This is a hidden gem in Placerville. The precious Somm refer me to come here as he mentioned they have good reds here. The wines I tasted was good, but the thing was they have food here. I had the duck confit nachos and the spinach salad. Both dishes were surprisingly delicious for a winery kitchen. Beautiful tasting room but small. Outside patio and view of the lake is amazing. Stacey was personable and knowledgeable. She also invited me back for future events. Definitely a good stop for tasting and eating if visiting Placerville.

My partner and I stumbled upon this place on a rainy Sunday afternoon. We were only expecting some tasty wines and a light snack. What we were not expecting was the amazing hospitality, camaraderie, and laughter. We brought our 2 labs. If you have dogs, definitely bring them and pull up a seat on the deck. Everyone who walked in was from the local community, and wanted to pet and chat. So many friendly folks. It was a such a warm, welcoming feel for us out-of-towners. We originally started with our two wine flights. Then ventured off into tasting other wines. We originally started with the hummus pairing. Then decided to hang out longer because we were having such a good time. We also got the hearty sausage and cheese board, and the light and healthy spinach salad. We ended up buying 2 bottles of the 2020 Malbec from Saureel Vineyard and a bottle of the 2023 Pinot Noir from Indian Rock Vineyards. Totally drinkable wines on their own. Perfect after a long day of work and just need to unwind. Tbh, many of the wines and much of the food pairings were good. But the community and the staff made the difference - the entire experience felt like hanging out with your bestie, and laughing and connecting. It was so much fun. We're definitely coming back, especially since they have so many events. Shout out to Emily, who served us. Thank you for showing us a great time! We can't wait to come back!

Cranberry, Brie and rosemary boule Fabulous!! Great presentation and our server Emily was spectacular!!

Cranberry, Brie and Rosemary stuffed boule at Myka was fantastic!! Presentation and our server Emily were spectacular!!!

Nice and quiet garden to enjoy the sunshine

We decided to try this winery and visit during lunch. We had Emily serving us and she was very pleasant and explained how the winery was started. Great communication. We had the 4 course lunch with wine pairings. What an adventure with different tastes. Hats off to the chef and the wines they paired with the food courses were awesome. Definitely will be going back. Thanks Mika Estates for a wonderful experience

Beware the road construction that is currently going on. It's a bit tricky to get here while the main entrance's road is torn up.

Such a great place to go to! I had no idea Apple Hill had wineries. A friend purchased a private event dinner and wine pairing package so our group got to enjoy hearing about the winery and their wines while having the place to ourselves. I can't believe I don't remember our hostess' name because she was incredible! She was lively, knowledgeable about the wines and how the winery was operated and she had a lot of good stories to tell. Lisa, the chef, was also amazing! The four course meal was perfection and the wine paired perfectly with each dish. I was also surprised with how good the wine was. We left with eight bottles. I highly recommend going to Myka's and drink some wine and eat Lisa's food. When I have out of town guests, I will be taking them here.

Small but lovely Myka

Small but lovely Mika was staffed by helpful folks and offered tasty pairings with their food friendly wines. We sat on a shaded deck overlooking their manicured gardens and sipped delicious Nebbiolo paired with a chicken cordon bleu sandwich on fresh brioche made by their in-house culinarian.

With a wood-fired pizza oven perfect for hosting special occasions, guests can enjoy the rustic charm while savoring a glass of their finest wines and ciders. Convenient amenities such as outdoor seating and a cozy indoor area provide the perfect setting for any wine lover to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Upon my frequent visits to this winery, I've found my collection of glassware growing steadily, thanks to the complimentary tasting glasses provided with each visit. Rather than simply accumulating more glassware, I now find myself yearning for a gesture of appreciation for my loyalty, such as having my flight tasting fee waived as a token of recognition. While the prices of their wines may be slightly higher compared to neighboring establishments, the option to trade bottles in exchange for a discount has significantly influenced my decision-making process. Without this option, I may have been tempted to explore other wineries in search of a new favorite spot. Overall, this winery's welcoming staff and unique offerings make it a standout destination in the region. *I did notice, however, that the red wine I sampled at the winery seemed more developed than the bottle I later purchased. **As you pull into the parking lot, you notice a lone portapotty standing in the corner. The sun beats down on its blue exterior, tempting you with the promise of quick relief. But as you weigh your options, a thought niggles in the back of your mind - a flushable toilet awaits at the bottom of the hill. Will you brave the descent for a more luxurious experience, or opt for the convenience of the trusty portapotty?

Hwy 50 Brewery has live music on weekends, so Nello Olivo stays open later to match their hours. 8 PM on Fridays & Saturdays and 7 PM on Sundays!!! I don't have to leave Apple Hill around 5 or 6 PM anymore. What a wonderful and inviting place to do a wine tasting! I received such gracious service from Mark and another male bartender. I was allowed several free sample sips before deciding what to order. If you want a proper tasting flight with a tray of 5 wine glasses (filled with 2 ounces or about an inch up the wine glass?), it costs $25 if you want to sit and drink at a table and only $15 if you are willing to stand and taste at the bar, assuming the bar isn't too busy. A glass of wine is $10 and a glass of premium wine is $20, as of 7/29/2023. There is also a Yelp check-in offer for a $15 flight of 5 wines. Mark recommended the 2020 PRIMITIVO, which is his favorite and ended up being my favorite. Smooth. The MALBEC was my 2nd favorite for its flavor. I also tried the Sangiovese, Barbera, Sinfonia, Chardonnay, and Cali Mojo. Kept on tap, the Cali Mojo tasting was ample and was served over ice cubes. So refreshingly sweet, fruity, and bubbly that I ended up ordering it! I was slow to realize you could order the CALI MOJO in colorful cans to take home. I should have done that. It's a lovely wine spritzer or wine soda. You can purchase snacks to go with your tasting. I forgot to take a look at the charcuterie offerings in a fridge, but the sweet treats are only 2 for $1. These include individually wrapped Ferrero Rocher, Madeleine cookies, and brownie bites. Very reasonably priced and thoughtful. You could also buy food from Hwy 50 Brewery next door (i.e., pizza, hot dogs, tacos, salad, fries), and you're welcome to wander, sit, drink, and listen to live music over there. Nello Olivo also sells attractive and affordable gifts. A cute blanket with cats or a pretty swimsuit or beach cover-up costs $20-$25. $6 bracelets. $8 dangling earrings. Nello Olivo is conveniently located less than 2 miles away from Boa Vista Orchards on Carson Road. I didn't realize Camino was that close. The parking lot is quite large and long, but I imagine it could get full if it's packed. Nello Olivo is in a plaza within walking distance of several other wine tasting rooms and restaurants. Do your fun wine tasting here!

It slightly diminished the overall poshness of the experience, as we would have loved something beyond charcuterie while enjoying the wine. That said, we still had a wonderful time--and even became members--so that says a lot. I do hope they expand their food options in the future.
