SOULSCAPE GIFT & BOOKSTORE's smallish and quirky with lots of cool stuff. everybody we talked with there was gregarious and engaging. easy to see why my two familiars are regulars. as long as I'm not bound in leather zip ties while they research local bogs for a ritual sacrifice, I going to try not to stress about it. besides, the joy of being turned into a pumpkin is not nearly as exciting as advertised.

The owner stole our engagement ring…read more Our engagement ring, which my fiancé purchased at The Gem Garden IN FULL, was deliberately stolen from us by Grace, the owner. The first time we came in to purchase the ring, she was unhelpful and repeatedly did not listen to us. When my fiancé first got there, he used the word engagement ring multiple times, and yet she kept repeating back "promise ring" (it was unique for an engagement ring and she kept assuming instead of listening). She continued to do this even when I came in with our ring at a later date, at my appointment to downsize my ENGAGEMENT ring. My fiancé didn't know my ring size, and she quoted him about $35 for the sizing, saying it would take about 2 days. When I returned on a different date with our ring (that was fully paid off and completely in our possession, pictures to prove that below), she told me the sizing would be $75 because my finger is small, and that it would take about 2 weeks. Why was that not accounted for in the original estimate if my fiancé didn't know my ring size? Regardless, we decided to do it through Grace because we were advised by her to do it through the jeweler we got it from. Because of the experience, my fiancé left a bad review while it was in the process of being sized. Days later, I get a call from Grace about the review. I think she wants to resolve the issue. Silly me. She ends up telling me they "work too hard to deserve this kind of treatment" (a two sentence long bad review, she means) and that she would be "refunding" us for our ring, and keeping it. So I said something along the lines of "No, im coming back to get my ring today" after which she told me she already processed the unauthorized "refund" and we were not going to be getting OUR ring back. At that point, I was fuming. The audacity that this woman has to think that our ring is still hers in any way shape or form after we had fully paid it off, left the premises, and showed our friends and family as a symbol of our engagement, is appalling. The only reason she was able to do this is because we brought it BACK to this terrible place for a DIFFERENT service. When you take in your car to get serviced, the mechanics cannot just pay you for your car and tell you you're never going to see it again if they don't like you. That is YOUR car. "Paying" for it without permission is still THEFT. I called the police to see if they could do anything, they tried calling and getting it back and asked this woman multiple times "if we specifically asked for the refund", and "if we already left the premises after purchasing it" which we did. She then blatantly lied to the police, saying she kept it because we "threatened to cancel the credit card payment on the ring". That is laughable, because besides asking the officer if that's even possible, WE PAID WITH DEBIT. It has been days since this happened, and I am posting this days later because we were waiting for our "refund" which she told me would be instant. So for days we have not had our money OR our ring, which we will likely never see again. The only reason we are not filing a civil court case under advisory of the officer is because to deal with this woman another second would be nauseating. We will just take our business elsewhere, and trust our gut next time the owner gives us the creeps. This woman is psychotic, and should not be allowed to have a business license, let alone a business that frequently deals with important things like engagements. Do not buy your gems/jewelry here if you're looking for someone who values your needs over their fragile ego, or even if you're looking for someone halfway trustworthy. As my fiancé said in the review that sparked all of this, "they seem nice but they'll take you for a ride". Thanks for going above and beyond to prove our point, Grace.
