We woke to the sound of rushing water at 5am. Water heater had bad leak. Had to turn water off to house. Called 4 other plumbers until we found one able replace water heater that day. Biggest challenge was it was located in our attic on third floor. It was such poor design in our house by original builder. Attic opening was not big enough for new going in and old one coming out. We used a neighbor-recommended plumber for years and found it odd when things kept breaking that he'd done for us so we tried one of the national chains and they pressure sold us some preventative plan and every time they came it felt like high pressure sales so much so that I had my husband be present for their last visit so he could see for himself. Point of reference- our toilet needed the inside replaced. This national chain quoted us $425 and WF Plumbing charged $150. My friend had a flood in her home and WF Plumbing replaced everything that was damaged and she was really happy with them so I gave them a call. Our first visit was with Chris and he fixed the toilet innards and 2 other toilets that needed flappers replaced as well as diagnosed our primary bath faucet issue. He advised me on the brands to buy going forward and we discussed our Rinnai tankless current status and what to expect as it's getting quite old. No high pressure scaring me into an immediate replacement. I bought the new faucets and filtered shower heads and Austin and Andrew came out to put them all in. Immediately, they advised against these viral shower heads and how more likely than not they weight will cause an issue in the pipe they screw onto and cause a problem/crack in the walls and who wants all that? They seamlessly replaced our faucets in the bathroom and advised on the finish choice so that we can keep them looking good despite our firm choice of matte black which will scratch easily. Kitchen faucet- the neighbor rec'd plumber had put that one in (along with all the faucets and toilets that have broken) and they had to saw that sucker out and turns out it was leaking under our sink and caused an issue that they fixed for me as well. These guys were on time, friendly, helpful and never had me feeling pressured. We are happy to have found local plumbers who are honest and will take good care of us. read more

Called this afternoon and was told they'd have a technician call us so they could come take care of our emergency. When the technician called, he told us he didn't have room for us until tomorrow afternoon. I'm not sure what they didn't seem to understand about having an emergency, you know when you have water running that can't be stopped and you NEED a plumber to come out to shut off the water emergently. As the house was built in the 80's, there's no emergency water cut off valves. Which means you need a plumber to shut off the water at the road, with a tool they have, that normal people don't. Apparently, that translates to being able to wait more than twelve hours. It doesn't. So, save yourself time and don't call this company for "emergency " calls. They apparently don't understand what water running not stop means. Aka, it means it's a Saturday afternoon and they didn't want to have to work. Hey, that's understandable, but just say that. Don't try to explain that your "emergency" can wait more than twelve hours, so it's a more convenient time for you to fix it. read more

Called ARC Plumbing on a late Friday afternoon reporting a problem with my gas hot water heater. They offered emergency service, or said that could have a technician at my home first thing Monday morning. I opted for the Monday morning appointment. Their technician, Mike Conners, called ahead of time and let me know when he would be arriving. He arrived on time, resolved the problem promptly, and took time to discuss the issue with me. Our gas water heater was draining water through the T&P valve. Technician from ARC assessed the problem and suggested that the Expansion tank *and* T&P valve needed to be replaced. The parts & labor for replacing both items would cost $306. Additionally, the technician told me that he didn't have an expansion tank in his truck and that they would have to order it which would take a few days. Initially, I was disappointed that they didn't have expansion tank in stock. So, I told the technician that I would get someone else to come and provide a quote for comparison. I reached out to another company whose technician came within the hour, assessed the problem within 5 mins and told me that it was going to cost $100 for replacing the expansion tank. Also, I was told that the T&P valve was functioning properly and that there was no reason to replace it. It took about 15 minutes for the entire job of replacing the tank and it costed me $100 flat. Based on the above, I can say that ARC Plumbing is not trustworthy. They're up-selling with HUGE markup. Would NOT recommend ARC Plumbing to anyone! read more

These are the best plumbers in Raleigh and I stand by that. I've had multiple plumbers come out to my house and "fix" the issue with my upstairs bathrooms. This wasn't a quick service but a complicated one that involved flushing out the pipes (I think that's the term) and it runs close to $1000. That shouldn't be a repeat problem but it was until finally I got ARC which is now Progressive. They were suggested by a plumber who said I needed someone with their capabilities so I called them and they could have easily done what the others did go flushing out the pipes, charging a ton and leaving knowing it wasn't fixed but they didn't know why...not progressive...the plumber who was here was insistent on figuring out why it still sounded weird after being fixed. He literally got a stethoscope looking thing and listened up and down my wall until he found the spot. It required opening up the wall but thank goodness he did because this was a problem that would have been much much bigger and more expensive. I'll never use anyone else ever. The best!! read more

Face it, nobody wakes up and goes "I think I'll hire a plumber today." No, water showing up where it's not supposed to, especially inside your house, is never a good thing. It's happened twice in the same week with me. One required a roofer. Another a plumber. I went to Yelp for recommendations on both. Of the 4 plumbers that responded, I picked ARC for a number of reasons. First, they responded quickly. Second, they were available. Third, they were somewhat in the ballpark of the quotes I got, not the highest, not the lowest. They also did not tack on a trip charge which one quote did, and they charged by the job, not by the hour, which I prefer. Fourth, they showed up within a 2 hour window, actually earlier so bonus points. Finally the pleasant and informative Matt was just great. Gave me a rundown, told me options, left me with estimate and his personal cell if I had questions after. Haven't scheduled the job yet but plan to and will update review after that. read more
