This private boat cruise was supposed to be the highlight of our trip and IT WAS. It was exactly what we needed on our last day in Mystic. We had beautiful weather.. The "Novelty" boat was beautiful. I can't say enough great things about Captain Erick! This trip was wonderful from beginning to end. Captain Erick did an amazing job giving us the history of the area. He showed us on his wooden table map exactly where we were and what we were looking at as we were sailing. Pointing out the surrounding islands, giving us the backstory to some of the houses and people who lived there. He offered blankets to us when it got a bit windy, my friend ended up using it in the attached photo. It felt like we were with an old friend for the entirety of the trip, we had great conversation and learned some stuff too. This was our 4th year in a row out with Captain Erick. Every single time was enjoyed by all. He takes up to six passengers which there is just enough room for. It's a one and a half hour tour and you can choose if you want to go up the river towards the seaport or out into the sound. He gives narrative but it's not constant and very informative and he is very easygoing and friendly. The boat is open and has been beautifully restored. The price is worth it for the personalized ride. We always include a $ tip for the Captain. read more

Went on this Sunday brunch cruise on a beautiful day. Obviously, weather is important, you are totally open to the weather (sun, wind, rain) on deck. The crew was nice, efficient and friendly. Bonus on September 16, 2018 a Fast Attack submarine returned with a birds eye view of the full return. The boat is beautiful with full head and full hand wash sink faculties. Warning, being handicap is a burden but they say they can accommodate wheelchair (??not much room on deck??). Overweight (you real fat) is a problem getting around you (narrow walkways) and you have to climb stairs and ladders (for the head). I would recommend you closely look at weather (rain, lightning, windy) before reservations. They will sail rain or shine. I waited 3 days to be sure of the weather. Fully recommend on non-rain days with light-medium winds. read more

Captain Erick was a great host for our sunset boat ride. He was flexible in arranging a time that worked for us. His wooden boat is beautiful and is just the right size for a small group of friends (up to 6) to enjoy a sail on the river (or out into the harbor). Guests are welcome to bring their own snacks and beverages that add to the spirit. He provided some historical background for us, but without turning the cruise into a history class. One note - if meeting for the ride at high tide, don't be freaked out about the water flowing across Water Street (it's apparent where the name came from) - just drive on through. Believe the 5 star rating. Captain Erick is such a great guide and his boat was very comfortable. We were going to book with one of the bigger boats but wanted something more personal. After a quick Google search I stumbled upon this business, gave Captain Erick a call, and first impressions go a long way.... I knew I had to push everyone to go with Mystic River Cruises instead. Sooooo glad we did the last trip of the day. The vibe was very relaxed and casual. The sunset was gorgeous, and a huge plus is you're allowed to bring food and drink. We weren't able to see the bridge side which was a little disappointing due to the late start. Comfortable seating. Make sure to byob and bring ice if you need it. Last week, by what felt like utter kismet, my girlfriend and I ended up enjoying the most extraordinary private sunset cruise along the Mystic. I knew it would be great, but my expectations were literally blown out of the water! The elements convened that chilly Fall day to create the absolute best sunset I have ever witnessed in my entire life! I love taking pictures and I got SO many good ones that night! And Captain Erick - wow - he was a sheer delight! He grew up in the area and was able to tell us all about the local history and even gave us recommendations on what to see and do next and where to eat while in Mystic. I HIGHLY recommend that you you don't miss out and take this cruise while you are visiting Mystic - it was by far the absolute highlight of my trip! And if you decide to visit in the Fall, be sure to bring a hat, gloves, and a warm coat, as it gets chilly out on the open water. Captain Erick was very hospitable, and extremely accommodating to squeezing us in for a last minute sunset cruise. Although the cloud cover prevented us from having the ultimate Long Island Sound sunset experience, we still had a wonderful time. We cruised out of the harbor, and around several islands during our 1 1/2 hour tour, with Erick giving us his local knowledge on the islands, and their inhabitants. In addition to being able to BYOB, he also provided a delicious local hot cider during the tour. His boat is a gorgeous antique wooden boat which was so great to see in perfect running condition. All in all, our Mystic River Cruise experience was fantastic, but it topped it off that Captain Erick is just such a great guy. We actually had locked our keys in our vehicle when we arrived, and he stayed behind for about 2 hours to help us, and to make sure that we were able to get on our way as quickly as possible. He was also able to point us in a great direction for a late dinner, and his recommendation turned out to be on point as well! read more

We LOVED Captain Eric and his boat tour! You can't beat the price, or the fact that the boat provides a personal experience (it fits 6 people plus the capt!) We took the sunset cruise and even though it was a cloudy night, Capt. Eric knew what spot his boat would be at and what time we would catch the perfect sunset... and he made sure to take everyone's pictures once we hit the perfect view.
