If I could give zero stars, I would. Thousand Trails Lake Minden is very rundown. Immediately upon arrival at this so-called "resort," you can see the neglect from the outset. Their main sign is faded and sunburned, looking like it's from 1970. The roads are riddled with potholes, none of which are paved. It's clear the maintenance of this property has been ignored for years. The "resort" advertises full hookups, but the reality is they have about 20 full hookup sites that can't accommodate RVs over 35 feet. My 40-foot RV doesn't fit, so I'm forced to drive around the lake to the non-hookup section, which only has water and power. To dump your tanks, you have to make trips to the dump station--hardly convenient for a place claiming to be a resort. I paid $10,000 for a lifetime membership that allows me to stay at Thousand Trails properties for 21 days at a time. My mistake was not visiting any of their locations before making this purchase. I strongly urge anyone considering a Thousand Trails membership to visit several of their properties first--it will likely change your mind. Lake Minden is no better than other Thousand Trails locations, and in fact, I'd rank it among the worst. As a full-time RVer, I'm stuck here for the 21-day maximum, and once that's up, I'm forced to relocate two hours away to their next nearest property, Ponderosa. I'll review that location when I arrive, but I don't have high expectations. What's most frustrating is the blatant contradiction between their claims and reality. They require age-appropriate RVs for members, yet I'm parked next to a 20-year-old RV with a blue tarp on the roof. The facility is so poorly maintained it's a stretch to even call it a campground, let alone a resort. My regret for buying a Thousand Trails lifetime membership is astronomical. If I knew then what I know now, I would never have spent a dime. Thousand Trails should be ashamed to call themselves a resort. Lake Minden, like many of their properties, is nothing more than a run-down trailer park.

Lake Minden TT is less than 25 miles from Sacramento and 20 miles from Yuba City.

Update: I'm hearing from others TT Members the concern that Thousand Trails is letting full-time campers get out of hand. This makes it much harder for those who just want to camp (rather than live) in TT campgrounds to get reservations. During our stay we were surprised to see the school bus stops here to pick up children of families who appear to be living here instead of camping. This is a problem we've seen at other TT campgrounds. If folks want to live in their RV in a stationary location, they should look for mobile home parks or other places intended for full-time living, rather than over-stressing campgrounds intended for camping. Based on the lack of availability for members, I've lowered my rating to 2 stars. I'm not sure why folks have not left better reviews of this quiet, peaceful little Campground. Like many TT campgrounds, the facilities could use improvement, but here they are working on the sites by leveling and putting gravel down. The sites are not super large, but they have water-electric-sewer in area A and water-electric in area D. The Campground surrounds a small lake and has lots of recreational facilities (see photos), restrooms and laundry facilities. WiFi is available at the Lodge (I'm still baffled at why Thousand Trails has not gotten with the program by providing good WiFi service throughout their Campgrounds. With so many full-timers camping in the TT system, WiFi is as necessary as the utilities. They must address this weakness if they want to get the millennial market. This knocked my rating down to The rest of the facilities here are pretty good. There is a family lodge, adult lodge, sports fields (see photos), on-site Cafe (breakfast & lunch) and several park models & cabins for rent. In addition to recreation facilities in photos there are tennis/pickle ball courts. Most sites are back-in only and the large area D doesn't have septic, which is a problem for long stays. The lodge area has air hockey, pool tables, a huge lending library, TVs, games & puzzles. The staff was very friendly & helpful, the sites are cozy but adequate, the facilities are dated but functional. The lake and surrounding area is beautiful and quiet. No traffic or airport noise, just the loud honking of geese early in the morning. Thousand Trails members should not bypass this little gem when coming to the Sacramento area. Lake Minden is a nice place to unwind and enjoy some quiet, relaxing downtime.

We had a nice stay at this resort. We came in the late fall and the property was beautiful! We enjoyed our walks along the lake and enjoyed evening sunsets. There are a lot of trees and the spaces were well kept. The lake would not be a place that we would swim in even if it was summer time. We liked all of the little things that the place had; playgrounds for the kiddos swings, mini golf, basketball courts, and plenty of grassy space. I wish it offers wood burning fires. It makes for a cold chilly night without a fire.

It is not often I find myself taking the time to write a review. Neither the good, nor the bad. I rationalize somehow that it just won't matter. Yet, here I am and I promise to keep it brief (ish). My experience goes back quite a ways, and some of the details are foggy now. I remember the scrapping of my trailer on Marcum Road just after leaving the campground. Something had gone terribly wrong, and everyone, literally everyone, was coming to my aid! What a team. The work team consistently provided me with support wherever possible going out of their way to reduce my stress. I now have camped, participated in functions, dabbled in outdoor activities, stayed in Cabins, eaten at the restaurant, washed laundry, showered, even shopped in the country store. While there is always adjustments that can be made for improvements across the board, some projects bigger than others, I will forever remember the people. And so I say Thank you! To Eddie in membership, Steve Jim Ed Robert & Terry in maintenance, Allison Vicky & Cheri in housekeeping, Susie in recreation, Gail & Lynn in ranger station, assistant manager Rachelle, and a special thank you to Nancy at the front desk. It's each of you that I look for when I enter through the Gates of Lake Minden RV Resort. If this message ever finds the Manager or better yet owner, I hope that each member of this team is recognized for the difference they make to each of us that choose to stay at Lake Minden RV Resort.

Well this place doesn't have a lake but a muddy pond and it's not a resort. Section A with full hook ups is only 14' wide so forget about it if you have opposing slides. It's muddy at the site in rainy weather. Section D has wider spots but all you get is 30A and level gravel spot. That's hard with a 50A rig with two AC's in the summertime. It's first come first serve so you might find a tent in a nice big spot by the bathroom and then your stuck on the grass without power. Don't show up after dark because the roads are narrow and have cars parked on them making it tight for bigger rigs to get in. We will not be returning.

This was mine and my husbands first time at thousand trails. We are new RV owners and have never been here. We found this place online and decided to book it because it wasn't too far from home. We paid for it the week before our travels and got a lot space that could fit a 40 foot rv and for full hookups (including 50 Amps). And we were excited to be going here cause it looked nice. Let's fast forward a week. Ok super excited to pack up and head here. So we pull up to this place and we had to check in at the welcome Center. Hubby went in and all of a sudden he was told we dont get a full hookups even tho we made the reservation online by one lady and then all of a sudden another lady pops out and starts saying out loud "don't you know that all thousand trails are first come first serve". It was a very uncomfortable situation, what they fail to tell you online is it's first come first service and the only reason yℴu make reservations is to guarantee yℴu a spot but what spot yℴu get is another story. So after being told we didn't get full hookups we were also told there were maybe 2-3 spots left, hubs asked if they can help us out by drive around with their golf cart to help find us a spot. Instantly he was shut down and told no, that we had to drive around and find a spot for ourself. Geeze really ? We have a 38 foot rv and the roads can be very tight here. And a lot of people park their car in front of their rvs versus parking behind like their suppose to. There is so much potential for this place, but they need to update the grounds a bit more, fix the docks, broken volleyball nets, now the grass and weeds, add some lights, throw a little paint, even the chigga issues in the summer time. And mostly important of all the customer services, listen to what the customers are tell you and showing yℴu in their photos instead of denying everything the customers are saying.

We haven't been here at sunrise, but the sunsets and stars are so beautiful... you can't help but slowly walk out when it is time to go. Lake Theodore is right off the road and not too hard to spot the entrance. For parking, you can park on the side of the road, right up to the entrance. There is a park & route below about 50 yards away, but that's quite a walk. You do go through a swirly gate and down a path, and there is a trail that leads to the back of the lake. There are spots you need to really pay attention to because of rocks and tree roots. Some trees are growing into the path. There is also some scat along the way, but hey! It's nature. What else do you expect! I have yet to take the path all the way around the small lake, but I have gotten halfway. It's easy to get stuck casting in spots because you'll see some big fish swimming by, or we start catching. In this small lake, you can expect to catch big mouth bass, small mouth bass, lots of blue gill, green sun fish, and a few extras swimming around. For us, the most popular bait we use is the natural big earth worms and night crawlers. For the big mouth bass, the seenkos are pretty popular... 3"-4" long (and we use the watermelon ones). I do like to head back to the front before it gets dark. You can see random spiders building their webs as the sun starts to set and heaven forbid I walk through those trees and go through a web and end up with a creepy crawly! I love bugs and fishing... but a random bug will make me shriek bloody murder, lol! When the sun goes down(on my side of town), there are so many stars to look at. Planes mostly fly over from the backside of the lake and those are fun to watch, too. I think we sat one night until 11pm casting and watching the stars. It was nice the moon was not out this particular night because it made it nice and dark and the stars shined so bright... As precautions, I suggest bringing bug spray and sun block. Bring some small collapsible chairs. Stock up on some water or whatever you drink. I easily spend 4+ hours at a time here admiring the beauty of nature. For those of you that know... tight lines!

It's managed by PG&E. The reservoir is a lake with shallow rocky edges. It's just for casting fishing, no humans or animals should go into the water. The access and parking is FREE. And as always, anglers 16 and older need a CA fishing license to fish. I didn't fish here. I looked about and soaked in the sights though. It was rusticly beautiful. However the perimeter doesn't have any shade trees. But vibes were super quiet, I call it library fishing. Shhhh. As I walked about the perimeter of the lake, I noticed folks were quiet even amongst their own groups. Even the elementary school age children there were super quiet. An incredible feat. QuietPlace. And about the fishing situation, not much luck with the anglers that day. Stock was low. Near the parking lot is a short concrete pier with fishing rod holders. This is closest to the water shed. The picnic area is across the watershed. To get to the area from the parking lot, you will have to walk, on a narrow steel grate walkway, over the watershed. The rushing water provides for a dizzying visual effect. The picnic area is set back enough from the lake so if you bring the kiddos, this is the area where they can go about hooting n hollering. The area has 3-4 concrete picnic tables and a several bbq pits. It's first come, first serve. This area is not paved, dirt packed; shaded with big growth trees. Plus let me tell you I learned the hard way that the walking path doesn't connect fully around the lake. I don't recommend attempting the mythical loop. The path is mostly gravel with the other parts being dirt. Watch where you step; there was a lot of poop along the trail. There is a stretch of the path that ends and funnels you out to the narrow bike lane on Christian Valley Road near Bancroft Road. There is no adjacent room to the side of the bike lane, only a chain link fence. Cars are going 50plus miles a hour inches away from you; and they are on a curve. So wait until traffic clears for a significant distance to hightail yourself across that stretch which runs about 50 feet. Don't try to walk with cars coming at you; don't risk getting impaled by a side view mirror or worse. There is a paved parking lot and a public restrooms with vault toilets. Sorry ladies, I can't provide any additional info about the restrooms. As always, I try my best to avoid public park restrooms. But at least they have a restrooms.
