IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD. This company charged me about $5k to replace a well pump that didnt need to be replaced. The problem tuned out to be a pressure switch that they had previously replaced. Now they refuse to provide even a partial refund, claiming that since I signed a bid that this is entirely my fault. Their staff seem to be good people, but the two owners Kevin and Kris, are not people you want to do any business with. read more

I haven't had running water for a month. NW Poole is literally my neighbor less than a mile from me and I called to get quote to just send someone out to give me an idea what might be wrong. $300 just to show up. They said that's the minimum to pull your pump and inspect it. Who said anything about pulling my pump? Your guys might make the long 1 mile drive or walk if you will to my farm and find out the pressure tank is spraying water all over the place. Your guys could have use a multimeter to check how many amps were being drawn or something before jumping all the way to having to pull my pump for $300. Sadly, if I had the money I probably would have paid it because I'm getting desperate. $69 or $100 seems fair for a diagnostic call a walk down the street but $300? Come on. read more

This company charged me $4300 for a service on my well that did not fix my problem. They denied a partial refund and offered me a $300 credit IF I purchased a $7000 water treatment system!! Very disappointing and I feel they completely took advantage of me! read more

Long time local resident selling our home through local realtor. Decided to install a small point of use reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink for new home buyer. Since the home is vacant, we authorized the realtor to make arrangements with this company while we are out of the home to install this system. Upon return, we received an 1800 dollar invoice for the installation of a 'Pentair Reverse Osmosis POU Filter System. We then went to the home and looked at the installation and to taste the water. Upon inspection, I was surprised at how small the unit was, so I decided to look it up - found out that it is a widely available unit on Amazon and several other places for under $500.00. $1984.13 charged to install a sub $500 filter system under a sink???? HIGHWAY ROBERY in my opinion. This installation is one of the most BASIC tasks - absolutely no more than 2 hours installation time for a novice. I called NW Poole Well and Pump company and was forwarded to a man named Ron. I told him I thought that there must be a mistake. He said there was no mistake and that he stood behind that invoice and those charges. When I confronted him with the fact that the unit is available for less than 500 dollars, he started talking about wholesale pricing and warrantees. The conversation devolved quickly. I hate to leave negative reviews - but this experience is no different than if you send your family member off to the mechanic with your car to only find out later that they were charged $479.00 for an oil change. My water pressure (well pump) went from low pressure to no water. I initially called a plumber who told me my well pump was out and needed to be replaced. This would cost me $8k. I needed a second opinion from professionals. I called NW Poole. They sent Barry, Alex, and Hallmark. They did not disappoint! These guys were thorough and extremely knowledgeable. They dug in and located the problem and offered solid solutions to resolve it. Hallmark took the time to explain everything that needed to occur. I'm extremely grateful to them. Affordable solutions with quality work that got my well pump back up and running. It took them no time to restore water to my house. I can't praise these guys enough! No Water. I just wanted to give a shout out to NW POOLE WELL & PUMP CO. they are life savers. We woke up to no water last Sunday about 3:30 in the morning and I started googling for help. Found a company that advertised 24/7 help. Had to call and leave message but by 8:00 I received a call back. She sent someone out and they were able to replace the switch which allowed water to flow but the problem was we had a leak. The house was built in 69 so the well was buried underground. Instead of listening to the worker who said he wouldn't be able to do it she insisted he try. He cut the pipe which lead from the pump to the tank and tried to pry off the cap. Without the proper tools cannot be done. Then they said they had a guy but he's busy and would send him out the next day. She told the worker to put everything back together and we would have water in the meantime. Problem is when you turn the water back on the area floods out, the holding tank emptied. So we left the water off, continued buying water, boiling water and waited until the next day. Called to follow up on when to expect the other guy and had to leave a message. Had to call again around lunchtime because I receive no call back. I let her know that if they could not do the job to let me know and I would find someone else. I immediately got a call back with an apology for how things had worked out and said the other guy would be calling me. The other guy called to let me know he didn't have what he needed to complete the job and would have to order parts. I came out and asked him if he could do the job or should I call someone else, he told me I should call someone else. I decided I needed to search the BBB to find a reputable company in the area and found NW POOLE, I spoke with Mariah and she was very informative. Explained to me that with the well being underground so this time it wasn't up to code and would have to be corrected. I let her know that I would be okay with that because I just needed water and it would need to be done at some point any way. She let me know that they were slammed but would put a call into Chris the owner to see if they could fit me in. She said he would call me but it would be late because they had so much work lined up. He wasn't able to contact me that evening so my husband contacted a Plummer who had done work for us in the past. His ad said they did water wells and when talking with them they assured us they could help us. Don't hire a Plummer to repair a well problem. They sent someone out that told me he had worked on wells for many years, but couldn't get the cap off the well, he said he may damage the pipe trying to get the bolts of and the pipe would need to be replaced. I told my husband to send him home, they charged us $300 to pump the water out of the hole with a shop vac. Chris had called before the Plummer arrived and I explained that since we hadn't heard from him that night that my husband had contacted the Plummer. He said if I still needed him to call by end of day and he would send a couple of people out tomorrow. I called and on Thursday we finally had someone here to repair the well. Very knowledgeable, had a equipment needed on the truck, could not have asked for a better company. So please if you need help with a Water Well problem please call NW Poole 919-266-9223 first and save yourself a lot of unnecessary problems and expense. We moved into a house with water that was 5 ph and loaded with rust and iron. We bought a rather pricey system from them, but it has turned out to be a great investment. Our water is crystal clear, tastes good, and tests at an optimal ph range. Their technicians answer their texts promptly and are there when you need them. It is a family owned business, and they know what they are doing. After living with this water system for 7 months, we just filled our hot tub for the first time, 450 gallons, and the water was perfectly balanced. I highly recommend this company. read more

The aerator on our well had clogged and we called N. W. Poole .They tried to talk us through the cleaning process so we could do it ourselves. They were so nice and patient with us. But, we couldn't get it to work. They sent a repairman to us and Garrett was wonderful. He showed me how to do it and was very professional and polite. I was having problems with air spitting out of the faucets so I originally called a plumber and based on their tests/conclusions, it was either with the well tank or well pump or someplace in between. So I called the company that installed the well pump and tank, NW Poole. We had a 44-gallon Well-X-Trol tank which has worked without any issues for the last 3 years. When I was investigating possible problems (before the plumber came out), I realized that the well tank was laid down on it's side so I checked with the manufacturer, Amtrol, to see if it could be installed horizontally or vertically. All the documentation showed vertical pictures and they do have smaller tanks that are meant to be installed horizontally. When I spoke with Amtrol, they said the larger tanks, like the one I have, were only supposed to be installed vertically. When asked what would happen if it's installed horizontally, they said that it would void their warranty (which is 7-years, that's awesome) and that the bladder would rub and fail prematurely. When I spoke with NW Poole and told them that it was installed improperly (aka, horizontally), which voided the warranty, they said they have been laying them down on their side for 20+ years when space doesn't allow a vertical installation in the crawl space. Since Amtrol has always stood by their product, I'm sure they don't question whether it was installed vertically or horizontally. Because of this, I was going to go with 2 20-gallon tanks that would give me basically the same thing as my failed 44-gallon tank. They came out and installed 1 20-gallon tank and would have to come back to install the 2nd 20-gallon tank as they only had 1 20-gallon tank on the truck. Nobody was in the office to bring the 2nd tank so they were going to install it the next day. They had gotten tied up and couldn't come the next day but eventually came the day after. However before they came out to put the 2nd tank in, I spoke with them about installation/labor charges - they installed the tank improperly so why should I have to pay to have it replaced? I was willing to pay the difference between the 1 44-gallon tank and the 2 20-gallon tanks. They told me that if it was within 1 year, labor would have been covered but since it was outside "their" 1-year warranty, I would have to pay the labor/installation charges. They told me that if i didn't pay the labor/installation charges, that they were not going to come out and put the 2nd tank and that they would be done with the work as-is. They voided the warranty and caused the tank to fail prematurely but I have to pay them to replace it - how does that make any sense? I wanted what I was owed (and didn't feel like getting a lawyer involved on something so small), so I agreed to the labor charges so they would come and put the 2nd tank in. The next day, I went to go check in the crawlspace and make sure there were no leaks (which there were not so that's good), however, I have a sealed crawlspace and where they removed the old tank and put the new tanks in, they had either not fixed the vapor barrier or put slits in it, exposing dirt. I reached out to them for them to come fix/repair it. Originally he said they didn't have that kind of plastic or tape. Luckily I had some spare already in the crawlspace. Therefore they were able to come out the next day to complete it. The techs were very nice but I don't agree with the way the owners/management run their business from a customer standpoint - charging for labor on things that they install improperly to begin with. read more

NW Poole would not be my first choice for well and pump work. They have never left our home completing any task 100% correctly. They have regularly failed to show up when they said they would. They complain we are too far away to get out to us in a hurry. The last straw was after they hooked up the water to a filter improperly and it leaked everywhere. They then had the audacity to bill us (which they have since canceled) for fixing their mistake and blamed us for the leak. Claiming over and over "we wouldn't have left it like that." But they did, much of the work they have done has been shoddy. On top of that they leave their trash everywhere. Bags from the gravel pack were left strewn all over our yard. Their personal trash, water bottles and such, were left where they finished them. Their trucks leaked oil all over our drive way. They never bothered to back fill the trench they made for hooking up the well to our home. We were left with a two-foot-deep trench across the back yard to fill in on our own dime and time. This is after paying them 15K for a failed well, though most of that it is not their fault, we have bad water and very little of it. The last time they came to check why the gravel pack was filled to top of the well, but the screen was empty, i.e. the usable part of the well was empty, they left the spigot on the well head wide open so what little water the well produced was wasted out that valve. However, they have been responsive to criticism and to their credit we mostly kept the small problems to ourselves preventing them from addressing them before they snowballed. Still, the problems we encountered should not be common in a professional full time company. read more
