I first came to this bar in 2019 when it opened. I absolutely loved the vibe of the place. I introduced my friend to this place and now we are loyal patrons at least once a week if that. We mostly love coming here because it is 21 and up and we can be adults here. Other reasons: they have different flavored Margaritas of the week and every Tuesday was $5 Margs and they had a taco food truck here as well. Not sure if they still do that. We also love coming here for the pinball games (they switch out periodically) and the patio in the back we absolutely love. This place certainly faced its challenges during and after the pandemic. They have bounced back tremendously and with that came some changes. My biggest kicker, they haven't had updated Merch for sale for a very long time. Kinda noticed the change about maybe 2 years ago. For the past 2 years there have been no Derby stickers (something they started in 2020). They have done derby shirts for the past 2 years but, no stickers. I also collected their own stickers as well, there haven't been any new ones for a while. This is really my only kicker here. Idk what's changed or if it's not in their budget but, merch does bring in money. I also miss Potato the bar cat. I asked someone a long time ago what happened to Potato and a bartender told me the owners moved. I hope they can bring in new merch at some point and new stickers lol. They also used to post on Facebook what food trucks would be coming each night so, someone has dropped the ball on that. The staff here is very wonderful and my friend and I adore them. We are treated like we belong here and don't feel out of place. Even the patrons make us feel welcome. This is one of the few bars we go to where most everyone is laid back and is not too rowdy for us. Maybe late at night but, for the most part, we love it here. This is definitely a neighborhood bar worth visiting. Laid back, not rowdy and everyone is made to feel welcome. Merryweather is a fantastic local spot that just happens to be a tiki bar but tucked right in the middle of a neighborhood. The bartenders are excellent, and the drinks are a total blast. They put their spin on tiki classics. Try the pandan painkiller if you want a creamy almond forward drink. If you love sweet, and fruity tiki drinks, this is the place to go if you're in Germantown. They do them well and that's exactly why I love it. read more

Every time I go to the Merryweather I wind up having such a good time. The staff is awesome - they know they're stuff, their quick, polite, down-to-earth and always have something fun playing on the TVs and speakers. I personally just love the indoor space - moody, dark, always filled with interesting people. I never have problem striking up a conversation and nine times out of ten, it's a really good one. I honestly find that rare nowadays. The ghost kitchen might be my favorite part. I recently finally got Gladwell's wings at their Sunday pop-up. DELICIOUS. Well cooked, generesouly sauced. Tender chicken, but with hints of crispy edges. The buffalo garlic sauce was perfection, unique in that it had a little more depth in the flavor than a typicaly buffalo, but not so far off that you're missing out on good ol' fashioned bar eats. read more

Recently attended this bar for a photo shoot related to a wedding. It was a decent hang out. The decor of the establishment was different an unique. As I was there before prime time, it might be worth a repeat visit to check the place out. If your ever in the area, consider it worth an investigation. read more

I have previously left a review but I'm not seeing it on Google Reviews anymore... so I'll leave it here. This from about a year ago and was worst experience I have ever had at a bar before. I was having a send off night and my friends paid for most of my drinks, however I did pay for one gin and tonic. By the end of the night I went to close out my tab and pay. The bartender, Matty, promptly accused me of not tipping, but I know for a fact that I tipped because I had to do mental math for his 20% tip as the only tip options on the card reader were 25%, 30%, and 35%... which I'm not sure a $4 gin and tonic (a drink with every ingredient in the name) deserved. Despite knowing I had tipped, he continued to accuse me of not tipping this week or the weekend before. I was certain I tipped, but he was getting hostile, so I decided to pay, to which he responded "yeah you better pay brokie". I was appalled and immediately put my card away to leave the bar. Be began to hurl names at me and said he would "kick my a** out" if I attempted to return. I left the building and saw him run out of the bar, and the bouncer then had to hold him back as he continued to cuss at me. The bouncer just urged me to ignore him, as if that was possible. When I got in friends car to go home, I was told about how the bartender, Matty, had taken numerous shots with patrons. So I was chased out of the bar by a beligerante, drunk, lying ginger, man. Honestly hadn't been back here since it had been the Lydia House. I had been following them on social media but hadn't had the chance to visit. We came on a weekday after work to get drinks. It wasn't all that busy indoors. A few groups sat outside. I got the Fuzzy in Kentucky. It's peach with Heaven Hill bourbon. Refreshing! My friends got the Hibiscus G&T and the tiki (not sure which flavor was on tap). Not bad prices for happy hour! They do have food here. I got sliders since I was hungry. Very good and flavorful! Much better than standard sliders. I'd come back just to hang! It's a chill space and isn't super popular. Hipsters paradise! read more

The Merryweather was our pick for Thanksgiving Eve. Friendly and attentive bartenders, and one of the best old fashioned I've had in a long time. Great price too! Indoor seating is limited but we found a couple of seats on the patio. The good news was heat lamps were on the perimeters of the patio but it does expose you to smoking. The patio was fairly busy by 8p. The Merryweather invites several food pop ups. Follow them on social media to keep up with menus and events. read more

She came in for trivia night which was challenging and fine, but the house cocktail specials are awesome and the food pop ups are tremendous! I got wings and fries and they were super good. I've been there before for pop ups but this one was exceptional! It's a fun casual bar. Hard-to-argue with what's going on at the MerryWeather. My barber tipped me to this Schnitzelburg bar...and boy am I ever grateful! Ticks pretty much every "box" that works for me - unassuming, neighborhood feel but not "exclusive", up-to-date but also feels like its been there forever, wide variety cocktail program and also "the basics". Does the "something for everyone" thing without suffering the usual fate of such a concept - "nothing for anyone". Vibe is very, very chill. Lots of good conversations happening in there when we stopped in. Our visit was fairly early on a Monday (for their "Blue Monday" industry/bitters specials) so not really sure what happens if/when things are "rolling". Bartender was game for whatever we threw at her. We started with some house made coconut infused Campari shots and moved through a couple signature cocktails. No "harrumphs" at our exploratory orders (which is sadly not always the case when visiting a new place). Everything was delicious, and reasonably priced. Apparently they have a rotating food service there...check their socials for who's providing grub on any given day. Looks like they have some tasty treats in there fairly regularly. What a grand opening! I was a diehard Lydia House fan and mourned the loss of my favorite brunch and hangover recovery spot. But then I heard it wasn't just going to sit vacant. It was swiftly to turn in to The MerryWeather. There are plenty of bars in the neighborhood, but I am always down for another. Spread the love, man! Yesterday was their grand opening and I wasn't going to wait to pay them a visit. I wanted to see the space! It is dark and warm and cozy inside with a long bar, booths across from that, a small stage, a room with pinball machines, and the dope AF patio. There is a small menu of special cocktails, house special shots (that peanut butter shot served with a gummy candy is...an experience. Not one that I loved...but something one should try at least once!), local beers on tap, a decent selection of beer in cans and bottles, and for you masochists out there...chilled Malort. There are also some small bites on the back of the menu. It isn't going to break the bank either, thank god. I started with a cocktail (Singapore Sling), got a beer for a friend, and got a Bubbles when I was closing out my tab. My grand total was $18. Not to shabby, especially considering the cocktail. They were a bit short-staffed, but it was opening night and very busy. I'm sure the kinks will be smoothed out in no time. They have a good sounding happy hour: every day 3-8pm. And everyday but Sunday they'll be showing Jeopardy (this self-described nerd girl LOVES that!). I assure you, I will be back. And often at that. read more

I always love Merryweather. I love seeing their food pop ups and specials. I love their drink menu. I finally was able to venture out this past weekend to try their brunch. We sat on the enclosed patio under a heater and in the sun. It felt glorious. You order your food at the kitchen window but a server comes out to take your drink orders. The drinks were amazing. I had the bourbon ice coffee and my date had an amazing Bloody Mary. I tricked him into getting malort which is always a fun activity. 10/10 to Merryweather. Brunch was just so so but their upcoming Korean dinner menu that evening looked amazing. read more

This bar is Germantown Neighbourhood. When you come from outside it looks like normal place but when you enter inside you can the charm of this place. They have all kinds of drink but my favorite is Swamp Thing cocktail, it is rum based cocktail you must try. All bartenders are so friendly. They also have food menu and you can pick up food from kitchen counter. Wide patio area where you can chill, drink and relax. The bar is dog friendly. They have trivia nights on Wednesday and Karaoke nights on Thursday (check with event list). Overall very very welcoming, and cool vibe bar. read more

For the record, I did NOT like Lydia House. I dont know what kind of weirdo hippy BS they were doing but everything, from the food, to the service, to the interior, was just awful. So you can imagine my hesitation about coming to the same location - albeit under a new name, Merryweather. Well, WOW I was not prepared for what greeted me when I walked in. First off the space has been totally transformed - instead of a weird hodgepodge of uncomfortable furniture, there are now these lovely booths to sit at. The paint has been darkened and the lighting is dim and sexy. It really reminds me of a vintage 1940's bar. BUT WAIT IT GETS BETTER. The reason I was there in the first place was that they were having a "Ramen Pop Up" - which was too interesting and wild to not go and check out. And I was absolutely delighted by my order. I got the Karaage Tori Paitan - which was chicken shio ramen, shoyu egg, green onion, duck fat aroma oil, and japanese fried chicken. Simply incredible. Service was great considering how busy it was, and although I didnt get a booth i managed to squeeze in at the bar. Apparently they do quite a few pop ups? I am intrigued and excited if they are all like this! My only complaint is that the space is very small, which is great if you are wanting a quiet, intimate place to have a drink, but in the winter when no outside space is available it gets very crowded fast. I popped in here for an Old Fashioned to celebrate my last day of work. I stopped in right as they opened on a weekday. Needless to say, the place was pretty empty. Even so, a few people came in throughout the duration of my visit. The Old Fashioned was strong and reasonably priced. The bartender that assisted me was pleasant and helpful without being too chatty. The decor in the MerryWeather is perfect for a neighborhood bar. It feels cozy and separate from its previous establishment (Lydia House). I hear the patio is lovely, but I didn't make it out there. I'll gladly return, though! Loved it! Gives off dive bar vibes and I loved it! Excellent drinks and delicious food! I recommend going early if you plan on eating and hanging out for drinks. Food eventually sells out and the tables fill up the later it gets. I recommend the margarita (no matter the flavor) and the PB&J shot! I've never had anything like either. This was my first time here since it was The Lydia House. It appears to be a cozy neighborhood bar in the now popular Germantown neighborhood. Although they don't seem to have much in the way of stout or porter beers they did have Guinness. For $5 that was quite reasonable. Service was friendly and courteous. This isn't so much a review of The Merryweather as it is a review of the River City Supper Club pop-up fish fry they are having on Fridays during Lent. Having recently moved back to Louisville with my SF Bay Area-raised husband, I wanted to introduce him to the Friday fish fry, and we started with this one. It wasn't the most traditional choice, being at a bar as opposed to a church, but it was SO DELICIOUS. Seriously, some of the most delicious fried fish, hush puppies and coleslaw I've ever had. I can't believe it was only $12. We both ordered the same combo and we both loved it. I washed mine down with a hibiscus gin & tonic based on another reviewer's recommendation and it was great, as well. There's even a bar kitty! When Jeopardy came on, the bar turned into a Jeopardy viewing party. Unexpected, but charming. read more

We've been to the Merryweather twice for pop-up nights and both have been great! Love that they partner with different groups to offer dinner. This time we had ramen from Renshoku ramen, which was SO good. It was very crowded and I don't think that many people are meant to fit into a small neighborhood bar. Some seating in the front and a few tables out back. But the food came out quickly and the bar service was efficient. Happy hour is GREAT- until 8, Wells drinks are $3. Awesome deal. The Amaretto Sour was the best I've ever had. read more

We just went back, love love love what they did on their patio. It is super chill, cozy and relaxing. Perfect for a beautiful day. They have corn hole boards. Edison outdoor lights for night time so you can still hang. Great outdoor patio!! Great deal on pitchers of craft beer. They also have food trucks come in and take over their kitchen.
