Not going back. Went in to this location after going to another one and was sorely disappointed. They not only had fewer options than the other location but they refused to substitute an add-on item that I was allergic to for another option such as rice...even when I said that I would pay for the substitution. When I mentioned that the other location was able to accommodate the allergy with the charge for the add-on, I was greeted by what appeared to be the manager and was rudely informed that this is one of the original locations and "we won't do that." read more

Avoiding hurricane Irma, I came back home for a few days and couldn't leave without trying an old favorite. Naf Naf is a model in multiple ways. Started out in an old Taco Bell, memory serves, and was a hit as long as I can remember. Great food at a reasonable price, they are aces for dining, but they go beyond that in my mind. Opening a middle eastern styled menu in a decidedly homogenous area was brave, and ultimately rewarding for everyone. The staff are incredibly friendly and having your order called out in 4 different languages when it's ready is a rare but enjoyable thing here. My only wish is that they were to open a location in Orlando; selfish on my part, but I know they would make a killing. There isn't much with a menu like this that could compete. I always enjoyed going to eat at naf naf at freedom drive in Naperville, but lately it has been going down hill, took the family and went there on 5-19-18 it was awful falafel where burned same for the chicken shawarma the place was busy, and it looks like they couldn't keep up with it, that's what I thought at first then I said to my self that chicken shawarma shouldn't have been burned, specially if the place is busy, The place was dirty, no clean tables I hope they fix the problem there because I like to go again read more

I finally got around to visiting! My favorite nail spot is in the same area so methinks I will be planning my nail visits around lunches at Naf Naf. I ordered a chicken shwarma pita, upgraded 2bux extra for the special and they throw in another side and a drink. Not a bad deal. The chicken shwarma was delicious--the chicken was very tender and so tasty. It paired well with the cucumber salad that is added into the pita. Soooo good. I got a side of the lentil soup, it was thick and very warming, just a little on the bland side. So much has been said in other reviews about their pita bread and I go along with the majority to say that it is indeed delicious and probably the fluffiest pita bread I've ever had. So soft and light--like a delicious pillow! Because we were so impressed with our food, we brought home the veggie platter for later for dinner. The veggie platter is hummus, baba ghanouj, tabule salad, cabbage salad, 6 falafels and 2 pita. Everything was delicious. Usually I stray from Falafel because I find it kind of bland and worse yet--greasy. Not these Falafel balls. It was very light, had a very good flavor and not greasy at all. The hummus was very creamy and had a nice subtle nutty flavor. The Tabule was so fresh--great flavor, hint of something citrusy. The Baba Ghanouj was definitely my favorite--nice smoky eggplant flavor--the smokiness was not overpowering at all, very smooth and so delicious with the pita. The space is nice and very clean--not much in decor. Service was friendly and didn't mind all my questions since I was newbie to this place. Too bad it's so far from home--I'm thinking about that chicken shwarma again. Time to book my manicure--that now means lunch at Naf Naf--hooray! read more

I love Middle Eastern food. I could eat it every meal of the day and would bathe in hummus if I had the chance. My addiction started young and by the time I first got my own place, I was eating hummus, falafel, and shwarma almost 5 freakin days a week! Pita Inn has always been my go-to place, but Naf Naf just blew me away. Their Pita Breads are amaziballs delicious! Freshly baked and served piping hot, you won't find fluffier and softer pita anywhere else. Just give me a plate of hummus and a basket of hot pita bread... that's all I really need. Their Falafels are tasty and their Hummus is even better - just the right creamy texture and flavorful. Now there's chicken shwarma and then there's Naf Naf Chicken Shwarma. Juicy bits of chicken, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. Even better after doing the double dip - some tahini and hot sauce makes everything taste even better. The food costs a few bucks more than other Middle Eastern joints I frequent, but the good eats justifies the price. Can't wait to go back for some more of that amazing pita bread! read more

I pooh-poohed all the talk about Naf Naf's super-fluffy pitas because I thought a pita was a pita was a pita. As is so often the case, I was wrong. Let me put it this way - I have three pet rabbits and they're not as fluffy as the pitas at Naf Naf. The pitas are almost as fluffy as dinner rolls and are like chewing on a carby cloud. I stopped by tonight for takeout on my way home. The young guy who waited on me was friendly and double-checked that hot sauce had made it into my bag (for me, it's the spicier, the better). Since it was my first time there, I ordered the Veggie Feast since it looked like a good way to try a lot of different things. It came with hummus, baba ghanoush, tabule salad, purple cabbage salad, six falafel balls, two pitas and a mix of olives and pickles. All of it was delicious and they weren't kidding when they said it was a feast. It's HUGE. I stuffed myself and easily have enough for a big lunch tomorrow. It's definitely worth the price ($9.99), which originally made me hesitate. This was a night-and-day comparison to the experience I had at Cedar Grill a few weeks ago (check out my review on that place - I'm still steamed at what happened). This place has a Chipotle-style setup and look (and is also situated in a stripmall) but sells hummus and falafel instead of salsa and burritos. I had a falafel sandwich ($4.99) and a cup of lentil soup ($2.99). All of this came with a large fountain soda and the total price came out to a little over $8 with tax. First, the good: the lentil soup was excellent. It wasn't overly watery, nor was it a thick porridge. The spices and herbs created a soothing savory flavor, perfect for a cold winter afternoon. The falafel, on the other hand, was only passable. To start, they don't offer wholewheat pita, which is a shame, because their white pita is akin to Wonder Bread: a preternaturally soft and spongy thing that could only have been created in a laboratory. The falafel pieces themselves were too soft for my likes (I like my falafel crispy) and woefully under-spiced. In comparison, you could get much heartier and more flavorful falafel at Pita Pit, a national chain that is to Subway the way Naf Naf is to Chipotle. Pita Pit gives you more for your money and you can customize your pita with different vegetables, spicy condiments, and wholewheat or normal pita. While I'm happy Naf Naf is not just another Chipotle, they have a lot of room for improvement. read more

We got take out from Naf Naf today, and I have to say that the food was very good. I had the chicken shawarma plate, and it was flavorful, and the rice and chips were good too. My friends got a pita (pretty good size) and the veggie feast and they were happy with their food too. Both of the stars in this review are for the food, because the rest of the experience was not so great. For starters, the restauarant is crowded and noisy as can be. I guess this could be seen as the spoils of victory, as this is a popular lunch spot. But the deal breaker was that it took forever to get the food. We did not ask for anything special and it took almost 20 minutes to put our order together. During this time we watched as the dine-in customers that came in after us got the exact same items that we ordered served to them in less than 5 minutes. We were frustrated by this, and it is enough to keep us from returning. Underwhelming. Because of the great reviews I was excited to try Naf Naf Grill with my husband and friends, but it did not live up to expectations. My husband and I ordered the chicken breast kabab which was rather salty and one note despite the addition of tahini and Israeli salad. The chicken, though juicy, was bland. The pita was incredibly fresh & fluffy, but lacked toothsomeness and substance. I had a bite of my friends kifta and though more flavorful than my chicken, still nothing to write home about. The tabouleh was nice. In sum, a run-of-the-mill fast food experience for me. The dining room, though quite clean, has the acoustics of a public restroom. Concrete, glass, metal, plastic. Every voice, every note, every little sound is rebounded and magnified. The seating is less than comfortable too. It's not a venue for conversation. It's a place for a very quick bite or takeout. I just left from what was my VERY FIRST VISIT to Naf Naf Grill and I am 100% sold on this awesome place! The food is absolutely delicious and very low in fat. I stopped in here on the way home from leaving the gym and I truly enjoyed this food! I got the chicken shawarma plate (with basmati rice and Israeli salad as my 2 sides) and all I can say is OMG! It was so flavorful and filling! I enjoyed it so much, I went back up to the counter and placed a 2nd order TO-GO! LOL The service is great. They're ever so polite and courteous to their customers! Ok so I think the reason why this fast casual gets so many rave reviews is that people are rating the cuisine and not the restaurant. Yes, the food is good, but if you compare it to Middle Eastern food served at a real Middle Eastern restaurant such as Pita House in Lombard or Reza's in Oak Brook you would understand. The menu at Naf Naf is limited. In addition to what Naf Naf offers Pita House offers kebabs in any meat you want including lamb. Baba Ganouj and the exclusive Mama Ganouj are offered in addition to hummus and the hummus is cheaper and superior. The falafel are superior in that they are more flavorful and crispy in addition to being less expensive. To me the home made pita is puffy and bland. Reza's offers an extensive lunch buffet featuring countless Middle Eastern delicacies for the same price as what you would pay for a meal at Naf Naf. It's great that all you fans love Naf Naf; however, I encourage you to expand your Middle Eastern/Mediterranean horizons and venture downtown or out to the Pita House in Schaumburg. The two offerings I mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg. read more

The hype is real. Outstanding. Unfortunately, everyone knows it. Luckily, I arrived about 5 minutes before a line formed out the door, so I was able to find a table. Their chicken shwarma sandwich is stellar. On this visit I had a falafel sandwich and small hummus. A ton of food, but I ate it all because I just couldn't justify leaving anything on my plate. Naf Naf has been like a unicorn to me for about year. I have been hearing wonderful, mythic superlatives about this place since I moved, and only a couple of weeks ago did Tony H. and I finally stop by. The unicorn in the room is real here, folks. The pitas stand up to their mythic reputation; warm, pillowy, fresh, soft, large, and moist, I recommend you order a couple on the side, because you'll be sad when you finish yours off. I've tried both the chicken schwarma and beef options, and both were perfectly cooked, spiced, and heated. Warm and spicy flavors, surrounded by those soft pitas, fill your mouth, and leave you a little stunned on your first time. Their basmati rice is fresh, perfectly spiced, and very filling. You get quite the big plateful for what you pay. The homemade pickles are delicious and the hot sauce is VERY hot. For $7-9, you can go to X fast food and get a crusty, fried value meal, or you can come to Naf Naf and surround yourself in steamy, fresh, perfectly cooked unicorns. read more

Really hard to believe that this is the third time I've been here and I'm only just now writing a review. This place is clearly well regarded and well reviewed. Seriously...everything about this place has been so well documented that there may be nothing left to say but "yum!" I don't know what more I can add to avoid making this just a "me too" review but I will say that a freshly baked pita is something that everyone deserves to try at least once before they die. Personally, I would happily replace at least 50% of my annual bread consumption with baked-before-your-eyes pita bread if I could find it in the STL area. Not that it really matters because everything is excellent here but I've tried their chicken shawarma, beef kifta, hummus and falafel. All were great. If I knew the first thing about running a restaurant I would be trying to convince the owners to let me open a STL location. Naf Naf is really is just your standard fast-casual restaurant affair. Order at the register, wait for you food with a buzzer Panera style, take your food, eat, leave. Not much new or innovative here. Food is great. They cook their beef so well, it's juicy and the sear on the outside is crunchy and its all just so fantastic. Pitas are fluffy and steamy and amazing. Israeli salad is fresh and bright. Toss all that together and you get a killer sandwich for eight bucks! And yet, the service is blah. It's your standard affair. At no point of the person to person interaction does anyone feel like anything more than a person shaped robot. No one has done anything 'above and beyond' to wow me. Or anyone else in the dining room for that matter. It would be nice to get a 'hello' or 'welcome to Naf Naf' or see someone in the dining room asking how food is, or busing, or someone at a register talking me though the menu. But there's an invisible wall between counter and dining room. Food is consistently amazing, service is consistently lukewarm. A good place to grab a bite, very fairly priced, and their food is really good, I just wish the staff would be a little more engaging. read more

I was VERY pleasantly surprised by this place when I stopped by for a quick lunch a few weeks ago. Bottom line - I can eat their fresh pita's without ANYTHING else in it. Seriously, the fresh pita's are so soft and moist that I would be happy if that was the highlight. It wasn't. I ordered the chicken kabob (dark meat) pita and enjoyed every bite! The pickles on the side were an absolutely perfect touch and the spice sauce added heat in all the appropriate places. Having eaten this type of food in the Middle East before and missing it here - this definitely scratched that itch! I love this place! Hubby and I finally got a chance to go there and check out their food. Mediterranean style food with a Chipotle restaurant type ordering type counter where you pay ahead and wait for your food to come out. The wait doesn't take long at all (unless you're going during rush hour lunch time). Onto the food... I would HIGHLY recommend any of their stuffed pitas! My favorite is the chicken shawarma. It is filled with fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, cucumbers, hummus, grilled pulled seasoned chicken, and of course their special spices sauce...YUM! I cannot say enough. Their pitas itself are just DELICIOUS and so fresh out of the oven. They also have really good falafels and rice...the best deal is getting the combo if you're going to order the falafels cause it's $10 on a plate and it comes with like 5 or 6 freshly fried falafels, rice, and side of fries. Turkish Kebobs are the fast food of Europe, and after having lived in Western Europe I have to say...Naf Naf is unreal. Now granted, it is healthier food, something us Americans may not enjoy that much, but The vegetable salad that Naf Naf encorporates into their pitas is literally sex in the mouth. They have their own unique blend of vegies, chicken, hummus...AND BAKLAVA! Everything is made fresh daily...I cannot rave enough aboutt his place. It is not quite the european version (which has lamb meat and a crazy cucumber white sauce...no homo) but come on people; even Audi has this predicament Extremely crowded around lunch, but worth the wait every time. One of my favorite places to go, and for God sakes it's practically the UN everytime I visit--it really does attract every shape and size. read more

The Naf-Naf Grill, at two years, is still a relatively new restaurant. Its food is decent, but not outstanding. It is somewhat overpriced. Naf-Naf occupies a structure that could well have been a small restaurant, such as a pancake house, before Naf-Naf took over. It has that look. You order at the grill and take food out, or eat it at the table inside or outdoors. The menu is Lebanese. It contains standard pita sandwich, grill and hummus type items, along with a lentil soup. The food is ok, but not exciting and not outstanding. The restaurant itself gets a lot of outdoor light. What I most noticed was that the food was overpriced, at least compared with Albany Park, which is where I eat Lebanese food. (For example, there is a $1 charge per piece of pita bread. Why should a restaurant charge for extra pita? And $1 will buy a whole package of pita at the bakery.) For this reason, I tend to avoid Naf-Naf, although local residents should find Naf-Naf to be a perfectly satisfactory Lebanese grill, because few others exist in the area. read more

Naf Naf is the new Chipotle. I'm 100% serious, and I'm rooting for its success. My family and I have been noshing on Naf Naf for the past few years, and we're all obsessed. Mind you - this is a family with three vegetarians (read: not picky, but need good veggie options). Luckily, Naf Naf delivers. Service has always been very friendly and the menu options they have are delicious, though selection is pretty limited (but hey, so is Chipotle!). The veggie platter is reasonably priced, filling, and beyond tasty so you'll have a hard time choosing between the hummus and the baba ghanoush to put on your pitas. Speaking of which, are wonderful beyond words... to paraphrase another reviewer "PITA LIKE PILLOWS." Trust me, they are hands down the best pitas you will ever have. Ever. I've converted many a friend between the posted clever sayings and colorful ambiance of Naf Naf and I can't wait to see this Middle Eastern fast-casual chain take over the world! Holy cats, this place is good. It is the best pita sandwich place I have ever been. I may need to dock some of the other pita places I have reviewed a few points just because in comparison, they suck, and I don't want my readers to go, "hey, we'll just go to blah blah blah because it's only a star or two less on Andrew's scale." This could happen because people care that much about what I say. For real. Reader, do not be confused. This is the best of the pita places. When my girlfriend told me it was the best, I did not believe her. She is a sweet girl, but we disagree on pitas. I was totally wrong. This is a pita lover's dream come true. The schwarmas and the falafel are wonderful. The sandwiches are lined with delicious hummus. The pita bread is soft and fresh. Plus, the pitas do not leak all over the place when you add the hot sauce. Also, the chop for the vegetables on the sandwiches is much finer than most pita places, which makes for a much nicer textural experience with every bite. Adding to the meal is the ambiance. This place is the antithesis of all the weird little falafel places you may have been to that have weird lighting and shady kitchens where nothing seems to be happening and your food takes half an hour even though you only ordered falafel and you are the only person there. The Naf Naf has a trendy atmosphere akin to a Chipotle or Noodles & Co from the future where things look even cooler and futuristic. The people know what they are doing, the kitchen is clearly clean and visible, and the food comes up pretty fast. One weird thing that I noticed at this restaurant was a woman in red at a table adjacent to me who was talking loudly. I suspect she was being filmed for a Match.com commercial, though I did not see any cameras. anyway, if you see that woman in a Match.com commercial, and she is in a trendy looking restaurant, just rememebr it was shot at Naf Naf and that I was there. One final note. I would like to publicly apologize to my girlfriend for being sour prior to this experience and also for putting off going to this restaurant because I didn't believe her. I absolutely adore healthy fast food centered on Mediterranean cuisine. Going to school on the East coast, I've found Maoz that satisfies my falafel addition. Naf Naf is similar in concept but with more variety. Why can't there be more of these kinds of establishments? In a nutshell: Naf Naf is cheap, fast, and delicious. The falafel pita I had was only $5! The drawback is that Naf Naf is only located in the western suburbs of Chicago. The place is clean with plenty of seating. There are utensils and containers for any leftovers you may have, adequately stacked on the counter. They give you a pager to alert you when your food is hot off the grill. It cost $25 for two people meals and drinks. Beef Kifta Kabab and my buddy had the Beef Kifta Kabab in a pita along with soup. The beef was well seasoned and cooked just right. Bread is fresh and plentiful. The staff was courteous and helpful as it was our first time visiting this establishment. I have been wanting to visit Naf Naf since the day they opened, and I finally got to do so on my last day working in the burbs. I visited the restaurant with a colleague and lunch time, and the place was buzzing! I went with the chicken shawarma pita with a side of rice. The pita was amazing and the flavors were spot on! I've been back several more times and each time I go back, I find myself enjoying it more and more. My new recent favorite is the Schnitzel - thin, lightly breaded sesame chicken. I prefer my pita without the hummus and it's absolutely perfect! If you're in the mood for dessert- the baklava is also a cheap, tasty treat. read more

I'd like to quote Agnes from "Despicable Me" and say... "IT'S SO FLUUUUUFFAYYYYY!!!" Holy Pita! It's like the Pita of ALL Pita's! Soft, Warm, Fluffy like no other. If I could buy a lifesized pillow version, I would! Frankly, it doesn't even feel like a pita, more like spongecake (but doughy like pita). It's got bounceback! My friend said "I want Naf Naf Every-Day! Are you sure there's no Naf Naf in NY?!?". He then continued to "Mmm" every minute or so. No joke. The Lentil Soup is awesome - it's got a hint of garlic and chicken soup? and a teeny kick to it. Yum! The Tenderloin Kebab - Juicy red in the center, spiced perfectly. More Please! The Falafel - ah, here's where we come to a small issue. The crunch factor was definitely there, in fact, it was GREAT. The taste - eh, and the texture, kind of moist and mushy.
