My goodness was this place such a treat! We were greeted by a warm, bubbly staff. They have indoor and outdoor seating options. I had the hazy IPA, which was tasty. The food was delicious and arrived shortly after ordering. We split the chicken sandwich and the catfish po'mi. As someone who lived in New Orleans for almost a decade, the catfish poboy-banh mi mashup delivered - it was the perfect mix of both and is my new favorite sandwich!! Visiting from Chicagoland and we were so looking forward to enjoying drinks and eats at this local black establishment. Unfortunately, we arrived around 3:50 PM when they open at 3:30 PM and the young lady informed us that she was on break and that the kitchen was closed. Stopped by early Saturday afternoon to check out the dark beer flight tasting, which featured nomish by nature's whoopie pie made with one of the beers (grandma's hands). It was our first time here and the staff made us feel right at home. Megna brought over the flights and gave a super detailed and engaging rundown of each beer, even offering the beer bible for us to browse. The space has a nice mix of high-top tables and regular seating so you can pick your vibe. The beers were incredible and Detria's whoopie pie was the perfect pairing. There's no private parking lot for Metier Brewing. Parking is all along the street. I went during a day and time where parking wasn't too bad to find along the street, but there does seem to be a lot street parking within some of the residential streets and a few blocks down from the Metier. Walking up to the entrance, they do have an area that would be perfect for outdoor seating in the summer, but in the winter, it's a bit too cold to be sitting outside. If they had a heater outside by the seating area, it would be nice. Be mindful when walking in or out of Metier at the entrance because there's a bit of a step to go in and out. There's lots of tables and seats to fit roughly about 30-40 people or so? The tables are big enough to do work on your laptop or play board games; which is what I noticed people doing while there. They also have some tvs on, which I would think they would put on sports if needed. The service here was great. Everyone was helpful with recommending beers and food at Umami Kushi. There was a good number of beers on tap to choose from which was listed on the wall. As for food, the okazu pan that I got was the bbq pork. It was a tad salty for my taste, but it wasn't bad. The price of $5.75 seems a bit steep for the size of the okazu pan. Because there was an event going on on the day I went, they ran out of the okazu pan of all flavors fast. Overall, the visit to Metier was good, but it was quite a drive for me. But if you live in the area or are in the area, it's not a bad place to hangout and gather with friends to enjoy a pint or two of beer. read more

Zero complaints on this visit. I walked in, ordered a beer and snack in seconds then found an open spot. Unfortunately I was alone, but fortunately the people I sat by were very inviting and open to conversation. The best part is, my beer was delicious. Their interior is very clean and simple. The layout guide you and makes the experience so simple. The beer selection and food selection is a bit limited, but I found items I could eat and enjoy just fine. I asked others around me if they enjoyed their food and drink and everyone else was very pleased with their orders. Their seating is very German bar styled. Picnic styled tables for everyone. lol. I barely remember even parking but I had to park around the corner unfortunately. It's a Seattle thing so I'm used to it. I stayed so way longer than I expected. We came here for a lovely author event. Book, We the pizza by the creator of down north pizza, Muhammad Abdul-Hadi. Great event that offered pizza from Pizza by Ruffin. I tried the root beer and that was delicious and while Pizza by Ruffin was there for this specific pop up, this establishment has food by that brown girl cooks normally I believe. Spare has gender neutral restrooms and both High top table and long commune tables. I believe this place would be a lovely space to grab a drink in the coming summer evenings that's dog friendly and has board games. Support community spaces so they stick around :) read more

Best night I've had in Seattle My husband and I stopped in here at 7:30 pm on a Thursday after a kids' school thing. Every moment of our visit was a perfect "sneak away" date night. Great beer. Excellent food (the chicken sandwich is fabulous). Live music. And the most eclectic, diverse, happy crowd I have seen in Seattle. Just happen to drive by and saw this spot poppin' off so pulled over and went in. Great beer selection with fun flavors and Japanese style small bites menu. Really fun atmosphere with TVs for sports, plenty of seating for all party sizes and guests (kids allowed), dogs are welcome and there are available water bowls for them. Small outdoor seating area with two fire pits (seats 6). No outside food or drinks (posted on the door) unfortunately. Great spot in the neighborhood! Wow, I am blown away. This is now easily my favorite brewery in Seattle, and one of the most unique. It's 100% Black-owned which, sadly, puts it in a club of probably only a handful of other breweries in the US. They are committed to representation and community, and everything about their message and culture conveys that this isn't some sort of passing fad or gimmick. The location is chill, indoor-outdoor, and has some really outstanding afro-anime ambiance. They also have really unique, Japanese-style street food! But all that is nice, how's the beer? Well, it's outstanding. Their "Mother Georges Brew Hoppy Lager" is one of the best beers I've had a at a commercial brewery. It reminds me of the beer I make at home: crispy and clear but with a big, bright, fruity hoppy bite. It's such a welcome taste when you're used to all these chalky/soft hazy IPAs. If you are into hazies well, they have a ton of those too, no worries! Stop reading already, just visit! read more

I've been to the Woodinville Metier location a few years ago and liked my experience there. When I found out that a second location opened in the Central Neighborhood I was ver eager to pay a visit here. Perhaps it was what I picked or they just improved overall but I was blown away with the beer I chose to have it here. It was off of their limited batch selection and was the Tequila Barrel Aged Smoked Porter. Oh,wow was this a great beer! A peppery taste was there in addition to a tequila flavor and smoky flavor. Perfect balance and a wonderful complexity. This beer is definitely something you must try if you are into this sort of thing or into creative craft beer recipes while visiting breweries. Five stars all the way on this beer experience in fact I'd give more if I could I was that impressed! read more

Came here with my cousin this past Sunday. I had been by this area so many times on the way to other areas in the CD. It's a few blocks down from Fays Chicken and Waffles. Great space, very open the outside seating is well covered. Nothing fancy but fun and comfortable some Adirondack chairs, a swing. simple patio furniture. Love that the space is about community developing and inspiring others. Definitely a space that will be busy during the summer, was quite a crowd on a Sunday afternoon at opening. I was born and raised in Seattle, grew up in the Rainier Beach area and my dad still lives there. What I love about the spot is that it's minority owned something the neighborhood needs. With all the changes in the CD would like to see more black owned and minority owned businesses remain in the area. I live in Ballard which is a mecca of breweries lately. I've been to a few but felt more at home here than any of the ones in Ballard. Love that Umami Kushi is served here actually fried on location. Saw Harold himself working the fryer. The chips are a must as well as the varieties of the Japanese Pan. Also was introduced ti co-owner of Métier, Rodney Hines so friendly and welcoming. Dad had a pale ale, I had an IPA and my cousin had the Black Stripe Coconut Porter. I'm not porter person but had a taste of it and would definitely order it next time it was way smoother than I expected. What I really love is their mission. Knowing that they offer internships for women and people of color, which is supported by sales of the Black Stripe coconut porter. Is another reason to love the porter. read more

If you've followed along with my Yelpy journey over the years, you knoooow I'm a longtime Metier stan. They started in Woodinville and I've loved them all the way to Seattle! Their beers are amongst some of my absolute local favorites. The Trailblazer Pale Ale is one of their staples and always delicious. Love the Dunkelweizen too! Their hazies are also always good... Honestly, I don't think they can brew anything bad. Just do yourself a favor and order a flight and try an assortment, and try to nail down your favorite! The Cherry Street location is interesting because it's located in a very residential feeling area. Street parking, so don't depend on getting a spot in a lot (I think they have one, but it's small or has strict limits on who can park there). Inside is very laid back and definitely gives off the vibe that this is a spot to come for good times and fun conversation. Kids are also welcome, which is always a bonus in my book. Moms like to unwind with a good beer, too! Sadly, I'm not able to imbibe right now because I'm pregnant. I was here recently and decided to try their NA hop water because I was curious... And it's a SUPERB alcohol replacement. Whether you're going sober, pregnant, or just not feeling a drink - their hop water is delicious. It's unlike anything I've had before but also tastes slightly (ish) like a beer? Hard to explain - you've gotta try it for yourself! I'm a big fan of the Metier story, how it came to be and what it represents for our community. I was a frequent visitor to their Woodinville location and was excited to try their new location in the Central District. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out so well. I went on a Friday when they opened at 1pm to grab some beers and something to eat. But the food wasn't available and I was told they wouldn't have food ready until at least 2pm. That's quite a bit later than my daughter can handle, so I figured I'd grab something local and bring it in since the restaurant section was so late. However, the beertender wasn't willing to allow outside food in and was not willing to make an exception due to the late opening. He offered for me to buy beer to go, which was ironic since no restaurants would allow outside beer in their restaurants. However, many breweries - like the Woodinville location of Metier - allow food to be brought in. My daughter and I left for somewhere else even though I wish we were welcome here. I hope to return one day but will eat beforehand. I'll also update my review once I'm able to fully experience this new location. read more

Super cute neighborhood hang spot. I loved the okazu pan food partner within the brewery (it was about $10 for each item, for myself, 1 serves as a snack, maybe 2 could suffice as a lighter meal). Service was super friendly. When I went (on a Friday night in February) there were a number of large parties. It feels like a younger crowd, not for families with kids. It's a beautiful spot from the outside and inside, because of the glass and metal structure. But this did make it a cold and very loud environment. I actually probably wouldn't come back because I personally find it harder to hear (everyone is YELLING to talk over the rest of the place). But it is convenient and has a charm! read more

If you want food with your beer/cider don't bother, this is a business that is actually 2 businesses, the brewery and a food service called "Lil' Brown Girl". If you are just there for a drink the brewery seems to be just fine. But for some reason the food service folks seem to engage in purposeful deception. I'm looking at their on-line menu and order an item pictured that shows a chicken sandwich with fries (joe joes) for $18. I got up to get it and there are no Joe Joes included. I point this out to the food service person and he said they were an add-on item. Well this certainly was not clear from the menu (that picture). So I take my order to the table to eat, and the food service person proceeds to come out and tell me how rude I was for pointing out that the fries were missing. Then he wants to get into a semantics argument about fries versus "joe joes", as if that had anything to do with their misrepresentation? Did not eat one bite of that sandwich, got up and left, and will not be returning. Too bad, the brewery folks seemed nice enough. I had the jerk chicken. bomb. I didn't like the hot dog that much but loved the crispy coating on the outside and the MUSTARD. But I'll just try other stuff! This place just recently opened up in my neighborhood and being a beer enthusiast I've been excited to check this place out. I have tried to come after work and i am normally off after 6:00pm. I've tried to go after work but, without our fail, I have been turned away twice because of the time I've showed up. The first time I showed up at 7:40pm knowing they close at 8:00 thinking I'll down a beer and be gone before they close. Unfortunately they said they weren't serving anymore beer. I was sad but I said okay whatever. I came in a little earlier today at around 7:20 because of my job and again they turned me away because they weren't serving food or drink anymore because of closing up. I get 7:40 but 7:20? Come on. Your hours say 8:00pm so make it 8:00pm. If not change your hours to 7:30 if you're not going to be serving past then. Terrible service ethic. read more
