Dropped into Nachbar for a quick beer break during our walk. That's what's great about little neighborhood watering holes like this one - they're always there when you need them! One thing is for sure... Nachbar has some of the most comfortable bar stools in Louisville. High curved back, swivel, cushioned - ah, it's the little things. We got there right as they had opened, so we had the bar to ourselves for a little while. They have holiday lights strung up inside and it was nice to enjoy a beer and chat in the comfy bar with the festive lights up.

Nachbar is our go to bar in Germantown. It has good vibes and friendly atmosphere. The beers and cocktails are reasonable prices. The bartender Bow and team are phenomenal. They always have great on their faces and welcoming attitude. They have live music and bands playing on weekend. Plenty of space to hang around. They are open until late night. It's a good bar to have a drink at anytime of the day.

What a great hipster bar! Craft beer, cocktails, and a band feature a squeeze box & a tuba. Seriously this bar is a Germantown icon. Come check out one of the best patios in area.

Been to the Nach twice and it's already one my wife and I's offical new watering spots. After the closing of Cumberland we've been hoping to find a place that has the homey, relaxing vibe and a beer list that doesn't break the bank. The Nach can be considered a place where everybody knows your name. I look forward to becoming a regular. $2.50 Hudy Delight wont keep us away.

I want to The Nachbar with a colleague for a couple beers after work one afternoon. This spot earns its reputation as a dive bar and also manages to wear it well! I encountered the appropriate ratio of regulars at the bar and was impressed at the variety on the draft list. I had a great German draft from Andechs and would gladly go back for more. Service is at the bar only and the bartender was affable and efficient. The decor has some clear German connections and there's a certain charm in how it all comes together. I'm sure I'll be back for another pint.

Nachbar is a dive bar! Reasonable drink prices, generous pours on the mixed drinks. No frozen drinks. No food served. Friendly, interesting people and their dogs, and a very relaxed atmosphere are the big draws. No food is served, but you can bring your own without questions or disapproving glances. Parking is available on the street. The bartender is friendly and accommodating. I am told the bar morphs from a blue collar watering hole to hipster hangout most nights. I was there with a neighborhood crowd. Dogs are welcome and some appear to be regulars. Sitting on the back deck enjoying a beer was not unlike a laid back dog park with the dogs visiting each other while moving from table to table for a little attention (and treats from those who prepared for the experience).

My beloved Nachbar, how I miss being able to walk home at the end of a fun-filled night spent on your patio or barstool. Years of living in Germantown made this place my local, my neighborhood joint, my Cheers. Although I moved out of state and then back to another hopping neighborhood, I still come to enjoy the kind vibe at the Nach. Nachbar has everything you want in a neighborhood dive - a great jukebox, live music, cats/dogs prowling about, a front and back patio, and strong drinks. Their rotating taps always have something intriguing that I'll enjoy (in summertime its Stiegl Radler or Wittekerke). Plenty of bourbons and vodkas keep me happy year round. No where else in town can I get a Makers and Ale 8 at this price! People call Nach a hipster bar, but I've seen everyone from old timers who grew up in Gtown to soccer moms with babies in strollers enjoying each other's company at this meeting place. Nachbar brings folks together over drinks to share stories and spend some time away from their devices to appreciate each other. I love Nachbar and will continue to patronize as long as the doors stay open and the drinks continue flowing!

I was only in Louisville for a weekend but I could see this being one of my favorite bars if I lived nearby. I love dive bars, which from outside appearances you should too if you even want to step inside. There are plenty of little charming quirks for you to take in on first visit, and ample space (both inside and out) and beer options to keep you wanting to come back. FYI - The draft beers are all listed above you, across from the bar, so instead of squinting behind the bartender just turn around

By far one of my favorite places we went to well, drink in Louisville! As it was New Years Eve we wandered around the Germantown neighborhood whooping it up and stumbled upon this lil divey boozy bar. We enjoyed excellent service and met some really cool people in the process. Just a good time all around. Really not much else to say about sitting in a bar but it was what it is supposed to be, Good Times! Happy New Years Nachbar!

The bartender was snarky, but it felt ironic and playful -- classic dive bar energy. No issues at all. I even suggested we return Monday night with coworkers. For context, multiple bartenders at the first bar we visited that evening warned us not to go to 3rd Street Dive due to past negative experiences. I brushed it off because my Sunday visit had been fun and I thought they just didn't like the dive bar vibe. Monday was a completely different story. The bartender was openly hostile from the start -- yelling and swearing at customers, aggressively confronting people for briefly being on their phones, and creating a tense, uncomfortable environment. Demanding no one stand at the bar while we were trying to pay our tab. The situation escalated when he intentionally and aggressively threw a drink on one of my coworkers. This was not an accidental spill in a packed bar. It was deliberate. At that point, it stopped being "dive bar attitude" and started feeling volatile and unsafe. There's a difference between edgy and unprofessional. Sunday felt edgy. Monday felt unpredictable and uncomfortable. Louisville has too many great spots to risk spending your evening somewhere that could escalate like that. I hope ownership takes a serious look at what's happening behind the bar. I won't be returning.

There's a bartender named Yan who used to run this challenge where he'd make you a cocktail and only charge you if you liked it, he was really good at what he does. He's the one who introduced me to the Paper Plane, which is now one of my all-time favorite cocktails. I'm not sure if he's still there, but the other bartenders seem pretty good too. Just tell them what you're in the mood for and let them guide you. Here's what I got recently: The Dark Bar Princess: a must if you like something sweet and fruity. I'd say it's lime-forward with a strong pomegranate presence, and the gin completely disappears into it. Super refreshing and really easy to slam. Highly recommend this one. The Day Disco: a mezcal cocktail with a chili rim that brings real smokiness and heat. It's got a little sweetness to balance it out, but the mezcal is definitely there. I've never loved mezcal so this is just "pretty good". Monkey Drive shot: It smells and tastes artificial, like heavy fake banana, almost chemical. Not their strong suit. On the food side, I can definitely recommendthe Machada empanada for $6. Beefy, cheesy, and one of the best bar snacks they have supposedly. The bartender told me it's their biggest crowd-pleaser and I agree. Overall, would recommend this spot

Then when your "puck" lights up, get your order at the pickup window. Like all restaurants, Hauck's does some things better than others. Their burgers are excellent. If you're into smoked wings (I'm not), they're very good. Served hot, crispy, and not soggy. The sticky ribs appetizer were also excellent. I decided to try something other than a burger and went with the Big Brisket Dip. Smoked brisket, caramelized onions, cheese, horseradish aioli, and a side of au jus served on a hoagie bun. I added a side of steak fries. Hauck's nailed it. An excellent sandwich and crispy fries. I had hoped to take half home, but I just couldn't put the darn thing down. My wife ordered Dirty Nachos. They were a disappointment. Queso drenched chips? Nope. Black beans? Few and far between. A touch of pico. We added chicken (it was shredded). Some dry cheese (not melted). And a spicy aioli. Not at all what was described. The dish was so dry I thought it was designed to encourage ordering more beer to wash it down. Oh well, every time at the plate can't be a hit. One of the best things about Hauck's is the fun vibe. Lots of indoor/outdoor seating. Tons of games to keep little ones busy. And very pet friendly.
