I am currently going through the process of applying for a home loan with NACA. Thus far, it has been a positive experience, but requires patience and persistence. The Good: NACA offers an incredible opportunity for homebuyers who may not have a large down payment. The program's assurance of no down payment, no closing costs, and no PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance) is unmatched. This is a huge relief and makes the prospect of homeownership feel much more attainable. In addition, the workshops are incredibly informative - enabling you to understand every step of the process and what is required as a participant in the program. The Challenges: The process has been quite lengthy and arduous, which isn't unexpected, but is something to be prepared for. NACA requires a lot of documentation, and at times, it feels like a never-ending paper chase. Nonetheless, this thoroughness is part of what ensures participants are financially ready for homeownership, so I understood the need for it. Final Thoughts: If you're patient, organized, and willing to put in the work, NACA is an excellent program that can help you achieve the dream of homeownership with terms that are hard to find anywhere else. I'm in the process of trying to get a home loan through the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) program. The benefits of this program that apply most to our situation include no closing costs, no down payment or mortgage insurance required, and an interest rate which is lower than the national average. They have a lot of requirements in order to get these benefits and the process can be frustrating. Once they have your bank statements, they want you to categorize every transaction that shows up on your statements for the last 3 months. If you have any medical transactions, they will want more information about those. Additionally, they require you to complete five "participation" events each year - for example, writing this review is my first one. Other options include giving a short testimonial at 5 NACA events during the course of a year, referring 10 people to NACA and having them apply, creating a video in your new home, etc. Right now I am giving a neutral review, but it seems like if you qualify and are willing to jump through all the hoops, it can be a good program to help you buy a home. read more

My husband and I are in the middle of our NACA journey. Our Mortgage Counselor, Ellen Petersen is the best! So very patient and kind with a wonderful sense of humor! We have had our second virtual meeting and we are just a few steps away from finishing up with all of the required paperwork and documents. At times the process can seem overwhelming and daunting, however, we know that in the end, it will truly be worth it. We can see our dreams of becoming home owners actually becoming a reality right before our eyes! It is such a wonderful feeling and so exciting to know that Ellen will be with us every step of the way! If you are fortunate enough to have Ellen as your counselor, work with her and take her advice! Do your part because she definitely does hers....and well. Completed my NACA homebuyer workshop on a Sat and was in the very next week for my first Intake Counseling Zoom meeting. I'm located in AZ (the housing market is crazy) and I was told about NACA from a friend for the down payment program. I want to purchase a new construction home and this is an option with NACA. I like my counselor Isaac Gomez (was given an action plan to have completed by my next meeting in 3 weeks). I have heard good things about the NACA program so I was excited to take the leap of faith. I completed my full action plan this weekend. I was told by friends that Patience/ Perseverance/ being Pro-active will get you through this program with great success (and I can tell this is completely true) I will write an updated review as things progress. read more

I started with NACA because I was trying to buyer a house , but things did not work well with the mortgage broker. my realtor refer me to NACA, so I told my sister and my best friend let's do NACA together. NACA is the best no PMI and NACA offer a lot a things that the other lenders doesn't offer. We worked with NACA in 2012, and yes, it takes time, and yes, they ask for a lot of information. The reason for this is that they have first rate lenders - Citibank and Bank of America just to name two. You get your home that you can afford with no down payment and no closing costs. We were lucky enough to get a nearly 2500 square foot, four bedroom - three full bath home for only 109,000! I highly recommend NACA. I started my NACA process a year ago and I really have to say it's had been a roller coaster of emotions excited stressful determination to make sure I have everything they need. Took longer than I thought it would but I know all the ducks have to be in order and that was my goal to make sure everything was perfect. Drove to Mesa from North Phoenix. Spent a couple hours in orientation. They never called. This is an organization with no organization. If this is your only option for home ownership, the hassle of the process is probably worth it. But if you have other options, I suggest you don't waste your time and patience waiting on "the process." What you pay in rent waiting for "the process," to buy a home probably comes close to what you would save in interest and PMI. read more

I was ready to jump into the unknown with a lender when my mom became ill. For a moment it was, get a home or help my mom. Thankfully I found NACA! I started the process in March this year and just 6 months later I'm headed towards qualification. NACA does require time and effort. How quickly the process moves along is completely up to you.
