I came here for the first time & never tried Indian cuisine in my life so I was pleased to be greeted by the store manager. He was very kind, passionate about his job and super helpful as to what combinations to get. The food ended up being delicious and flavorful. My husband and I ate everything! Stopped her on a Sunday afternoon, only one person working. Tables needed to be cleaned and they were out of a few items. We got the rice bowls & planned on getting hummus but they were out. The rice bowls are always good. We got bottled water , choices weren't that great since the pop machine was out of order. Several people walked in and left because of the lack of choices. Poor customer service rude and nasty owner. I had a gift card for this place for quite awhile. I finally had the chance to use it. We placed our order and went to check out, I handed them my gift card to pay the bill. My gift card that had never been used was declined. The cashier questioned the owner and he said that they don't use those gift cards any more. He explained that there computer system failed and had to get a new one. The new system will not process my older card. He told me my gift card was no good with the new system. I told them that NY state has a no gift card expiration if used with in 9 years. He decided to give me the refund and then changed his mind saying he has no way to verify that my card had $25 on it. He also had no way to verify there isn't $25 on it. I explained to him it was written on the envelope that mysteriously disappeared. The kind employee validated that it was on there. It definitely seemed like the employee was bothered by his bosses actions. He was now saying with out the receipt he would give me back on money. I told I believe it was in the envelope that has now disappeared. Lunch ended up costing $40. some dollars, for poor quality food. The owner was an unfriendly, nasty and rude. Had to be one of the worst customer service experiences ever. He never offered any discount or anything. Just a SCREW YOU. read more

Basically an "Indian Chipotle" where you get to customize your own bowl with different toppings & proteins. Taste wise is great, but portion size is lackluster. I wish there were more options for the bowl base as I can't eat rice and the spring mix is just that - not more than a garnish. The person behind the counter was very friendly. The entrees also come with free chai tea. It's just a tad too heavy on the cardamom. The one thing I didn't like was that it could've been a lot cleaner. The floor and tables could use a good scrub. I love Naan-tastic and have meant to get around to providing a review for them. Yesterday, I got the chance to attend an Yelp Elite only event. This event gave us the opportunity to catch up with yelp friends and make new ones :). This was also their 5-year anniversary so that was exciting. So ideally, this was the perfect time and place. One of my favorite things about this place is their vibe. The dining area is incredible spacious and ALWAYS spotless. I regularly visit and dine-in. I even hold casual work meetings here to grab some good food while discussing business. I ordered veggie samosa with a small side of their vegan Mac and a bowl. I am a vegan and appreciate how many plant based options they have readily available. Since this is one of my favorite spots I pretty much knew exactly what I was looking for. I decided to build my own bowl starting off with quinoa as my base and Chana masala as my protein of choice. These two were also paired with fajita vegetables. For my sauce I get the vegan vindaloo which is incredibly flavorful (side note) they sale bottles of this. They also have vegan naan available upon request. Now I would be remiss if I only talked about their delicious food. One of my favorite parts about Naan-tastic is their incredible customer service. Specifically Bilaal is amazing. I remember bringing my best friend with me to try this place. Honestly, she's very inquisitive ( read picky) about food. The patience and honest candor of Bilaal was very appreciated. If you like Channa Masala, and getting out of the rain... I'm not the type to brave this traffic nightmare, but my gal pal is at the wheel, and we're seeking refuge in a relatively empty restaurant. To be fair, it is 3pm, though it is a weekend, so I don't know if everyone has gotten takeout or is sleeping on this place. I too was one of the latter, having wanted to try it without facing the parking lot. Hooray for my gal! We both were obviously new to the game, made evident by the way we were staring at the menu board. The guy behind the counter beckoned us forward, giving us a thorough rundown of the entire counter. It's set up like Subway, with an Indian twist. He had us sample the sauces before making us commit to anything and even took note when I asked for a lighter portion on something, as the serving size is quite generous compared to some place that may rhyme with "rip off -otle." My gal went for a rice bowl, and I decided to follow her lead, though we went for different rice options, her the cumin and me the turmeric. We did have the option to split it as well. The rice had a good consistency, with enough fluff to not be congealed, yet stable enough to hold under the weight of the other toppings. I'd say it was about two cups worth. My gal went with lamb, a double portion. She said it was cooked well and tasted great. She grew up on lamb, so I trust her judgment, as I personally went for the chickpea curry. There is a slight heat to it, and even with a single portion I feel satisfied. He dissuaded us from adding on cheese, which would dilute the glory of the well seasoned meal. My gal actually let him decide what flavors would best suit the bowl, which he complied, verifying that she was okay with his choices and insisting on adding the finishing sauce before adding the cilantro. I went for cucumber, lettuce, onion and a wee bit of jalapeno, no sauce, as I cannot seem to keep my shirt clean when I eat saucy food. She also went for a mango drink that tasted like real mango. He said he drinks one a day himself, and while I didn't get a drink, seeing both of them so blissful over it, I do wonder if I should have. But there's always next time. That's when I'll also get a naan like her, because it's large and delicious and will sop up that shirt spoiling sauce. It's relatively affordable given the quality and quantity, and you're welcome to dine in or takeout. So yes, I like Channa Masala, and getting out of the rain in this little escape. read more

I ordered online and it was ready when I came to pick it up! There is a lot of seating on the inside and one picnic table outside. I ordered the chicken tikka rice bowl with the vegan vindaloo sauce. I loved that it was spicy, seasoned well and had lots of great topping choices. The naan and veggie samosas I thought was just ok. The naan was advertised as garlic butter, but tasted very plain to me. Not sure if that was a mistake or not. The samosas I just didn't like the flavor and the fried coating was very dry and not crunchy like I was expecting. Neither was very special or amazing tasting to me for the prices. The mango lassi was very good; it tasted like a milk based mango smoothie. Very refreshing. Next time I would order the chicken tikka rice bowl and the mago lassi drink. I loved this place when it first opened. Everything was high quality, including service, for a "build-a-bowl" format restaurant. I stopped in yesterday and it was like a whole new place - unpleasant older man serving, small portions, out of order fountain drink machine, and $15 for a half-filled bowl plus 1 naan. Interesting concept. The build your own bowl reminds me of a Mexican bowls you'd get at Chipotle. It's certainly not your typical Indian food with the exception of maybe naan and samosas though I didn't order either of these so can't speak to how they are. I had my bowl made with a turmeric rice base and Chicken Tikka. It was topped with the screamin' vindaloo sauce which was good but not as hot as I expected. There were also nice fresh vegetables including a cucumber tomato mix, sweet corn, jalapeños, and red onions plus lots of cilantro. This was finished off with a cilantro mint sauce and cucumber raita. All of the flavors stood out while also complimenting each other. The only thing that seemed to get lost was the Sev (fried chickpea noodles) that were added with the veggies but disappeared into the dish. Overall very tasty. I've got very mixed feelings about this place. This place is like a trendy chipotle style of Indian food. This would be a good place to bring people who are familiar with chipotle style food, but to further introduce them to slightly Indian food. If you like spicy food, I would highly suggest making sure that they pour a lot of sauces in the mix. Also, a lot of their "spicy" sauces are more of a sweet. One day after work, my wife and I grabbed a bowl each, took it to a park, and had it. Each bowl is roughly $15, and its okay. They either need to make the mood more flavorful, lower the prices, or both. In a city like Buffalo, there are far more better options to go with, including within walking distance from Naan-Tastic. Also, they need to list the prices for the drinks, and remember to give the customer the receipt. Other than that, this is a pretty okay experience and more on the level of Chipotle . read more

Huge fan of this place! For the longest time I didn't bother even walking in to check this place out. Given its location, I assumed it was yet another big chain in the plaza. I was incredibly surprised to learn it was founded in Rochester and there are only 3 locations. The food is amazing. The flavors, the options and the 'Indian Street Food' concept is a perfect blend. Everything is labeled and even explained on the menu (including gluten free) and you get to make your own meal. I have mixed feelings over this mixed concept. Indian food gone Mexican style (Chipotle or Moe's). So much is lost. Good to try something new, innovation brings new ideas and business potential. I had to try this new concept Indian restaurant with so much publicity. However, like some of the Yelp reviewers mentioned: there are many better choices for Indian cuisine in the area. Indian food served the traditional way is the way to go. Folks new to Indian cuisine are mixing and matching weird bases and sauces and protein combinations. Unknown to them what the item is really supposed to taste like. Instead of liking Indian food, they may end up never trying it again. As well, it is confusing, looking at all the choices on the menu. And I grew up eating this kind of food, Pakistani /Indian cuisine, so I can understand how a newcomer would be lost! I didn't find the naan to be a true naan- not hot and crisp right from the tandoor (clay oven). The naan-taco I ordered, left the naan (tasted more like a pita) at the bottom of the bowl soggy, and unappetizing. The halal chicken topping with makhni sauce was ok in terms of taste. Not fantastic. It didn't help to add on fresh salad toppings or spinach greens - this is just not the way butter chicken is eaten. Furthermore at $11.18 this naan taco was way over-priced. The samosa chat came with 2 Potato filled samosas literally sitting in ("Chole") garbanzo bean mix, which made them soggy and not enjoyable. I don't think this "eat in one bowl concept" works well for these otherwise tasty, and common, Indian cuisine favorites. We also ordered a fish bowl. Fried and battered fish, rice, Kadai sauce and greens and salad toppings. Again, all the mixing of items in one bowl made for a strange and unappealing mess. Our server went overboard with the fresh ginger. Wow. Was that a sharp and spicy few bites. I will not be back to this restaurant soon. Close to $40 for a very average Indian food outing is too pricey for my wallet. read more

Naan-Tastic is the do it yourself, customizable, chipotle style Indian place I didn't know that I needed in my life. I was super excited when I first heard about this place and even though it took me a few weeks after the grand opening, I finally made it here over the weekend. The place was pretty packed when I came for lunch on Saturday and for good reasons. I waited in line and when I actually saw the huge selection of food for my choosing, I was feeling pretty good. I ended up ordering the naan taco bowl (which was confusing since they gave me my garlic naan on the side, but I'm not complaining) and got turmeric rice, cucumber, panner tika, gardein chicken, kadai karma sauce, corn, and lettuce along with a side order of the fish pakora! The bowl was absolutely incredible and tasted like I was actually eating a version of heaven in food form. The fish pakora was new to me and blew me away. From the breading to the flavour of the fish I was left in a tasteful bliss. I could not of been happier with my first ever stop at Naan-Tastic. I'm a fan of the concept and have been back at least twice since the place has opened and I love it. The fresh food, the high quality ingredients - even sadly, yes--the fries that you can get as a base. I unapologetically love them. Even when the place is busy, the line moves super fast. The sauces have been on point and I think this place has a really solid chana masala protein and even offers a veggie chicken protein that many Indian restaurants do not have a substitute for. The naan falls short for me and I wish it would be a bit crispier and getting the makhni fries to go can be just a tad bit of a logistical issue with the sogginess getting to the fries, but nothing that is there fault. I've had the yoga bowl, the college bowl and just plain chana masala on a naan--and everything has been solid every single time. Flavorful and crispy, even after taking them to go, having a 20 minute conversation, and then checking into a hotel to avoid the bathroom remodel project being conducted at home. True story.
