Loved this store! So sad that it's closing! You never knew what they were going to have. I purchased so many great items there.

Discount shop for foods and housewares! This store is chock full of almost everything you can imagine! Not only are there aisles and aisles of food and beverages, but there are holiday items, toys, tools, garden ware, kitchen items, clothes, décor, hardware, and more. There are many things that are overstocks so grab them while you can! The inventory changes constantly so you may go back and not find your favorite item! We had a blast walking around the store filling our cart with mostly inexpensive goods. It's not fancy or not neatly stocked, but it's a unique shopping expert that's worth checking out, especially if you like good deals. The cashiers are super nice and pleasant! Went back 2 weeks ago when it was open. It's an interesting, weird place that has very random closeout stuff. The "salvage" in the title threw me off; I was suspecting gov't surplus, unclaimed freight/luggage, industrial surplus, etc. But instead it's basic retail goods (stuff you might find in supermarkets, hardware stores, etc). I suspect it will be different almost every time you go. Here's my problem with this place though; it's salvage/overstocks but it's not all that cheap. I notice a lot of times there are places in lower income communities that purport to provide value to people with less disposable income, but in reality, the people who can least afford to overpay are being overcharged (compare the price of milk and bread from a gas station or bodega to the price at a supermarket, for example). I suspect this place has a little bit of that going on. Still, if you're a junk-hound like me, it's worth a stop just to take a look. read more

Great buys! You never know what they are going to have. The only thing I wish they would allow the public to use their bathroom. I guess they stopped due to shop lifting. I'd spend a mint if I could extend my shopping experience. I've had a resected bladder and must visit br frequently. read more

The owner(?) surreptitiously followed me and my sister around the entire store. He thought we were shoplifting I guess? After I checked out, he ambushed me on my way out (I didn't know who he was). He really believed he had "caught me red handed"....anyway- long story short - he was utterly and completely WRONG. I didn't learn until after the ambush what his deal was. (I seriously thought he was just another customer.) Anyway, my sister informed me that he follows her around most times she's been there. SUCH A CREEP! read more

I like to call this the "sister" salvage store to Fresh to Frozen across town. While F2F focuses on grocery salvage....N&W mainly has everything else (They do have some groceries here too). This is a great place to find tools, painting supplies, housewares, lawn and garden, beauty/ personal care and even premium dog food....all at steep discounts. I even snagged packs of genuine POLO boxer briefs for under $10. NICE! read more

Many can goods and dry foods are pass their best buy date. But yet the price is the same as most grocery stores where the goods have a greater shelf life. Plus over the years overall maintenance of the building has slipped behind. read more

This is the weirdest store I've ever encountered, in the best way. It is kind of like the redheaded stepchild of Big Lots and K-Mart. Mostly old, unwanted, and/or crappy products, but sometimes you will find gems. They often have high-quality pet food and I once bought brand-new Le Creuset here for about 75% off retail. If you need things like bulk boxed food that may or may not be expired, lightbulbs in non-standard sizes and wattages, kitchy yard signs, or suspiciously low-quality undergarments, this is your place. read more

This is my absolutely favorite place to forage. I'm unclear where Ken L gets his pricing information and why he that the prices are higher than you will find other places or his values judgments. It is not a grocery store, nor is it a store catering to low end income folks. Rather, it is a salvage store. I am a long time customer, and I want to point out why. Service: these folks remember me, and I feel like they are my 'friends'. Selection: the selection is eclectic. If you see it, buy it. When you go back, it likely will not be there. The sell premium dog and cat food (and the not so much) at about 1/3 to 1/2 of other stores. It is close to going out of date, so stocking up may not be such a good thing. I have shopped there many years and the prices are terrific. My biggest score were ScanPan fry pans in the housewares. They were on a top shelf. Price $19.99. Closest discounted price I could find: 139.99 Yes, high end. I bought all six, and gave them as Christmas gifts. "The best fry pan I have every owned" is what recipients tell me. I love it when I find commercial kitchen items, expensive oils (changes) and condiments (jams, jellies, hot sauces etc). Recently they had imported German cookies and candies--very expensive retail, at a fraction of cost. Imported San Marzano peeled tomatoes (the 6lb can): $2.99 a can. And bread that is not out of date is always just 99 cents a package. Craft, painting, cleaning, foodstuff, beauty items, tools, gift bags, dog toys, cat toys the list goes on and changes up. It's a fun place to visit, and I have bought many useful things to use and to give as gifts to others. In fact, my favorite thing to do is to assemble gift bags from many of the high quality food, kitchen and beauty items. I would note that there are a few items (not many) that are further past a use date than I would feel comfortable using. read more

Salvage can be a misnomer. This is an outlet store that many trucking companies sell their "lost" and unclaimed freight to. MANY of the buys here are specatcular. Snacks for lunches and spices are priced WAY below retail. Birthday, Baby Shower, Gift Bags no matter the size are all .99 cents. Office supplies, garden supplies, hardware, home decorations, patio furniture, light bulbs, grills, carpeting and if this is not enough the trampton road location has auctions where you can buy PALLETs of hardwood flooring, ceiling fans, sinks, cabinetry, if Lowes or Home Depot have it.... it can be bought on Wednesday Auction at half the retail mark up. Direct Buy? Fagetaboutit! Just check for times and dates. You will need to know alittle about what you are buying, the tools appear to be priced in line with walmart and Home Depot. Oh and check out the Talbots clothing, be ready to spend some time and it's worth it if you like the hunt for a great bargain. Bring a friend and share the gas expense as it is just past the runways at the airport on the right hand side, first business you see when you are coming into Sandston.
