We've traveled to Savannah for 18 years now and have logged somewhere around 8 months of tourist time. The rooftop bar scene grew nicely in the past decade. While most of the rooftops are regularly accessible to the public, there's something about Myrtle & Rose which has caused it to elude us. Often, it has been closed for a private party, or perhaps it was full. In any case, we finally were carded and sent up the elevator with the slightly aggressive doors. Yes, they close fast. Keep a move on! We were offered a table overlooking the river and served by Will. My wife enjoyed her Amber Hour, and I an old fashioned. I suppose they don't want us getting tipsy and falling off, since my drink may have had 2 or 3 ounces. A good little taste, but not for long for this Wisconsin boy. Let's not go down the road of it being a "real" old fashioned -- I know and enjoy both kinds. (You must when you also own a distillery.) The two shining points of the evening were the view and our server. This spot offers a nice, close-up view of the river from both directions -- perfect for the occasional ships passing in the night. Our server, Will, was very professional, attentive, and thoughtful. By the end of the 50° night, Will had brought a blanket for my wife. While we can handle below-zero temps at home, there's something about 50° on vacation that gives us the shivers. Perhaps it was the dress -- I'm not sure, since I wasn't the one wearing it tonight. The whole place was beautifully decorated every corner felt cozy, cheerful, and perfect for the season. One of the highlights for me was their hot chocolate, it was honestly so good, rich, and comforting, exactly what you want during the holidays. On top of that, getting a Stella beer cup with my name engraved was such a cool and unique touch. It made the experience feel even more special and personal. A group of 8 of us are traveling to Savannah for a 30th birthday trip. We recognize 8 is a large party, so we wanted to get ahead of things & make reservations. We originally booked this restaurant for Friday, but upon finalizing our plans Thursday worked better so we switched it. A few days later they reached out to me & said they were closed for a private event on the day we made our reservation. I asked if they'd be able to accommodate our group on Friday then since that was when we originally booked & changed it without knowing they were closed & now there were none available to make on Friday or Saturday either. It was their mistake for taking reservations on a day they wouldn't be open to the public & while they did offer up two times to get us in, they were in the middle of the day & late at night which didn't work for our schedule. When I asked if there was something else, they stopped responding. Very disappointing customer service. read more

So this was going to be a three star review but a Sunday afternoon redeemed itself. Went (or attempted to) Friday at 11pm. Closed. Hotel website states midnight was closing. Went at 10pm Sat night and while drinks were decent, there was nothing special. Sitting along the rail at the edge of the rooftop was nice, even though it was dark so there wasn't a ton to see. Sunday afternoon was literally a night and day difference. Lovely, engaging, both employees and patrons. Awesome view and the specific brunch drink cocktails were outstanding. Our server was 5 stars, as pleasant and kind as could be. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was for the weirdness in getting sat. We came at 3pm on a Saturday and were at first told we couldn't sit outside unless we wanted to eat - which is fine as we wanted a snack but we have been here before and that wasn't a rule, not sure if that is a permanent thing so something to keep in mind. The host did mention that we would have to order from the brunch menu, but what was not clear is that meant you had to order the $38 per person brunch package. I also thought it was a tad odd that 3pm is still brunch range. Thankfully our waitress let my wife and I split a brunch (not sure if that is typical or not but thankful she did). The brunch starter plate had a mini cinnamon roll, some fruit, a couple of pieces of cheese and meat and we enjoyed. On the entree portion you can pick from a few items and we had the tuna tostada which was pretty large and worked great for sharing. The final course is a few mini cakes that we dug into before I could remember to take a picture, with key lime pie and pecan pie among them. This was a great brunch during the holidays. There was a nice cold breeze that was overlooking the river and had a great view of the city. We went ahead with the bottomless options with our meal and the drinks were flowing. Service was quick and we hardly waited to get the food and drinks, promptly. What a find, that lives up to the hype! Now, I'll be honest, it's hotter than the devil's butt crack on that rooftop in July, so do not think you can handle the blinding, nuclear sun rays for a second. Make a reservation and request INSIDE. Food was bomb! They have a set menu kinda for $38 a person. You get a charcuterie board, you pick from about 6/8 entrees and you get a dessert tower. We opted for the shrimp and grits, short ribs, chicken and French toast. Everything was delicious, well seasoned and perfectly portioned. We would definitely come back during the fall or spring to enjoy the view and shops along the river. Overall the vibes were great! It is a rooftop bar so be prepared that in the summertime it's hot / it's Savannah! The brunch menu is pri fixe so you pay one price and get a charcuterie to share, an entree of your choice and a dessert tower. This was where I was slightly disappointed. The charcuterie was pretty small for a group of five and it reminded me of items you'd buy in bulk from Costco. UP ON THE ROOFTOP HOLIDAY POP UP EVENT I made a reservation for the Myrtle & Rose Rooftop Bar 2 weeks before our visit on 11/29. I intentionally made this reservation to watch the Savannah River Holiday Boat Parade and made a note on the reservation as well. When we arrived the entrance was very nicely decorated on the first floor near the elevator, as well as leading up to the bar area itself. The rooftop area was also very nicely decorated and they had a live musician playing this evening as well. When we entered near the hostess stand I could immediately tell all of the staff were very frazzled. From the bar staff to the wait staff frantically running past, to the look on the faces of all three hostesses standing at the station. It's like no one was prepared at all! I checked in for our reservation and the hostess showed us to the outdoor seating area. She initially showed us to a couch area towards the back, the furthest away from the river view area. I called her out and said that I'd requested a river view so my family and I could watch the parade. Instead of leading with customer service, she argued with me said she didn't see the note and proceeded to put our menus down. I picked up the menu's and walked over to one of the open of the tables facing the river and said, we'll just sit here and proceeded to sit down. Even though it was a 4-top table, they made accommodations for 5 of us. I also asked where the heat lamps where as the website indicated there would be heating elements for cold nights. This particular night it was very cold and windy. She said the only heating elements were in one of the two $500 min spend areas that had fire pits and ZERO view of the river or the entire rooftop area. If I was a guest that paid to not only reserve these areas with a reservation fee AND a $500 min spend with no view, I would be pissed! The evening continued with a very nice but very inexperienced waitress. We all ordered drinks and one appetizer to share. Mostly because I could already tell how the evening was going to go - we didn't want to order too many things. The food came out surprisingly fast - at least 20 minutes before any of our drinks came. Not even waters were offered. Even though the weather was very cold, the hot appetizer we ordered was served cold. When the drinks finally arrived, you could tell they were either short on supplies or they were purposely limiting the amount of product they were serving. You can see in the photo there was a lot of liquid missing from all of the drinks. For $18-20 per drink, I expect the already small glasses to be full to the top. The hot chocolate drinks were hot but my drink, the mulled wine was barely warm. Instead of waiting for our waitress to return, I walked my drink to the bar where the waitress was and told her not to bring it back to me unless it was hot enough to burn me. It was freezing cold on a rooftop bar with ZERO heaters (as promised on their website). I wanted a hot drink. Another drink was brought to me almost 15 minutes later. About half way through our experience, we were told that each of the table areas were supposed to have a complimentary blanket. Apparently the other tables that arrived earlier took it upon themselves to take other people's blankets so our waitress had to go "find" another one for us to use. Once the boat parade was over, we had to almost chase her down to pay for the tab as she didn't return after dropping off a second drink for my husband. Overall, this was an amateur experience by a rooftop bar that has been around for some time. Beyond unacceptable! For our drinks and one appetizer, the bill was $200. This experience was absolutely not worth it and I know of several other holiday bar experiences in Savannah that I'm sure you would receive better service and drinks from. 0/10 recommend! read more

I went to this place twice in one week. Once during the day and once at night. Both were great experiences. The views are great day or night. The day time visit we went for a light lunch and a drink. We had two appetizers, and two drinks. The boa buns and the pear/prosciutto appetizer were delicious. Also, they were just the right size for two people to share. The drinks were cold, and they regularly filled our water. At night we got drinks at the bar and stood near the edge overlooking the river/bridge. Even on a busy night, the bar tender was friendly and efficient. Beautiful space for drinks and apps. The roof has many large seating areas for large parties...think couches and comfy chairs. Stopped in for a Christmas day snack, this roof top eatery did not disappoint. Reservations are highly recommended as seating is limited on this small rooftop bar. A great vantage point to take in the views of the river are had here as well. Up the elevator, its only stop is to the restaurant and its only accessible via the elevator. Once there a short walk across the breezeway to this hideout. We were greeted by the hostess walking in and seated all in the same moment. The early evening of out visit, the menu was specific for the holiday, tapas and small shareable plates. We ordered a variety of items off the menu, starting with blistered Shishito pepper and red lentil Hummus, both very tasty and delicious, the pepper sweet and little to no heat, the hummus fresh and full flavored. Next, the mushroom toast, a small serving of three pieces but very good, mushrooms with parmesan and ricotta and a nice balsamic reduction drizzle. Then the Octopus, a nice serving of grilled octopus with spanish chorizo and crispy potato with a pimenton citrus dressing. Another tasty dish thats easily shareable, a good flavor combination that added a nice variation to our meal. For me, I was so confused by my partridge in a pear tree drink. They made it right and got me a different drink, but it tasted nothing like pear whatsoever, even though there was pear liqueur in it. It tasted like lemon and they gave me a lemon twist instead of a dehydrated pear. So I thought maybe they gave me the wrong drink, but apparently that was the correct one. The bourbon drink was better. The ambiance was lovely and the seating for groups is super cute. I actually felt it wasn't Christmasy enough for a "pop up." It was pretty much just the regular bar but with some light decorations which, you'd expect anyways for the holiday. I didn't like that we had a reservation at 3pm and about 30 of us were standing outside waiting to get in. They didn't seem prepared for us and they were opening up boxes etc. The bao was to die for and my pear dessert was excellent but the pears could have been more cooked. Should've known when the elevator had a 6 person limit. Party of 12 - sat us at two all patio tables and one sofa fully in the sun. We are 12 women here for a bachelorette. We couldn't move the tables together because of "fire code" so our large party was essentially 2 separate groups. Waiter was not able to move the umbrella to cover our sofa and wasn't willing to find somebody who could. The 63 year old woman in our party had to move our umbrella to get us in the shade. The folllwing portion isn't meant to be a dig at the waiter, just a reflection of the waitstaff training. Took 3 peoples order then said "anything else?" as if there weren't 9 people left. He took all 12 peoples orders and then came back and had to retake it and had to have us raise our hands to see who ordered what. Honestly the food was good. Could've cut the chicken sausage in the fried rice. Last bottomless mimosa pitcher was pure orange juice. The crab Benedict had a black tiny hair in it. Honestly avoid this place unless you have a party of 2. Moral of the review is that they truly cannot accommodate such a large party. I wish they would rethink accepting those large reservations rather than accepting them to get money and leaving a bad taste in the customers mouth. This Christmas Pop Up experience at Myrtle & Rose Rooftop Bar was not worth the time or expense. I feel the service was amateurish, the drinks watered down and the food distasteful. The fact that the service was so unorganized made me wonder about the management's capabilities at all. This reservation required minimum purchase of $500.00. The experience was terrible. Let me explain - 1. Upon arriving we should have been met with a special hot chocolate and fireside seating. The hot chocolate was not served for over 45 minutes and it was cold and a watery "Swiss miss" without any real chocolate taste. The fireside gas fire was not lit until 30 minutes after seating and required my persistent request to light the gas. Unacceptable 2. The food. We ordered multiple dishes of which the Korean buns and borate dishes were good. The scallops were not cooked long enough and very fishy causing stomach distress after dinner. The wrapped pear dish was overcooked and so hard it could barely be cut with a knife. No serving plates were provided because apparently there were no clean dishes. So the food could not be shared but consumed off the main plate. Unacceptable. 3. Drinks. We ordered a bottle of champagne but were told after waiting 30 minutes more that the wine was warm and needed to be chilled. This is unacceptable because that process requires two to three hours so we cancelled the bottle and ordered a glass of prosecco. When the wine was served it was obviously old and taste like vinegar. When we commented the manager said that wasn't possible because the wine came from a "tap." This is concerning because authentic Prosecco cannot be served from a tap, as law dictates it must be sold exclusively in traditional glass bottles. Sparkling wines served on tap are either not authentic Prosecco or fake. So we were charged for a cheap imitation. 4. The bill. The $500 bill included an additional 18% gratuity. This $90 dollars is outrageous. This was not included in the terms and conditions. When I asked our served if this could be removed and I could tip her individually I was told no. read more

We booked brunch here to kick off our St. Patrick's Day trip to Savannah. Reservations were made months in advance. It was raining the day of our reservation. But I was surprised to receive calls asking if I wanted to cancel our reservation. I attempted to return the call but no one answered the phone. Once we made it to town, half of our group went to the restaurant to see if we could be seated. They were able to find us a nice table inside the restaurant near the bar! They only have small plates, the plate was 2.5/5 nice crunch, but the flavor was lacking, and for 16.00, I needed flavor and / or quantity, and they had neither. The drink was 2.5/5 rather weak on the alcohol and light on flavor as well. I wouldn't come back as there are so many options in the area. We decided to take a trip to Savannah for the 4th and because it was last minute we were trying to find a place where we could view the fireworks. Almost every place was booked and Myrtle and Rose had one more reservation opened for 7:30 outside, so I booked immediately. Upon arriving, checking reservations and IDs was smooth. We got a complimentary drink/shot which was so nice and free merch. I think I chose a Jim beam drink with peach and mango in it (can't remember the name). We got seated and we had the perfect seat to view the fireworks. We had to use the bathroom so we both left and when we got back another couple was sitting at our table. We don't know what happened but they must have looked at the seating chart wrong or didn't mark it. Now I would have made a huge deal about it and it would have caused my rating to go down, but the staff was so quick to rectify the situation, it made it better. The manager got us a free drink and got my Jim beam merch for me (I got some cool glasses and a t shirt). Then they were able to find us a table which was still perfect view of the fireworks. We ordered our food and enjoyed the show. We ordered the oysters, mussels, pork belly steam buns, shrimp, brussel sprouts, beef tartare, sea scallops and I got the chocolate raspberry tart to finish off. We ordered a lot of food, but let me just say, the menu is pretty random for the vibe of river street in my opinion lol but it was amazing. Everything had such good flavor, texture, the seafood wasn't fishy, tasted fresh. The tartare tasted so good with the bread they provide with it, I just didn't like the shallots cuz I don't like onions much. For the tart, I would have preferred a chocolate tart with maybe raspberry couli on top but it was a little too tart with it having raspberry filling. The rose merengue was delicious though and so creamy. Despite the incident we encountered, I'd give our experience a 9/10. I would definitely go back. The staff was top tier as well. read more

Rooftop was crowded so we were seated across from the bar in an area that would normally be open-air, but inclimate weather kept the roll-ups down. My Berry Bloom Mule was pretty good, and my guests enjoyed their drinks as well. Sitting inside is a bit of a buzzkill, but Mother Nature and crowds rule the day. It was the Christmas themed event for my visit, which was very festive and cute. Their small menu was completely different specifically for this event. The small plate options were just that.. very, very small. Not practical for sharing for my group of six. The Korean bao buns were delicious but a little salty. My hot chocolate was wonderful for a chilly brunch. Our waiter was wonderful and the service was great. My only wish is that we would have gone at night and for the weather to have been warmer. read more
