First, I'd like to note the really really cool mosaic of India made entirely of dried peppers and spices on the wall inside. The inside in general was a vibe and I'd love to go back and dine in. Ordered takeout for a cozy night in and I feel ashamed that I have not eaten here sooner. The food from store to home was piping hot and cooked a perfection. The servings are fantastic for the prices. I ordered the chicken tikka, coconut rice and garlic naan. The chicken tikka was full balanced spice and had large chunks of delicious chicken breast. The coconut rice was probably the star of the show. I could not stop sticking my spoon into it. It was full of flavor and depth, and the cream from the coconut.. a must try. We dined in and the food was fantastic. They had a ton of neon lights flashing and it was a bit over whelming. The server was nice enough. They gave me a cute coffee mug as a gift to take home because we were there on Valentine's Day, which I thought was really sweet. Would definitely eat here again. I was very impressed with the offerings on the buffet today (7/6/18). Chicken vindaloo, butter chicken, a cabbage dish, green beans & lentils, galub jamun, and green peas tikki were some of the offerings. The green peas tikki were an appetizer--they were small patties with curried potatoes and deep fried. Chicken vindaloo had a great balance of spicy/sour flavor. No complaints. Butter chicken was rich and creamy. Only a minor dislike--and this is a personal preference--raita was thicker than I care for. I like the thinner variety, but the flavor was solid. Lots of vegetables. You also get a fresh basket of naan. The young man running the FoH was very polite. Refilled water efficiently. Cleared dirty plates in a timely manner. read more

Visited India Bar and Grill for lunch buffet over a weekend. They have limited options in the buffet but most of the items are delicious. The spice level is on the mild level (in buffet). If you like spicy food, you might want to request them to prepare it spicy for you (à la carte). The Biriyani was not great. Their desserts were all good (rice pudding, Gulab Jamun, Mango Kulfi). We especially liked the Mango Kulfi. Medhu Vada was one of the best in the menu. Peas cutlet was very delicious too - not too greasy and well cooked. Interiors - it was nicely decorated and the tables were all clean. The service was great. The person that helped us was very polite and professional. Overall a pleasant experience with mild food and good ambience. We will definitely visit again. read more

No disrespect intended, but we tried for years to find a good restaurant when driving through Chaska. At last, we have. My wife and I are so grateful for India Bar and Grill! We've eaten here three times now on successive weekends, and every dish has been exceptional. The Madras Curry is the chef's mother's recipe--so rich, complex and flavorful. He said he grinds the fresh whole spices by hand. That might also be why his Chicken Tandoori is the best I have tasted in more than four decades of trying every Indian restaurant I can and eating in Indian homes as well. Juiciest, most flavorful chicken ever. The special Thalluvandi Unavu dishes are seldom seen and rewarding for the adventurous. Solid traditionally North Indian options, too. And, ohh, the vindaloo! Authentically fiery, tangy and delicious. Most dishes can be made mild, though. We're looking forward to trying the lunch thali next time. Lunch specials on weekends, too! Pleasant and comfortable atmosphere, attentive service, soft music and reasonable prices. Well worth the short trip down the road to this lovely little river town spot. We called in an order and picked it up 20mins later. The man taking my order seemed a little rushed and so I had to repeat myself a couple times on some of the items. Everything was written down correctly, and the order was just right. The pricing is a little more expensive than I'm used to in other places so I probably wouldn't eat here as often as I'd like, but the quality and taste was great. You can browse through the photos I've posted to see what we ordered. The Goni Manchurian was the best dish. Order it. The lollipops were good, and the chicken korma was tasty (though I'm not a huge fan of cardamom that's not entirely ground up...but that's just me). They gave us two small containers of rice (could have been more). The naan was very buttery tasting and a bit fluffier than I'm used to, but still tasty. The other only complaint I have is the Aloo Gobi...im used to a different texture and drier sauce than what they serve here (and the cauliflower was a little over cooked for me), but give it a try and you may love it. Would love to try their lunch buffet one day to taste more of their dishes. read more

This place is a small operation located in a strip mall of sorts. Whatever you do, don't let their tiny footprint fool you. They are cooking up some good eats at this place, something you won't want to miss. We had our usual fair of chicken tiki Marsala and lamb korma with a good grip of garlic naan and a healthy dose of mint chutney. In short, it was heaven. Nicely flavored. The service was great. What a pleasant find in Chaska! Great and pleasant staff, very helpful and friendly. We started with samosas and the chili chicken for appetizers. The mint chutney was excellent with the samosas and the chili chicken was a nice blend of hot and sour. For entrees we had lamb vindaloo, chicken vindaloo, lamb biryani, veggie daal and chicken kahdi. All dishes were very good and we'd happily order them again (but I really want to explore more of their menu ). We'll definitely return. read more

This is much more than a bar and grill. It is a restaurant that is nicely decorated with black tables and chairs and really cool wine glasses. The food? It was very, very, very good and plentiful. Fish Aamwala was outstanding. Served with white rice. We had to order the Naan ( bread). Yummy! Hubby had Goat Biriyani, he loved it. This restaurant has gone to worst. Their food quality is the worst. I ordered Chicken Dum Briyani, all I could taste was raw red chili powder in the food. Those who grew up in India know very well, the Briyani has a lot more flavor and you wont taste raw chili powder. The quality has been going down and not sure why the fellow Indian owner of this restaurant want to ruin Indian food experience for all, rather he can pack his restaurant and go do something else. If he cant find good chef to cook, he is a chef himself and should go cook the food. I am not sure why we have this restaurant in this town. This was the most flavorless Indian buffet that I've ever had. I'm pretty upset that I just wasted $11.75. I'm sure the staff is all nice, my word. I can't even pretend to be happy with anything from the entire buffet. I wish I paid by card so I could be refunded. Everything was the same color. Chicken was not tender. I don't know. It just was not good. Everything was so mild that I was able to give it to my 7 month old just to keep her entertained while I attempted to at least try to get full. Came here on a Sunday evening after reading the reviews for this restaurant. Very happy with the decision. My wife and I had a an order of garlic naan and the keema naan. Both were excellent. I really liked the keema naan, but it was a bit heavy to go with the meal. I would maybe just order the keema naan as a starter and then perhaps garlic naan with dinner. Our entrees were butter chicken and lamb chettinadu. Both were exceptional. I wanted something with some spice, hence the chettinadu. It's not at all overpowering, but a very pleasant spicy dish. The lamb was very tender. The butter chicken was very satisfying. Both dishes came with basmati rice that we shared between the two of us. After the two entrees and the naan, we were completely full. No leftovers, but also no dessert. They had a nice assortment of beers and wines to pair with the meal. Great service. Entrees took some time to come out, but it was busy when we were there and they're still trying to get their feet underneath them. Overall, very pleased that this restaurant is in Chaska and will be visiting again in the future. read more

India bar and grill is a newly discovered gemstone in Indian dining here in the twin cities area.Its a small but cozy and friendly place located in Chaska. I find most of the Indian foodscape in Minneapolis area quite mediocre. However I was really impressed by this place on my visit today. I tried the chilli paneer (paneer is like fresco cheese ) appetizer. Very spicy and very very good. definitely going to recommend that one Also loved the dal ( yellow lentils) tadka and bhindi (okra) masala. Dal was made on a very North Indian style.
