I started coming here 5 years ago, chosen based on convenience to my job at the time, and the fact that they took my insurance. Even after I'd changed jobs in a different part of DC, I still continue to come here. A big part of it was Debbie, who unfortunately isn't there anymore. She was incredibly sweet, understood that I'm a wuss, and took care of me accordingly. Both Dr. Soga and Dr. Nabor are also easily likeable. I really do like Dr. Nabor. The dentist's office is inherently not a place you're dying to go to, but they do a good job of making sure to soften the inconvenience of having to be there in the first place. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Lee for about a year now (or 3 visits). I left my previous dentist because he felt disconnected and judgmental. I highly recommend Dr. Kristy Lee if you are a young professional in the area. She is easy to relate to, gives very knowledgeable advice, and doesn't overdo the point that I need to floss more regularly. :) Arriving at the office I was seen nearly immediately. Each visit went smoothly and was timely. This was important because I often went in the middle of the day, leaving my office. The front desk staff was also very friendly which was a change of pace from what you see at a lot of MD/DMD offices in the city. I've had many dentists due to moving from city to city but as long as I live in DC, Dr. Lee will be my go to! She's awesome! read more

Dr. Soga was my dentist for a brief period and found numerous cavities. After getting a second, then a third opinion, I was given an "all clear" for cavities from them. She also urged me to undergo a fairly invasive procedure because my insurance would cover most of it. This went directly against the recommendations of the other dentists, who both said this was not medically necessary in my case. I unfortunately have had cavities drilled and filled here, and I now regret not getting a second opinion sooner. Please be careful! They also did try to get me to buy a night guard, special toothpaste, etc. read more

Firstly, I've come here in the past for two regular checkups (floruide treatment etc.) I've never had a cavity filled here or had any other sort of more invasive procedures taken care of. So my review only covers regular cleaning... What you've read below is true, you've probably never had as vigorous a cleaning in your life. Man it feels great afterwards though. I have been a patient of Dr. Lee's for several years and have been very happy with her care, she is one of the best dentists I've had after living in several cities. I can tell that Dr. Lee cares a lot about her patients as she takes the time to explain in detail what treatments are needed while addressing all of my concerns. The office staff is helpful and reachable via phone, email, and even text messages. I have never had any issues with billing as some other reviewers have stated. read more

I went to Dr.Soga's office as a new patient to get a check up and cleaning last week. She came highly recommended by a friend. I was very impressed by all the measures they took to disinfect and sterilized the operatories. They had air purifier with ultra violet lights in each room and all types of barriers, it all made me feel safe and secure. Dr. Soga was caring and knowledgeable and the Dental hygienist (Somchay) was gentle, thorough and give me the best cleaning that I ever had. I would definitely be a repeat patient. read more

Dr. Nadine Soga is the best dentist ever. Her work and her office are top notch. In the past, I was uncomfortable about going to the dentist, but my experience here could not have been better. A co-worked urged me to see Dr. Soga. Her staff was very helpful in dealing with my questions before the appointment and in dealing with my dental insurance. Dr. Soga very carefully explained what she was going to do and reassured me throughout the procedure. She was very gentle, professional and showed a genuine interesting my dental health. I would have given a higher rating, but at checkout I was confronted with a $20 extra charge for the inconvenience of "Covid." I objected, and was told that the insurance company wouldn't pay for this "just because" extra charge. I don't like it either! read more

I just had my first appointment at Dr. Soga's office today, and this is the first time that I have not gone to my family dentist (since I now live in a different state then my family and was therefore obliged to find a new one). The dental hygienist Debbie was amazingly friendly and very sweet, she told lots of funny stories during the x-rays and cleaning to help put me at ease (one-sided conversations since it was impossible to talk with all the tools in my mouth). She did almost all of the work, and then Dr. Soga herself came in at the end to review the x-rays and look at my teeth for herself. She was also very nice, but I can't say too much about the quality of her work since she mostly just approved everything Debbie had done. I was given lots of tips and the usual bag of dental goodies (toothpaste, brush, floss). Perhaps most importantly, they took me pretty much right away, no wait at all. I'm especially pleased because I just randomly chose Dr. Soga without any feedback from anyone. So if you are newly moved to the area or looking for a new dentist, I would definitely recommend making an appointment with Dr. Nadine Soga. read more

Staff is great, and I enjoyed my first visit to this office. And, my tooth look and feel super clean now.

Honestly this has been the worst experiences I have had with a medical professional. On my first visit I was told I had 5 cavities and was given an expensive toothpaste, for which I had to pay out of pocket, that was absolutely necessary. Three months before I had been to another dentist before I moved to the DC area who said I had 0 cavities. I decided that I would go to another dentist in Alexandria after my first visit at Dr. Soga's office, and was told I had 0 cavities, according to this other dentist. My wife had never had a cavity in her life and she was told she needed 2 fillings. As well, she switched dentists to another DC dentist and was told she had none. The worst part has been the billing process. They also billed my insurance wrong and sent me a bill for a couple of hundred dollars (after I had paid $100 at the office). I was assured multiple times that they would fix it. This lasted almost a year. A few weeks ago I received a bill that showed there was no balance from my first visit, but it showed I had a visit last August, for which I had hundreds of dollars of work done. I never had that visit, and they had charged my insurance. When I called the new office employee was very responsive when I told her about this problem. She checked my records and it did show that I had never come for a second visit, but I was still charged, and so was my insurance. She took care of of the insurance charge within a few days, and said they were mailing a check to the insurance company, but she also claimed I now owed money from my first visit. Needless to say, it was and continues to be frustrating. I have only left one other review on Yelp before and I really don't like bashing another business, but I do not have a lot of faith in Dr. Soga's office. read more

Pros: If you want someone to clean the bejeezus out of your teeth, Debbie @ Dr. Soga's office is your woman. My teeth feel significantly more tartar-free than they have in some time. She's very friendly and does a nice job of explaining what she's doing and why. The office also used a lot of cutting-edge equipment (e.g., ultrasonic descaler, baking soda blaster). Cons: My cleaning was somewhat painful and took much longer than I've come to expect (my last appt. was only 6 months ago so I did not expect such an intense experience). Dentist and staff use disposable gowns = not eco-friendly. Office uses film vs. digital x-ray technology (also less eco-friendly). Dr. Soga only made a brief appearance towards the end of my visit. She seemed very personable and professional. The office was clean and very pleasant. I was especially impressed by the reception staff. The dentists/hygienists are friendly, but they have consistently F-ed up my billing, on numerous occasions, which has been a royal pain the butt. Clearly, she needs someone with proper accounting skills, After the latest snafu, I've decided to change dentists - can't deal with this headache anymore. read more

I visited for the first time recently and found the service and the employee's to be friendly, well informed and most importantly, honest and naturally concerned about the well being of my teeth and gums. I was in a skiing accident and started experiencing a lot of pain in a tooth. I went to Dr. Soga's office and Dr. Naber, who practices with her was able to help evaluate my tooth. I ended up needing a root canal. Dr. Naber was able to refer me to an excellent endodonstist in the neighborhood that got me in promptly to start the whole process. After the root canal was complete, I went back to Soga's office for a crown. They were very accommodating with appointments that worked with my schedule and did a great job with the crown. I haven't had any problems with the tooth since and am very satisfied. read more

I know they have good reviews, I fell for it too, but avoid this office at all costs. They take on too many patients to keep track of everyone. I've been going to this office for three years. After a series of horrible experiences, them saying I'd have to wait three weeks to get an appointment for pain in my tooth is the last straw. This is after I contacted them after I chipped my tooth and they completely ignored my request for an appointment. Here's an example of one of my visits: My appointment was scheduled for 11:30 . That morning I received a call asking if I could come in at 11:00, which I agreed to. After I arrived, I waited for several minutes before being told that Dr. Lee was in a procedure and that I should come back or wait. I asked how long it would take, and the staff offered to have someone else perform the cleaning, which I agreed to. Dr. Lee did finally come to see me, but she wasn't with me for more than 2 minutes. I can't even remember if she looked in my mouth. She looked at my x-rays from a year ago, said I needed a cavity filled and new x-rays, and to come back in a month because of insurance. I told her about trouble/pain I had with a tooth for a period of 9 months after one of their fillings and that I started using a special toothpaste for it (which was helping), but her only response was to tell me that it takes a month for the toothpaste to work. She clearly wasn't listening, and was not concerned with the pain at all. She took no other action or interest. I understand that they are a busy office and that sometimes procedures take longer than expected- I have waited patiently for an hour after my original appointment time to be seen by their office before (which I think is a separate issue). But I really feel that Dr. Lee did not give me any time, and would have rather rescheduled than waste everyone's time. After the above experience, and them telling me I need to wait three weeks, in pain, for them to see me, it is clear their schedule is too full. Dr. Lee has stepped out of the room while she was filling my cavities before, leaving their technicians to finish or start the job. But their technicians are fantastic and I consider them my dentist more than I consider Dr. Lee. read more

I've gone to Dr. Soga's office, and specifically Dr. Nabor, for the last year and a half. Each time, the staff there is very happy and all smiles. I've had a cavity filled and find that the staff are very open to discussing options and explaining the theory behind what they're doing and what I can do to help maintain my teeth. I decided to try this place because, like many reviewers have mentioned, it was close to work and they took my insurance. I really like Dr. Kim, she has a more conservative approach to my care, however during my most recent visit, Dr. Soga treated me, and after taking x-rays, I had three mysterious cavities; I was looking at the screen with my x-rays over her shoulder and (disclaimer: I'm no medical professional), but she definitely zoomed past images of 2 of the "cavities", just saying "this could use a refill, and this is a cavity; and one, which admittedly I could see on the x-ray (where Dr. Kim had tried to work with me previously to see if we could get it to recalcify). Dr. Soga seemed suspicious to me and I felt that she was trying to get a little extra money. I won't go back because of that experience. read more

The actual cleaning was pretty rough on the gums, but otherwise just fine. The reason for the low rating is that they haven't properly billed my insuranse and keep sending me random bills. I've called a bunch of times and no one can set it straight. They charged me for things that I didn't get and don't have records of what the charges are for. Don't go here unless you want to go through a year of trying to explain to them how to properly bill an insurance company. I am seeing another much more organized dentist now and I'm much happier. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Soga for at least 15 years. She is a wonderful person and a talented dentist. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I have seen Dr. Rams a couple times over the years and he is equally wonderful. I look forward to going to the dentist because it's like visiting with friends I only see a few times a year. I was in need of a new dentist and tried Dr. Soga as she is close to my office. It was the best dental experience I have ever had. I have never had a cavity and she was so thrilled that my teeth are in such good shape. Her hygienist did a fabulous cleaning and all the staff was so kind and friendly. I was thrilled with the whole office and decided to take my daughter there also. I have to say they were great with her and made it a very positive experience. I highly recommend Dr. Soga and have had consistently great experiences with various hygienists that work with her. I really have never had a single bad experience at this office and always leave happy (and with a determination to floss more.) Dr. Soga and her staff are AMAZING. I came in needing a lot of work after not receiving dental treatment throughout my childhood and as a young adult. Dr. Soga worked with me to develop a comprehensive treatment plan where we could accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. She was always flexible with my work schedule, extremely receptive to my many questions during and outside of appointments, and was just extremely pleasant and professional. I have been with this practice for more than 2 years and made the decision to leave after a series of failures to provide care for my health. It got to the point that they didn't respond to voice mails and emails. Furthermore, they were unresponsive in my request to verify a referral taking my new insurance (they don't). They were unkind in dealing with my concerns and unsupportive of my dental health concerns. I would hate for anyone else to end up suffering by choosing this provider. read more

First yelp review, but due to my experience I felt I had to share it with others looking for a dentist they can trust. I tried out Dr. Soga based on Yelp reviews and because I was looking for a dentist close to work. The cleaning seemed just fine and she and her staff were very friendly. I did get the feeling they were trying to sell me things I didn't need (fluoride treatment, some paste stuff, night guard), but I know to be skeptical of that when it comes to dentistry. However, when they told me I had a cavity (first one ever), I was skeptical enough to get a second opinion. I went to see the dentist who I grew up with and who treats me as he would his daughter (since she's a good friend). According to him, there was no cavity to be found. To be sure, they checked the other side of my mouth and re-took the xrays and found nothing. Not even a spot that was iffy. While I felt relieved, I was also extremely disturbed that a medical professional could tell me I needed treatment that I just didn't (and while telling me this, also note that they are conservative about drilling). I do give their office props for sending me the digital x-ray without too much grief - as this can apparently be a touchy issue for dentist. Also a tidbit I learned through this process - even if your dentist doesn't "accept your insurance," you can still file a claim and the insurance will cover as much as they can. The dentist's prices may be more than the insurance will cover and you may have to pay out of pocket, but it's worth it to have a dentist who can do their job with care rather than just to stay in business. read more

I was seen precisely on time, and was treated with care and friendliness. I chose Dr. Rams many years ago because he came highly recommended by a dentist I trust and respect. I was assured he was one of the best periodontists on the east coast. He is very thorough, and does everything possible to keep the patient comfortable and pain free. He avoids surgery by judicious use of antibiotics, which in my case has eliminated my gum disease; my gums have remained stable for over 10 years. The office staff have always been a pleasure to deal with. I have been extremely happy with this practice. read more

I was shopping for a new dentist since the practice I have been going to for years is now a little too far to travel to. I have visited Dr. Soga's office twice now, once to have a check up and another appointment to fill cavities. The staff was kind and efficient both visits. I didn't spend much time waiting for either appointment, and actually, at my second appointment, I arrived a few minutes early and the hygienist took me back before my appointment time and the team was ready to go. They worked quickly and efficiently; Dr. Soga kept me informed about what to expect and what part of the procedure they were at. She was very sensitive to my needs and level of comfort.
