I've heard okay things about the woman though), after I'd called ahead several days before to make sure I had enough for the the contact lens fee secured, I was there on time at the date of my appointment. After a 45 min wait for my appointment I was seen, because they were running late - it happens, sure - but then without prior warning I was denied the contact lens exam to get my contact lens prescription. That was why I went there. I was able to pay for its cost in addition to the glasses exam covered by my masshealth health insurance. The male optometrist, who I was meeting for the first time, cited that a lack of previous years of having any relationship with me as his patient (after his practice kicked out my last doctor so how could I even have that?!) meant he couldn't trust me, a 30+ year old adult, with having a contact lens prescription and he would be liable. He refused to give it to me even though he told me that he knew what the prescription I needed was. He decided he wouldn't, was aggressively smug about his decision for the remaining 20 mins of our appt during which I begged him to change his mind during the remainder of my eye exam. By the time I left I was practically in tears from how he spoke to me. I left a review on another platform, and they deleted it because I do not wish to share my legal name. DO NOT go here if you want contact lenses - only go to get a prescription for glasses. If they guarantee you anything more, they are possibly lying to you like they lied to me. I was hugely let down when I wanted and expected I could get a prescription for contact lenses here. After they denied me care, I was unable to afford a new eye exam's full cost myself elsewhere, so I couldn't get contact lenses with the eye exam covered by my insurance for another 2 years (the doctor knew this about me, which is why he was able to talk to me like that and act so smug knowing he'd face no ramifications) until MassHealth could cover a new one again for me, at a new/better optometrist than at MyEyeDr in Amherst, or any MyEyeDr I imagine, where in my experience they refuse to give out contact lens prescriptions when they are paid for that exact service. PLEASE don't make the mistake I made and expect both the truth and also the care you would normally get from optometrists from them. I will never go back to the building that doctor denied me care in, my experience was too negative for me to try to set foot in there again. read more

I went for my appointment and the receptionist told me that I signed up for a remote visit with the Dr. I did not, to my knowledge. Now I have a new appointment for a week from now but after this I will go elsewhere. read more

Location for Amherst Massachusetts Not happy with the service or the guy that did my eye exam. I asked only for a contact fitting and got charged for glasses as well. I wanted to learn more about contacts and he shut me down and told me to keep using the ones I have been using. Receptionist behind the counter is not nice and could benefit from a customer service course. I will not be going back. read more

This review is long overdue! On May 9, 2025 I stopped by MyEyeDr on University Drive to see if they would fix one of the plastic nose pads on my eyeglasses. I bought the eyeglasses at this store many years ago, and the nose pad had only recently fallen off. I offered to pay for the repair because even though the eyeglasses are old they are still my favorite pair. Elyssa, the store's General Manager, wouldn't hear of it! She not only put two new plastic nose pads on my glasses, she tightened the arms and aligned them on my face. She then cleaned the glasses for me. I again offered to pay something for the on-the-spot service, but she said no need. I walked out of the store feeling both grateful for her attentive care and pleased with the "tune-up" of my old eyeglasses. Thank you to Elyssa! read more

I have been here twice, 3 years apart. My first visit was okay, but there was a pushy and rude salesman. My second visit was better at first, great doctor and great medical assistant. But then while I was waiting in the waiting room with my two toddlers for my husband's appointment to finish, I saw and heard the staff talking about me nursing my baby, and then manager came over and gave me a hard time about breastfeeding my hungry child. Nursing is legal everywhere mothers and babies are allowed to be and should not be discriminated against by staff. read more

I've always had a great experience here. The doctor's are helpful, patient, and friendly. The exam itself is quick and they seem to have all the modern equipment you'd hope for. The only quibble is how hard it is to make an appointment - the website only books 1 month out and you can't just ask for the next available... you have to try every day and then be told that there are no slots (rinse repeat). Just skip the site and make an appointment by calling their office. Otherwise, this place is great. read more

Had my appointment and ordered glasses, received a text that my order was ready and drove 30 minutes to the office only to find out it was closed without notice or a reopening date. I wasn't the only one let down as patients were showing up and apparently weren't notified they were closed (not cool). The sign said to call the Northhampton office for help, which I did. They had no clue what was going on. It isn't clear when the office will reopen or how I will get my glasses- ever. Totally uncool way to treat customers . Even called their main number and corporate headquarters had no idea what was going on. I'd recommend looking elsewhere for an eye doctor for more reliable service. read more

When I went in person, the receptionist told me I had signed up for a remote visit with the optometrist and because the doctor was remote it would be $44 more for a test that they couldn't run because they weren't in person. I said I didn't recall selecting this option and was never informed after getting the appointment confirmation that it was in person with a remote doctor that was more expensive, which felt really sketchy to me. The male receptionist repeatedly said "it's not my fault you can't read!" As he said there's a checkbox everyone is forced to check to move forward when signing up for an appointment that tells you the appointment is remote. I went back and looked, yes it does tell you that, but not in a way that is obvious, it's just a pop up box of boring Jargon that no one has the time to read. Then in the 15 confirmation emails and texts there's no mention at all of the remote televisit and extra costs. I asked what they couldn't make that more clear only and the receptionists collectively said, again, it's my fault that I can't read. So I left and will never go back. I don't deserve that kind of disrespectful behavior when I didn't even understand what I had signed up for and it was not obvious at all. Shame on you MyEyeDr for this sketchy new enrollment system and your receptionists for not being more understanding. read more

Bought two sets of glasses. Paid the bill ( in full) upon ordering. The following week we received a bill for $90 in the mail. After calling their corporate office, they told us that the bill we paid was only an "estimate" even though we were told by the optician that we were paid in full, also, the receipt does not state that it was just an estimate. Deceptive business practice to say the least. read more

Made an appointment 6 weeks ago. Four days before the appointment (and long after running out of my contacts) they called to say they had a "system error" and would not be able to see me for another 6 weeks. I asked how I am supposed to get the contacts I need to see and they said they would not be able to give me any to hold me over until the next appointment because the prescription would be expired (thanks to them!). Unbelievable. Stay away from this place. read more
