I totally enjoyed having lunch here earlier today. My buddy was visiting MN, whom has Persian roots and he gave this place a thumbs up, so thanks to "boldenlifemn" on TikTok for posting about this place. We got the special tray for two along with the Ghormeh Sabzi. The food was well seasoned and served in a timely manner. The tea was really good also. Street parking is probably your best bet. I love Persian food so was excited to find this family - run Persian cafe in an unassuming space in Cedar Riverside. The menu is small and the plating very basic, but the food is packed with flavor. Tried the chicken fesunjan and one other stew. The meat was cut so small that it blended into the rest of the dish, but was very tender. And the dish colors aren't the most visually appealing but they smell great. The experience feels more like home cooking than restaurant food - dishes prioritize flavor over appearance. This is a small business with limited seating and very rustic but you won't find a nicer group of folks taking care of you. I would highly recommend you visiting them. You won't regret it. Love this place. We tripped into finding in on our way to the Cedar for a concert and cannot wait to return. We split the dinner for two, beef, chicken & lamb with rice. The food was outstanding. This is one of those spots that if you know....you know. You know to come often and explorer the menu. All of it is made to the traditional Persian way because the owners are Persian and you can tell by how amazing it tastes. The saffron tea was the best I've ever had. We were going to the Thursday night show at Palmers, and we found Nader's across the street and decided to try it out. I wanted the dinner for four, but others wanted to order for themselves, so we had two appetizers, and four other dishes. I order the lamb shank, which was lovely, tender, nice mix of fat and meat, and great sauce and rice. We also had a biryani, and a goat dish. They were all tasty and very homestyle looking (that's just what it looked like to me). We ate every bit, and it was the right mix of unusual preparations, and quantity. I would have like the dishes a little warmer temperature, and especially the bread, and a little more salty, but when we asked for a side of hot sauce, we got the best green garlicky add on, that made all the difference (one of our party loved that the food was not salted!) I also like the friendliness of the owner: he's a retired engineer, and seems to just like haviing a place for his family to work together and his community find a good home style meal!! I really enjoy this restaurant and my wife and I keep coming back every few weeks. We had the lamb shank (marinated) and loved it--mouthwatering. We've had different kebab there and also enjoyed those items. The portions are above average when compared to many other middle eastern restaurants. The prices are reasonable and the service is very friendly and efficient even when ordering take-out. When it comes to Iranian food, this is our favorite in the Twin Cities based on all metrics. We also appreciate the location in that we DON'T have to go crazy with parking nearby. I highly recommend. read more

Nader Persian Restaurant is a neighbor of mine next to the Cedar Cultural Center on Cedar Avenue in the West Bank neighborhood of Minneapolis. It is located on Cedar Avenue not far from Cedar and Riverside Avenues and several other restaurants. I first learned that they existed on Sunday, October 8, 2023 while walking home from another restaurant. I stopped in, introduced myself and told Mr. Nader that I love Persian food. We had a small conversation and I spoke of my friendships with others from Persia over the past 43 years. The next day, I checked on his Yelp page, which has the incorrect times when they are open as of October 9, 2023. They are closed on Thursday, but from Monday through Friday, they are open from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m., and on weekdays, they are open from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. They are working to get this information updated. Nader is a small, cozy and humble restaurant, and very relaxing. I enjoyed a conversation with another diner and said Hello to Amir, Mohammed's son, and to his wife who was working in the kitchen. I looked at the menu and chose Kobideh Kabob, Ash and Persian tea. The kabob is made of lamb and beef. Ash is not made of ashes, but a mixture of Persian vegetables and spices, cinnamon and a dry yogurt. It is really tasty. A large helping of Basmati rice was served with saffron and small grape like fruit. The tea, with sugar, tastes just like honey. There are over 20 dishes to choose from. There is also an assortment of soda pops, but I prefer the tea! Good dining!! read more
