    Kotthu roti

My family is from Sri Lanka and we went to try out Colombo Spice recently and loved it. We've gotten to eat some great Sri Lankan food in Sri Lanka, as well as in Toronto, and I think Columbus Spice compares favorably -- the kotthu roti is very fresh and not oily, which is amazing because often in the oiliness in the way, it's prepared in other places prevents us from ordering it. The rice and curry with chicken curry is excellent, all over the curries were excellent. This is high-quality food serve served by people who really care. Restaurants like this don't survive in Buffalo without people going and supporting them so I encourage anyone who even reads this review to go out there and dine in or get takeout or order delivery. This restaurant deserves to thrive. The dining room is small, but very clean and well designed. It's definitely worth a visit.

    Sambar, vadai, dosas

I absolutely adore dosas and we rarely have enough restaurants offering them in Buffalo. Dosa Place and Palace of Dosas were great but they're not open in Buffalo anymore. I was craving dosas on this cold and wet evening and we tried out Colombo, which took over the old Masala Pot location. We have mysore masala cheese dosa, masala cheese dosa, and vadai. They were all spectacular. The sambar that came with it was perfectly seasoned. We can't wait to eat here again!

I have been meaning to come here for a couple of years to try Sri Lankan food, and finally made it with my wife. This place is small and can get busy on the weekend. They really need to get smaller tables so that they can fit more people. The first thing we tried was the mutton kottu , which was pretty awesome! If you are not familiar with this dish, it is a combination of mutton curry, paratha diced up , onions, and a few other veggies. If you are looking for an entree, this is highly one weed recommend. Along with this, we got the fish rolls, which were delicious! We also got the vada In sambar, Which was decent. For dessert, we got a carrot Halwa with ice cream, which was nothing to write home about. The Masala tea was decent and the Nelly Crush was refreshing too. The Falooda was not as good as others I've had.

This place has a variety of Sri Lankan dishes, North Indian curries, and South Indian dosas. We went specifically for the Sri Lankan food. It's my favorite cuisine, it's hard to find, and it's amazing to see it popping in in WNY. Kotthu roti a classic dish made from chopped up roti and whatever else mixed in. I only had kotthu twice when I lived in Sri Lanka, so I can really only compare it to other kotthu I've had in the US and Canada. The one at Colombo Spice is a tasty accessible dish folks shouldn't be afraid to try. We ordered it medium and it was fairly mild as to heat and also light on aromatic spices. It's mostly roti without a ton of vegetables. Four stars because they don't have vegetarian short eats or Sri Lankan curry, which would elevate this to "as good as it gets." That could also be because they serve Tamil food rather than Sinhalese cuisine. Sinhalese folks are predominantly Buddhist and therefore more likely to be vegetarian. I lived with a vegetarian Sinhalese family, so that's my jam.

    Dolphin kottu

Delicious! This was my first time trying dolphin kottu and I thoroughly enjoyed the dish as prepared here. The paratha roti pieces were nice and flaky, the creamy saucy component was fragrant with spice, and it was served piping hot. The vada was tasty as well though soft, and I really enjoyed the sambar, even if I didn't have the spice tolerance to eat the rest of it without something to dip. In fact, I just wish I'd gone a bit easier on the spice level with my entree to truly be able to enjoy it as medium was quite hot for me. Thankfully once the leftovers cooled I was able to chow down. I'll definitely stop by again when in the area!

This is truly a gem in Buffalo! Went here for the first time this past Saturday and we had two different kinds of dosas, chili pakora, and paneer pakora and everything was brilliant. It's so difficult to find dosas outside of NYC, Chicago, Toronto, etc that to finally have them in Buffalo and at this quality is a treat. We'll be visiting often

We enjoyed the restaurant's eclectic music throughout the meal, and it had a cool beer menu as well (with some beers imported directly from India). This is a strong family-owned business, and you can tell they truly care and are proud of what they serve to you. I will say, walking in on a Saturday night, the place was dead. But as we sat, loads of people stopped in to grab take out. I encourage those who read this to dine in! Not only will you avoid a delivery fee, but you'll get a chance to take in one of the more unique and chill vibes of a restaurant I've been in around Buffalo.

We've done the buffet twice, and the turnover keeps it fresh and the many chutneys and spices keep the standards good. They pride themselves on non-"Americanized" versions of the food, and while I'm no expert, it seems like they take a few more chances than some of the other buffets in town. The beer and wine menu can be a little out of date, but even there, the prices and selection are good. Service has been friendly on both occasions that we've been. This one's a keeper. Has a parking lot.

There were two dipping sauces. One was green and chunky(like a salsa) and the other looked like soy sauce. It had a nice kick to it. I ate both the samosa and the deep fried leaves. I liked the fried leaves very much, with the dark brown spicy sauce. Not easy to eat, but tasty. The hot items on the buffet were labeled, but I did not write down the names. One was, of course, rice! Most of the dishes had nice chunks of chicken in them. The Tikka Marsala was my favorite, lots of chicken with the peppers and seasoned sauce. There was also a dish with paneer cheese in it. Also nice, and the paneer does get nice and soft. Another dish was a chicken curry. There were several dishes that were vegetarian. Everything I ate had a nice flavor and some also had some heat/spiciness. I think the lunch buffet is offered 6 days/week. It's $19.95. It's a lot of food for lunch. It is not clear whether the buffet is also available at dinnertime.
