Meh, it's gone downhill but is an ok place if you plan to stay in your campsite. I'd say a good option to evacuate to if you need a place to go short term with your animals. Pros: -Grassy sites. Even if brown grass, it's better than dirt. Doesn't track in like dirt. -Most sites have shade. -Relatively quiet. Most stay in their RV's. -Pretty lake to look at (from afar). Cons: -Not maintained like it used to be: -Prime sites with electrical out of order. -Water supply issues while we were there. -Two of three dump sites out of order! -LOTS of mosquitos and flies. -Lake water is gross - grey/green opaque. I would not swim or eat fish from that! Can't see more than a couple inches down. -Surrounded by farmlands with active irrigation and farming. Means the low hum of equipment and humidity. -With grass comes mowing - while you're cooking and eating breakfast. Nice grassy dusty breakfast. :-/ I guess it has to be done sometime. -Seems to be mostly resident occupants or full time RVers. Few vacation campers. -Sewer/50 amp sites are few and very small (skinny). Mostly unavailable when we have gone there. -Gates left open and no one at gatehouse to meter entry. There were a couple weird people approaching guests. We would have been better off braving the smoke at Lake of the Springs. Would have had a better time. read more

Summer or Winter, this is a nice vacation, only 1.5hrs from the bay. From 4yo-70yo, B-I-N-G-O was a big hit.We had a nice sunny day and played miniature golf. Ice cream social was perfect after beating the boys, even after cheating to try and win. hahaha. My kids really love spending time with their grandparents. They think this is "one" of their cool homes. You can fish, boat, run/walk around the lake, or enjoy your cabin by the lake. We are planning a group camping with our friends in the summer. If you're not a camper, don't fret. There are cabins for rent, hot showers, tvs, pool area, adult lounge, etc. It's a nice little vacation, you just have to love nature and the views. read more

We had purchased a Temporary Membership pass for Thousand Trails and spent our first member weekend at Lake Minden with our children and grandchildren. Together, we had 2 travel trailers and 2 large tents. First let me warn you about the mosquitoes. Even after using several insect repellents and citronella candles we had to stop on the way home to buy anti-itch creams and antihistamines for everyone. OMG! I have never seen so many mosquitoes! There is a sign at the office warning that they are spraying, but they must have missed our area. I would expect to be treated to perks for being a member, yet, other than the reduced fishing fee, I found none. Yes, they called that the "reduced fee!" Overall, I could actually like this place a lot except..... Did I mention the mosquitoes? Pros: The small office/store offers the necessities like bait, ice, and soda. There are small boat rentals available, it's bicycle friendly and very walkable. Dated, but really pretty setting amongst orchards and the sunsets are amazing. RV sites are adequate in size and level. Roads are nicely graveled. Cons: Certain parts of the facility are old and outdated. Landscape and maintenance is barely passable. No swimming pool. The lake is a very odd color not appealing to swim. Several sites had permanent looking RVs with very messy sites. Fishing is $5.00 per day per person (children too) so for our family the fishing passes were going to be $40 x 3 days. $120 for fishing! So we just bought for the grandkids. Dock and good fishing places all taken up by locals. Accidently encountered a family with a Pitbull in a space across from the restroom. Not cool! There were some less than desirable looking guests. Store was closed at 4:00PM (Brochure stated 6:00PM) Movie night was cancelled while we were there. read more

We (6 adults) made this our half way stop on the way to Disneyland (June 2013). We were looking for a cheap place to sleep. Pro(s): *Beautiful lake!! We are thousand trail members so it was only $3 for my mom and I to rent a kayak for an hour. Can't beat that price! The lake was SUPER warm too. Some kids were swimming in it, I wouldn't. They even had a beach/swimming area on both sides. *The "club house" is awesome! Wifi in the adult lounge and a big TV with couches in the family side. They even had a foose (sp?) ball table. *The garden home had a nice kitchen, fully stocked! Con(s): *No wifi at your site. *The garden house does not sleep 6 adults. It sleeps four adults, and two need to sleep on the small remaining space on the floor. The bunk beds are super shaky, I don't know if I'd even put a kid on it. *Customer service STINKS! The guy at the counter complained about his boss, and was not friendly. We requested sheets and he didn't bring them to our rental until well after 930pm... After a long day in the car, that's past bedtime. *Nothing around there for dinner. We went to the absolute shady-est mini mart known to man about a mile down the road and bought a few things to make dinner. No restaurants though. Overall it was clean and it served it's purpose as a place to stay for the night. I would not stay in the garden home next time (even though the price was under $80), I'd try two cabins, or even a tent! Hopefully the customer service will increase next time as well. read more

I am fairly new at RV park visits but, so far my family and I are very pleased with Lake Minden. The positive: 1st and most importantly the staff here are super nice and very prompt. All the facilities are really clean and consistently so. It's quiet and green all around. There are some nice litte beach areas big enough to accommodate swimmers and children for play. I personally don't fish but i've run across several satisfied fisherman, and there is plenty of room for everyone! They have special events happening all the time for adults and children including but not limited to: kayaking, paddle boats, clowns, movies at the lodge, mini golf, fishing tournaments, RC racing events, and much more! The country store is equipped well with friendly staff and RV accessories as well as basic grocery needs. There is a gas station/convenience store just down the road from the the park where you can purchase beer and all that other stuff thats not as important ; ) The negative: The road that wraps around the lake is a little small and tuff to share as a pedestrian vs vehicle. It only goes in one direction so if you miss your stop round you go again. Although, if you're doing the 5 mph speed limit you should be ok. The sprinklers can and will be left on all night from time to time which doesn't help the mosquito infestation. There is a ton of spiders everywhere but nothing unmanageable within the campgrounds. Just be sure to bring your bug spray, after all you are camping! read more

A good friend of mine who is a thousand trails RV member suggested that my wife and I spend a few days at this campground and perhaps join up with thousand trails. After spending three days I don't think THAT will be happening! PROs- Staff was very pleasant, poop bags for dogs! CONs- Online photos looked nothing like tha actual place. Those pictures were taken quite a while ago. The place is very run down. There are big holes in the roof of restroom by our site. The ice machine was our of order and looks like it had been for several months AT LEAST. The grounds were poorly maintained. full of weeds and many overgrown areas. The only persons seen doing any type of landscaping were the long term guests who watered their areas to keep "the heat down" The basket ball court had more grass growing on it than lines marked on it. Equipment poorly maintained garbage cans rusted, pipes held to poles by old duct tape, I even talked to one long timer was decided that she was going to personally pay to replace an old dangerous playground with her own money! Interweb access limited to clubhouse. In this day and age, it's ridiculas not to have access at your site. for many sites, you have to cross the entire facility, including a lake to check your email! For the of membership of the group(s) that own this campground, and the price that nonmembers pay, this place should be MUCH nicer. Right now, I would give it dump status read more

This campgroup is pretty average. Pros: Lots of shady spots Friendly workers Spots in D sections are large Clean restrooms Quiet Paddle boat rentals Cons: During the summer it is hot hot hot! No pool (I know there's a lake, but there are no chairs to sit at and only one small section of beach) Electric is pretty awful. Can't run my fridge and AC at the same time even when using a booster. Larger spots have no sewer, only a dump station. (Unlike another reviwer, we were told we could dump whenever and as often as we needed) From what I could see, other campers were your typical full time rv'ers or families. The heat or the biting bugs are not their fault.... but in the Summer it is HOT HOT HOT with no evening relief. No swimming pool, but they do have a lake that is not aerated, so expect a lot of mosquitos in the evening biting the heck out of you. Two weeks and I'm still scratching. The sites are very, very small.... very strict rules about the septic also: some sites can dump on M, W, F and others on T, Th, Sat with NOT DUMPIING on SUNDAY. We arrived on Friday and picked a site that allowed M, W, F only, which mean we got to travel home on Sunday with a full load. Not too nice. They DO NOT ASSIGN YOUR SITE AND YOU CANNOT REQUEST ONE. It is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. Good luck if you want any shade... those spots will be gone when you arrive. They are open to non Thousand Trail members and members, even though you pay dues and paid $$$ up front you are treated the same as if you camp once a year with no membership. The guy that checked us in was an older guy and he was a MAJOR GRUMP! His attitude was so bad!!! I took him with a grain of salt, thinking his sense of humor was just very dry, but then I heard the way he talked to some other visitor. Holey Cow, he was down right crotchety. We will never come back to this park...... read more

My husband belongs to an R/C Boat Racing group and we race here at Lake Minden Resort several times every year. We have been going here for probably 12 years now. When we first started going, we would rent one of their trailers, then moved up to a garden home, and later purchased an RV and camp with that. We have also tent camped there. I have to say that their campground bathrooms are the CLEANEST bathrooms I have ever used in a campground. I think they clean them every 30-60 minutes. The staff there are extremely friendly & helpful. We have so much fun going there. the only downside is sometimes getting chigger bites or mosquito bites but hey, it's camping...and that happens. This place has fun events going on all the time, lots of fun activities to keep the kids busy and even bingo for the adults. My husband never played bingo before and tried it for the first time at Lake Minden...so much fun! If you're looking for a fun campground to go to with lots to do, Lake Minden is your place! They have a little man made beach, a small lake you can fish, ride paddle boats, watch the r/c boats, and I think they even have real boat races there sometimes. There's a little store, snack bar, and arcade and lounge. Plenty to do! Go check it out! read more

Cob webs and bugs everywhere, both inside and out! A/C didn't work in main room of unit #27, on a 100 degree day!TV also did not work! Gave 2 of us a large unit with enough room for 5 and we paid for it. Could have given us a smaller unit or told us no small units available. July 2017 Update - I booked a cottage for two days because my first experience had been great. I am sorry to say this place has gone downhill. First, instead of a cottage I got a mobile home which should be condemned. One of the circuit breakers had to be reset about every 15 minutes and we couldn't get the wall AC on one side to stay on or the refrigerator. We finally turned everything else off to keep it from tripping. There was a leak under the sink and rather than fixing it they just placed a plastic bin to catch the water. The kitchen cabinets were greasy, grimy, old and disgusting. Before arriving I had received a call from Gwen offering another cottage because one of the panes on the sliding glass door was broken. We agreed that I would look at both and then decide upon arrival. When I got there Sonia, who was managing the front office claimed that I had selected the mobile home and that nothing else was available. She kept asking for Maria and appeared incapable of making any decision on her own. The next morning we stepped out for a walk and when we returned the lock was stuck and we could not get back in. I also noticed there was a wire hanger that had been extended out with a hook on one end lying next to my car. I went to the office to inform them about the lock and the hanger next to my car. Sonia acted as if I didn't know how to use a key and kept insisting it was the sliding glass door even after I repeatedly told her it was the front door and not the slider. 2 hours and 4 employees later a guy shows up with a hammer, but decides to pry a window open instead of breaking it to get in. By this time we were anxious to just pack up and leave. I asked Sonia for a refund on the second night's stay and she claimed she couldn't help us and that the Manager was in a meeting for at least an hour! Maria came to the rescue and said she would talk to Sonia. Maria came back with a refund and we were happy to just leave. I don't plan on ever going back. It's obvious the front office doesn't care about their guests. The grounds are not well maintained and this looks more like a run down mobile home park than an RV "resort". My original review: This was my first time renting a cabin and I wasn't sure what to expect so I only reserved the cabin for 2 nights. I went there with my young adult daughter and her best friend. We all enjoyed our vacation and would return in the future. The pros: The staff at the resort are all very nice and helpful with one exception. One of the guys at the main gate seems a bit sour and not big on customer service. There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained throughout the day. We rented a paddle boat for $3 an hour. There were potlucks scheduled on the days we were there, but after seeing some of the guests we opted not to participate. I'll get to that on the cons. The cabin was well equipped, clean and the air conditioner kept it nice and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed a front view of the lake from our cabin. The fishing seems great. It's $10 to buy a license and it seems the fish are plentiful. The first day we arrived we saw a guy taking his picture with the biggest catfish I've ever seen. He said he had just caught 3. The cons: Many of the guests were downright weird. I don't know if our visit coincided with a Klan Rally or the taping of a Jerry Springer episode, but we did not feel comfortable around some of them. That was one reason we didn't attend the potluck. However, there were at least 25% percent of the guests who were nice and normal. This in no way reflects on the resort or the staff, so I am still giving them 4 stars. Another con was the bunk bed. The ladder was held up by the dresser and didn't feel very sturdy climbing it. The cabin I rented was supposed to sleep 5, but that would've been a bit tight. I think 4 is more reasonable and you would have to move the dresser that's holding up the ladder to the bunk bed to open up the sofa bed. Overall, the best recommendation I can give it is that I will definitely return. It is only an hour drive from Sacramento and makes a perfect, quick getaway, for a very reasonable cost. read more

I found the RV Park on the web. The pictures looked wonderful so our family started the conversation about camping here Memorial weekend. I happened to be driving through the area today and decided to stop by to "pick the perfect spot". Thank god I did. This place needs a lot of maintenance and/or management change. The kids playground is a joke. All the grass areas needed to be mowed and weed wacked. The grass was a foot tall and the weeds were two feet tall. There is no excuse for this. The bathrooms are in single wide trailers and are in need of paint and repair. Also, I know that many people need affordable places to live, but if you are going to allow people to live in your park, you should have standards and enforce them. When I go on vacation, I want a clean, safe place to bring my family and unfortunately your facility is not there right now. read more

Its an ok park been to many TT being an elite member not crazy about only W/E site very limited FHU but even then there are length restrictions and you can only dump every other day no using you're own W&D staff seemed to be nice the week we were here the RC boat races and non members were parking everywhere and we had to set up in the back because non members were parking in the lake side spots with there cars all in all not a bad park but they definitely needs to improve some read more

I rented a "cabin" on line & followed up by phone. My reservation for a week in a "cabin" for June 1-8, 2014 was confirmed. I was extremely disappointed when I arrived and found that the "cabin" was actually an old trailer house that was located next to new portable cabins that they were in the process of "setting up"-- There were several workers that arrived each morning at 6 am & sawed, hammered, etc until 6 pm. I asked to be moved but I was told by a VERY RUDE man at thefront desk that there was nothing else available. (During my stay, I noticed several vacancies all around me.) Lake Minden is a nice Recreation Park. I have family that live nearby, and I enjoyed their visits while I was there, If my rental had actually been one of the cabins that are located near the old trailer that I stayed in, I would like to stay there again. read more

This is a Thousand Trails Resort, and we booked last minute and we wanted something close to home. Lake Minden appeared to be very nice and reviews were good. I am really big on service. I treat people politely, and kindly in every circumstance. I work with the public and I know how trying customers can be, so I make a conscious effort not to be "that" customer. Upon arriving on a Friday evening at 7:10pm, we pulled in to find the entrance gates down and no one manning the entrance kiosk, and no instructions on how to enter. We could hear people talking on a walkie-talkie located at the kiosk, so after several minutes waiting for someone to come, I climbed out of the motor home into 100 degree heat, and began walking across the parking lot to get to the store. I hadn't gone 10 steps when a voice came over an intercom and my husband was allowed access. While he parked the motor home I walked into the store to get vehicle tags my sister said was required to be in the campground. She and her husband had arrived earlier, and paid for our spot. I entered the store and there was a young woman talking on her phone and a man behind the counter. She was having difficulty with her phone service and she suggested the man help me first. I stepped up to the counter and said "Hi my name is Susie _____ and my sister arrived earlier and said we were in 8 and 9 and I needed to stop here first to get paperwork to enter." He looked at me and grunted "8 and 9 what?" I said "I'm sorry, we have never been here, we are in sites 8 and 9, she came in earlier and paid for our sites and told me I had to stop here first to get paperwork to enter the resort." The conversation went downhill from there. He was the most incredibly rude, sour jerk I have ever encountered. He asked my name and I gave it. He found my name on a list and said, "She only paid for 1 site so you can't have 2." I told him she was under a different last name, and I gave him her last name. He found her last name and said "Yeah she is here, she has your stuff." I told him again that she was told that I had to pick up my tag to put in the window of our motor home at the store when we arrived. He shrugged his shoulders held up his hands and said "Well it's not here, I don't have it." I repeated what I was told and he finally gave in and printed the necessary paperwork, shoved it across the desk and said "Here". No helping us with the map or explaining anything. We bought a bag of ice, and left. We got back in our rig, and started down what we thought was the right road, but there were no site numbers that we could see so we turned around and went back to the parking lot to try and figure out the map, which we did. We were headed the right way to begin with so off we went again. We arrived at out spot, and set up camp. The resort was clean, but not very much shade. Within an hour, the mosquitoes came, I am familiar with the area and came prepared with bug spray, but it was so hot and the mosquitoes were in swarms so we opted to hang out inside with the AC. The next day we woke and my sister showed me the 20+ mosquito bites on her legs that she got just from letting her dog out to potty in the middle of the night. The "Lake" is an over-sized pond with warm, green, murky water, and very uninviting. No one was swimming in the water even though it was another 100 degree day, go figure. I am a water baby and I will swim in almost anything, but I wouldn't even put my big toe in that funky water, and the thought of eating fish that came from it turns my stomach. My sister put her feet in and said it was bathwater warm, and felt disgusting. The mosquitoes were biting again all through the day and we spent our day inside. I am a seasoned camper and am fully aware of the unpleasant aspects of bugs, heat, and dirt but this was overkill. To be perfectly honest, I maybe could have overlooked all of the the dirt, bugs and heat had I not been treated like a second class citizen by the bearded, gray haired man behind the counter. We were considering buying a camping membership to Thousand Trails, but not anymore if that is the kind of service they promote. read more

I've been to Lake Minden for two years in a row now. Both times I've gone were on the 4th of July weekends. They had a nice firework show on July 3rd both years. The bathrooms weren't clean but bathrooms are rarely clean in huge public places (especially on holiday weekends) Since we had such a great time last year we decided to do it again this year and we were all excited. Our family has a lot of kids so we were really looking forward to it, however, this year one of the employees treated us very rudely. I have never come across such an unprofessional before. We went to reserve 3 spots (not cabins) for camping and specifically asked if there were electric ports that we could use. The employee said yes so we went ahead and reserved it. Apparently we were not allowed to use the electricity and water ports that were there and were given a warning in the day to stop immediate use. The thing is, the warning was given to one of my in laws that did not understand what the employee was talking about. So we kept using the electric and water ports and then another employee came at night and he yelled at us for using the ports and disconnected everything. I was asleep and he literally woke me up with his yelling. I understand that he had warned us (but none of us knew because he told one of laws) but he had absolutely NO reason for yelling like that. All of us got mad at the fact that he acted so rude to us, ANYONE would be mad if they were yelled at like that. If we knew that we were not allowed to use the electric and water ports we would NEVER go to camp there to begin with! Two of my nieces are disabled and use electric wheelchairs to move around so we have to charge them during the day so that's why we specifically asked BEFORE we made the reservation if there was electricity available to us. We used it last year, why did they make such a big deal about it this year? Why did the employee at the front desk say it WAS available? This was very upsetting, I would've given 4 stars if it weren't for this misinformation/rudeness that we encountered. read more

We called 530-656-2700 to ask about fireworks for tonight 7/3/17 & a male guy who answered the phone was so rude, argumentative, nasty & plain inconsiderate with NO customer service skills AT ALL! I've never had such bad customer service. Telling us that he's too busy to talk to us, & that he "didn't have time to answer our questions, he has a lot to do & doesn't have time to talk to us!" All of which our question would've been answered in 2 seconds if he would've let us talk. He would not give us his name after asking for it multiple times. He hung up on us 4 times intentionally too. Horrible experience. Called back again which no one answered the phone. Took 3 times more until a very polite young lady named Rachel with great customer service answered. We asked what the guy's name was, which she was hesitant, but than told us his name was Dylan. Rachel helped to answer all our questions. However, Dylan ruined our family fun orientated night to go to the facility to watch fireworks because of his horrible customer service & people skills. Now we don't even want to go to the event tonight. His manager & owners will be contacted. Plus the way he talked to us he needs to get written up & go to anger management!! Stayed for 3 nights, bugs are bad and the lake is dirty! Would never swim in this or let my kids if they were with us! The office is only open till 4 so if you want to try and enjoy the this to do here better do it before then. We paid the same price for our cabin that our friends did with 5 people, they couldn't put us in something smaller and cheaper?! The ac in the main part of the cabin didn't work so we had to stay in the bedroom to stay cool and the TV didn't work. There were dead bugs and spider webs all over our cabin. The sheets for our bed didn't fit so we were pulling them back and forth.On the plus side there was a clean shower in our cabin. We will never stay here again, I can't believe Thousand Oaks represent this place! read more

We have stayed at Lake Minden several times. We stayed in the cabins. Love the place. We have celebrated my daughters 12th and 13th birthday there and it was so much fun for the girls. Lots to do, including minature golf, clubhouse, volleyball, swimming, paddle boats and just a great atmosphere. When the girls were busy having ice cream we went fishing at night. So much fun! I didn't but my husband and son caught quite a few fish and we had a very memorable evening. The staff is great, especially a ranger named Russell. He was helpful and attentive. What a great place to spend family time. Good job Lake Minden. Also, we had a blast celebrating our 4th of July there too. They had so much to do, including a great fireworks display. Take your family there, enjoy birthdays too. read more

We were a bit Leary about coming here based on on-line reviews and comments from other rv'ers. But our philosophy is to never judge a book by its cover and to form our own opinions. Well, I wish we would have listened to other campers and reviews. The staff is friendly but the park is very run down. There are only 2 sections open this time of year (A & D). We were told we could not go into A section as construction crews were going to arrive any day to fix some things. Section A is the only place with hook ups and those hook ups are on a rotating basis but they are free. Anywhere else in the park you have to pay the Honey a Wagon (aka turd farmer) $25 every time you want to drain grey and/or black water. Well we have been here for one week and no construction crews have come and new people are in spots in section A. I feel as if we were lied to to keep those spots open for paying customers ( we are TT members). Our neighbors said the office has been telling members the same thing since last summer! We stayed in section D where most of the rv's here look as if they live here full time. A couple of trailers look older than 30 years old and have no tags or plates on them! It rained very hard for 2 of the days we stayed and our site was so flooded we could barely get out of our trailer without stepping in ankle deep water. I really wish NACO would take better care of their parks and I would not recommend Lake Minden to anyone! Only 1 laundry room with 4 washing machines and 1 was broken.
