They also sell kinetic sand, Magna-Tiles, magic water marbles, building blocks, floor puzzles, board games, educational DVDs and CDs ... I could go on, but then this review would just be a list of every cool plaything that's out there. But they don't just sell toys here. This place is also a school supply store and place for teachers to buy items for their classrooms, including banners, posters and things for classroom organization. There's also a space in the back of the store just for laminating. The prices are comparable to other brick-and-mortar stores, and you might be able to find some of their products cheaper online, however, I can't think of a place in the area that has this much selection, where you can actually see the toys and products and -- in many cases -- play with them. Which brings me to another reason why I love Lakeshore: They have stations throughout the store set up with different toys and games for the kids to play with. It's so fun! (Well, it's fun for kids; it's not so fun for the adults who have to pry the kids away from the store.) On Saturdays and Sundays, they offer drop-in art workshops for kids for free. But did you know they host a smaller version in December, which just so happens to (smartly) fall on First Friday? The one in June can be very hot and very crowded, so I preferred the wintertime version, although there were not as many vendors. The crowd favorites were still there, like Newfangled Confections, Homespun, Crimson Tate, Farizula Designs, Silver Linings Jewelry, Hoosier Proud, USI, Revival Food Co...the list goes on. The selection was gigantic- clothing, actual bugs, jewelry, art... even a mobile yarn shop? There was definitely something for everyone. I love looking at all the new fun art and awesome unique gifts! It's so nice to see so many local artists and their work. They have some really nice pieces, some expensive, but I feel like they have things that would fit in a price point for everyone. I found some really nice note cards of the angel paintings I always admire and they even had a set of Carmel paintings. I adore seeing Nancy Keating's mosaic work here! She's so creative and I love the ice buckets! I am pretty sure I will be getting one for my husband for Christmas this year. It's just so fun and love the local touches on it!
