    Sprague's Lobster - Sprague's Lobster

Frank, Linda, Alicia and the rest of their wonderful family (and friends) serve excellent lobster and crab rolls, with the same lobster as that place across the street, but the difference-maker the rolls that are butter-crisped on both sides, giving them some delightful added crunch. I get them with mayo and butter on the side and add as I like. (I read the review that said that they "only serve clarified butter"...really?) I usually get the lobster dinner, once or twice per day. A lb of steamers or mussels, a whole lobster, Cole slaw, corn and dinner roll. Absolutely delicious food at its peak of freshness, served dockside beside the Sheepscot River where you enjoy spectacular scenery in the company of other really nice people with a similar taste in great food. And they serve the delicious locally-made Gifford's ice cream for after your dinner. I've never been disappointed, and I've already made my reservations for the same condo next year when I will enjoy Sprague's once again.

A lot of reviews are from people who came here because they didn't want to wait in the long line for the place across the street and they said the lobster roll here was good. We wanted our review to be fully informed, so we got a lobster roll here and we also got one from the place across the street. While the line across the street is absurdly and unnecessarily long, we've determined now that that place is famous for a reason. Prices are the same, high $30s. The actual lobster was fine at Sprague's, comparable to the place across the street. The butter though was not even a competition. I don't know how they do it, but the butter from the place across the street was just so much better. Sprague's butter just did nothing for the lobster roll. It was clear and just looked like clarified butter. Do with this information what you will.

I'm transported into a vortex of restaurant going people stuffing crustations down their grills snug in their catacomb tables, lending me to the unproven knowledge to this toil - or so it seems, that when we all eat, we might be missing a lot of what's happened to bring this meal to you. We foodies seem to always get our way - in the federal penitentiary, you never get your way, you NEVER get your (Fing) way - so please, understand that eighty five percent of the world would kill for our problems. . The frenzy and attention to the meal without the background, I think about and behaviors aren't quite unlike the gulls in the big box store lots atop the light posts, what the people do here with their face gullets plunging down and their feeding frenzies of cheap one liners. The gulls are missing their experiences because they're no longer down by the dock, they're inland - they're in St. Louis. I know first hand because I driven (not flown over or into) The Gateway to the West, I'm seeing these large birds all the time - they're are all around - I'm on their turf and we both know it. Fortunately, I've not had to throw hands with a hungry goose over an lost and unlucky little bagel. My guys whose names I mentioned in the photos and will add in, they throw down daily freshness from Casco Bay to you - buy you hesitate when buying retail seafood, you out of towners - and by "you" I am referring to Me. Let your conscience be your guide, real all of Mr. Alarming's reviews - pour it into a bottle and add some Bombay Sapphire - chug it down and partake if you are into that because you can up in here and its everywhere and it'll work up your hunger and you'll laugh a bit more than usual and if that's wrong --------- I don't wanna be right.

Let's start with the cocktails, because they truly deserve top billing. I always order the seasonal espresso martini, and somehow it just keeps getting better. This time it was tiramisu-inspired, and it was unreal. Rich, balanced, not overly sweet, and actually tasted like the dessert without feeling heavy. Whoever is behind that bar knows exactly what they're doing. The fish and chips? You cannot go wrong. Perfectly crisp batter, flaky fish, and fries that hold their own. It's one of those dishes you order once and then find yourself thinking about days later. That said, everything we've tried over multiple visits has been consistently excellent. It's the kind of menu where you feel safe branching out because you know it's going to deliver. The space itself adds to the whole experience. The architecture is beautiful, with warm wood tones and big windows that bring in natural light and make the river views part of the meal. It manages to feel polished and special without being stuffy. You can dress up a little or come in relaxed and still feel right at home. And the service is always attentive in that effortless way. Our servers have consistently been knowledgeable, present, and genuinely welcoming without hovering. It makes the whole night feel easy.

It was about 11:30 and the place was getting busy. By the time we left there was a short line out the door waiting to be seated and the parking lot was full. My fish sandwich and fries were fresh and tasty. My husband's chicken salad wrap and fries were equally good. Great views of the marina, comfortable tables, very good service. We will definitely be back.
