I started my new house search with Lund Mortgage for loan pre-approval, and while the process was smooth, it was more labor-intensive than I anticipated. As the new house search progressed, I grew more concerned about mortgage rates. I found Matt's responses to my inquiries somewhat vague, which made it difficult for me to estimate my monthly payments. This prompted me to explore other lenders, who provided clearer information about rates. To make a very long story short, I had to refinance my house and started looking over the weekend. I googled best mortgage companies and Rocket Mortgage came up as number one, so I filled out the information received a call from an employee and started working the process. I got an interest rate of 7.25, Which I thought was very high, but I had to get this loan into my name by the end of the month. I kept trying to remember the name of a company I had heard on KTAR that got good reviews, and could not for the life of me remember, until Monday, it just hit me. It was Lund Mortgage company. I made a phone call and was given to a mortgage employee by the name of Matt Oliver. I worked with Matt on their process.He worked with me very closely and got all my information. I told him that I had been filling out paperwork with Rocket Mortgage. He said that Lund Mortgage is a broker and he could get me a much better deal. Well, the story is already long so let's shorten it up. He got me an extremely good interest rate on a conventional 30 year loan, which is what I wanted. I don't have any money to put down so they were able to wrap the closing costs into the mortgage for me because I had enough equity in my house. I am going to sign closing papers tomorrow and my house will close by the end of the month, which is less than 30 days from start to finish. I hate leaving negative reviews, but it experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. I heard about Lund Mortgage on Arizona Sports radio and contacted them about a year ago. At the time I was told it probably wasn't beneficial for us to refinance. I appreciated that honesty so when rates dropped this year I reached out again. Good news is that this was not the worst mortgage experience we've had. Wells Fargo gets that award. And National Bank of Arizona probably gets second worst. But our experience with Lund was not good. I know there is a pandemic going on but it was terribly frustrating how long this loan took. And that was on top of not being able to close a another loan on a second home (probably not their fault, but added to frustration). The communication was really bad and I felt like I was always the one having to call or email for an update. I barely heard from our loan officer...over two months I think we talked on the phone once. Similar experience with our processor. I just felt like nothing got done or status wasn't followed up on unless I followed up first. We ended up closing one of the two loans, but it was a month later than we expected. And the staff was not proactive at all. We've had several friends hear we were refinancing and interested in who we were using and I've had to steer them away from Lund. Here is the truth about Lund Mortgage: They are incredibly knowledgeable in what they do and you should trust them if you are buying a home (especially your first). Matt Oliver earned our business because during our first call, I asked Matt what is the difference between them and others, why should we pick Lund. Other companies sounded gimmicky and said things like "we have the lowest rates and BEST customer service." He flat out told me "Well, it is a mortgage and there are plenty of mortgage companies. If you want to shop and or deal with an app, then go ahead. I think customer service and trust goes a long way, so the only thing I can do is assure you is that I will do the best I can and we usually do a great job." That no BS answer told me everything I needed to know. We went in there a little excited with many questions and Matt Oliver took his time to give us answers to all of them. When we were anxious, tried to speed up parts of the process, or were thinking of doing something they wouldn't recommend, Matt would candidly shoot us straight and give us solid advice. The only negative thing about the whole process was they were occasionally hard to get ahold of. By that, I mean response within 24 hours - max. Which is understandable given the rates and the amount of customers flooding in. By no means was any of our process delayed or done wrong because of Lund, just a little patience was required on our end. We went into this process fully ready to "shop" for mortgages and blitz for the lowest rate. In the end, Lund was good to us and got us an awesome rate off the bat. So we ultimately stuck with them all the way through and didn't look elsewhere. Towards the tail end, Lisa Lund assisted us in a few matters. She was very polite, responsive, and knowledgeable as well. I can see why she runs the place. We plan to use Lund again if we start investing in other properties or need to refinance. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I called Lund because of their ads on KTAR. I was happy with the rate I got (because of MY excellent credit... I could have gotten that rate anywhere)... and very disappointed by the lack of communication with the Lund team, multiple mistakes on documents, annoyance by the loan officer when I would ask questions and higher than anticipated closing fees. They did not take the time to explain anything to me and had I not locked in at the lowest possible rate I would have left them... but it took them over a month to close my loan, causing even more fees to be incurred, even though I turned in all documentation on the day it was asked for. I would never recommend Lund. They don't have time to give you all necessary information, they are annoyed by questions, and they don't deliver on deadlines. read more

Communication is completely one way; you always have to email them to stay informed, and it takes days for responses. I'll have to agree with other reviews I've read. The people here are nice enough, at first. After the initial meeting with Stan Lund regarding our refinance, things fell apart. Our projected closing date came and went without a word from them. Each one of my phone calls led to a different answer, depending on who I spoke with. I was told not to pay my June mortgage payment because all would be completed, but paid it anyway since I hadn't heard anything. Good thing, because the mortgage was not closed in time. After some apologies for the lack of updates, we got our disclosures from the lender. Lo and behold, the rate had gone up. I called about this and I got a very unapologetic "Oh yeah, I thought I told you about that. It's because we lost our lock because of the time it took to get final approval." At this point, I'm pissed but I don't want to get an even higher rate by starting the process over somewhere else. I am reassured that there will be "no more surprises" and give them the go ahead to try to get this done. The NEXT DAMN DAY I get a call saying that they want me to get a quote from a different homeowners insurance company because they are having trouble getting the letter they need from mine. I tell them that I'm not jumping through any more hoops. Either this deal gets done or I'll just start somewhere else. Later that day they inform me that the lender has resolved the insurance issue (yay). After all was said and done it took about 4 months to get a HARP refinance. My main issue was the lack of communication and then the lack of even getting a "my bad" when things weren't processing. For what it's worth, my credit score is just under 800, so this wasn't an issue. Booooo! read more

Great company and this is from someone who did not use them. I called them to see about refinancing my home because I heard the mortgage rates had dropped. In talking with Matt he help me decide that it was not in my best interest to do so. He said I could but it made no sense to pay the fees to refinance when I owed so little and did not want to extend my term. He took the time to walk me through everything answering any questions, he took the time to pull all the numbers for my review, and then in the end he did all that work and recommended not to do it, which meant he did not get paid on anything.
