    Lake Minden

What a great place to get away for a week. Staff is so kind and polite. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Peaceful looking over the reflections of the lake at sunset. Restrooms and showers were very clean.

See the stars..thru the hole in the roof !

A good friend of mine who is a thousand trails RV member suggested that my wife and I spend a few days at this campground and perhaps join up with thousand trails. After spending three days I don't think THAT will be happening! PROs- Staff was very pleasant, poop bags for dogs! CONs- Online photos looked nothing like tha actual place. Those pictures were taken quite a while ago. The place is very run down. There are big holes in the roof of restroom by our site. The ice machine was our of order and looks like it had been for several months AT LEAST. The grounds were poorly maintained. full of weeds and many overgrown areas. The only persons seen doing any type of landscaping were the long term guests who watered their areas to keep "the heat down" The basket ball court had more grass growing on it than lines marked on it. Equipment poorly maintained garbage cans rusted, pipes held to poles by old duct tape, I even talked to one long timer was decided that she was going to personally pay to replace an old dangerous playground with her own money! Interweb access limited to clubhouse. In this day and age, it's ridiculas not to have access at your site. for many sites, you have to cross the entire facility, including a lake to check your email! For the of membership of the group(s) that own this campground, and the price that nonmembers pay, this place should be MUCH nicer. Right now, I would give it dump status

It was a nice neighborhood, the walking path was pretty spacious to walk with the stroller and the lawn was nice but disappointed that there isn't a playground anymore... which is a big reason to visit the park with your kids.

Unfortunately, due to the current drought situation in California, the water fountain was shut off. No splashing around under the dragon spout. It's a beautiful park, but there are miscreants who visit the park, probably at night, that do not have any decency because there was an occasion when a tree was streamed with toilet paper. There are also some people who do not pick up after themselves or their pets. The city provides disposable bags for pet owners and trash bins are around park, yet some do not discard their waste in it including alcohol beverage containers (by the way, alcoholic beverages are not allowed). These are just a few instances. Thankfully, there is a park maintenance worker who comes around during the day and clean up other peoples messes. I come here occasionally to walk around the park and get a little exercise. I do get a weird look sometimes because I'm listening to music and stop abruptly to do a step aerobic routine depending on the song and rhythm. It may look odd, but at least I'm exercising instead of being a miscreant. Keep our park clean, respect the property and appreciate it please!

Reservations are required on weekends, some Fridays, and selected dates. Otherwise, Mon thru Thu are free with no reservations required. Parking available inside is limited so come early to avoid the hassle. I believe they open at 6:30 AM and closing is dependent on sundown. We hiked with our 2 little girls and dogs. Even with the little ones, we were able to make it to the Canyon View Overlook and back. In case your dog needs a bathroom break, bag it up and I recall there was at least one trash can along the path towards the Overlooks. Help keep this hiking gem clean! Scenery was gorgeous, hike was pretty easy without difficulty, and be sure to visit both Overlooks for some beautiful sights. We took the North Legacy Way, in case you're curious. Great for hiking enthusiasts, families, quality time with nature, and perfect for those that want to avoid lots of foot traffic!

I much prefer a reservation system like this because it saves on the stress and time of fighting for parking and an overcrowded park. People who rated this low are just mad because they didn't do research or come prepared. Theres plenty of trail options here but we did the main hidden falls loop trail that was on AllTrails. (Poppy Trail, N Legacy Way, then Hidden Falls Access Trail, total loop about 3.2 miles) It was a beautiful hike with tons of mushrooms everywhere right now, and hidden falls is flowing! Theres two observation decks. I kind of don't like how the deck at hidden falls is right above the falls so it blocks the falls, you have to look down over the rail/ledge, so there's no way you can get a good photo with the falls behind you
